yeah i was wondering that, too. i was about to ask if anyone knew of bars in barcelona that would show the notre dame game (i'll be there then), but didn't want to be the third in a row..
Your blog is amazingly refreshing to read compared to other blogs out there -keep it up. but while you're here, I've got two questions for you:
1. How do you think your UFR will compare with Brian's (post MSU-UM game)? I'm not trying to insinuate that one is better, but rather I'm curious to see how much bias will show through from each side. While neither UFR grades out opposing players, I wonder if both sides will have more/less the same notes on the game despite the blinding fan goggles we all wear.
2. What's your honest-to-god prediction for the game?
i was thinking the exact same thing, it will be very interesting to compare. Although, if I'm not mistaken, the UFRs don't really grade out opposing players...
I just watched a video interview of Devin on Rivals (believe it's behind a paywall) after his team's loss, and I've got to say it was impressive. He was hurt with back spasms in the week leading up to, and during, the game. I couldn't tell if the pained expression on his face was from being hurt, his team's loss, or just his neutral face, but it really made me feel for the guy. The interviewer asked Devin how he would rate his own performance and he just looked back at him like he was crazy, exclaiming, "We lost. I have to improve everything." This kid really is better than you.
i live in NYC and have the unfortunate pleasure of meeting lots of ND folk and can honestly say i have yet to meet a decent irish fan. pompous, harks-back-to-ye-olde-days-in-yankee-esque-fashion... you know the drill.
while OSU types are a different brand of nasty, they are off plowing the field or sister or whatever they do in Ohio so i don't have much interaction with them. Also, they are largely illiterate and can't take to the internet except in hilarious broken english comments
But i do have a strange affinity for MSU. perhaps its because they contain the word 'michigan' and out here, where college sports mean zip, i find myself silently rooting for the team all my friends confuse with U of M anyway.
Beyond that, i think it's stupid to not root for the B10 as it only helps Michigan.
do you think portions of the spread will ever work in the nfl? the 'wildcat' formation crept up here and there, but was that a one year kind of thing? i personally see it being tinkered with this year (a la pat white under parcell) and down the road.
I think that he was trying to say that condemning people to hell based on their sexual preference is becoming less fashionable these days. No doubt there's a large group of people (majority?) who are not for gay-marriage, but are at least capable of an intelligent discussion on the matter and cringe at the sight of that pastor who protests military funerals out in witchita.
I don't know that i'm too worried that Riemersma will become a true 'face of the program' and scare off recruits, though...
i doubt you'd get a candid answer on this - but i'd be curious to know if the deluge of offers he's throwing out to (seemingly) everyone is a product of his time at wvu and not being able to be very selective. or perhaps its just how he does things regardless of what school's logo he's got on his shirt.
I just watched a video of him on rivals and he is all kinds of fast. Excellent player based on the flimsy knowledge of football I have and 30 seconds of video.
I've often wondered whether Matt Gutierrez's shoulder injury was a blessing in disguise for M football (Henne went on to have a pretty solid freshman year/four year starter as a result). But maybe Gutierrez, sans injury, would've been a better quarterback that year and allowed Henne a year to grow and develop.
I can see how this isn't a great parallel to draw to our current Sheridan and Forcier situation, but it's just a thought.
