yeah and there are those in…

yeah and there are those in college hockey that still seem baffled by the fact that the top 17-18yr old kids are more willing to go the minor league rout than college when they hardly see the real fans or environment

Adam has his head in the…

Adam has his head in the sand and cannot see the forest for the trees.

Harvard is 3 miles from BU and their arena (4K)

Princeston is 23 miles from Rutgers and their arena (8K)

Ferris State is less than an hour from  Van Andel Arena

Colgate is less than 40 miles from Syracuse

And Merrimack is in Andover Md there are at least 3 arenas they could use

He just does not like change and will do anything to not talk about or promote something that has a reasonable solution.

He has been a 100% failure…

He has been a 100% failure since his PSU days.  Look at the resume, cannot stay at one job for more that 1 or 2 years.

Texans HC and ruined the franchise as HC and GM out in 2020

Bama OC 2 years, they won despite his play calling

Back to Patriots for last year and look at that offense and how Mac Jones regressed. This is a good thing for Michigan, that offense is going to fall apart.

One other thing to take into…

One other thing to take into account and that is that Harbaugh's personality and mindset works better when he has young men whom he can mold work with.  His actions grew stale in SF in part because after being around him for 4-5 years these 30 yr old vets were starting to tune him out.  Better to have fresh faces every year to keep things rolling over.  That and it takes a certain type of football player to play for a coach like Harbaugh.

I do not think he will adjust like Pete Carrol did in Seattle as his "energy and cheerleader" style started to wear on some of the long term Seahawks.

And the icing on the cake…

And the icing on the cake this morning was that Mr. SEC homer Paul Foulbaum, actually ate crow and admitted that Michigan was the best team and even would have beaten Georgia this year.

I found that this team and…

I found that this team and the 97 team have some interesting parallels.

1) Beat a team from Washington with a strong armed QB to win the Title

2) Had very stingy defenses

3) The RB's on both teams had a blue colar mentality.

4) both had a star at cornerback who wore #2

5) the QB's both did what was needed to win games and never said anything about stats personal success

6) It was all about coming back and getting the job done by a bunch of upperclassmen who could have left but came back.

7) The OL and DL were the silent leaders, going out there and just taking care of business

8) Next man up was never more obvious.

And you know what this looks…

And you know what this looks so damn nice also....

That is correct Michigan…

That is correct Michigan played in 2 bowls in 1981 and won them both.  I was lucky enough to go to the game and also got to meet AC at the team hotel and went to dinner with Bubba Paris, Ed Muranski, and John Wangler who was a grad assistant that year I believe.

Kolache Factory are all over and highly recommended, both for quality as well as variety.

Taste of Texas is always great and it is a living breathing Texas History Museum as well.

I would say look on…

I would say look on Westheimer or Richmond unless you are looking for something specific.  I know the Houston UM alumni have their game watching parties somewhere inside 610 and off of I-10.

Downtown to Downtown

Downtown to Downtown

Dallas - Houston 4-5hrs depending on traffic on I45
San Antonio to Houston 2.5 hrs with some slowdown west of Houston where the freeway is being expanded
Austin - Houston about 2.5 to 3 hrs.

Note all these are interstate, there are other state highways and roads that can avoid the indirect routes that these trips take with the exception of San Antonio - which is straight west to east.

or I 45 south till you get…

or I 45 south till you get past 610 either

I have lived in the Houston…

I have lived in the Houston area for 47 years and let me clear some things up.

1) yes traffic can be bad.  However Houston Metro area is the largest metro area in total SQ miles of the 5 largest cities, and there are multiple routes to get somewhere.

2) Houston does have speed limits :), but if you are driving the rules I would suggest you follow are first go with the flow and if you are uncomfortable on the freeways google maps can get you around on the other major roads.  And also Keep right and let the real crazies have the far left lane if at all possible.

3) If there is a specific food you want to try (BBQ, Seafood, Steak, Tex-Mex China, Japan, Indian Cajun) look for local ownership and avoid the national brands.

4) avoid parking at Reliant if you do not have a pass for in close parking.  The best bet is the Metro Rail with the Parking at the Fannin Parking lot total cost for 4 people would be $15 for parking $3 and the rail passes. $3 round trip

5) Hotels are everywhere, Inside 610 and south of I-10 will keep you closer to the event,

6) Plenty of shopping for everyone the Galaria, and other locations.

7) Houston Zoo, Houston Museum of Natural Science are top rate for all especially families.

8) If you are a runner Memorial Park and Herman park are good.

9) Further out of town, if you are here for a few days, Nasa(Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston, Galveston and the Strand for history buffs, The George Observatory out in Richmond if you want to do some stargazing.

10) The downtown area can be entertaining with the Rockets, playing on the 3rd 5th and 6th, there are also places like Joystiks which features  all you can play classic arcade games on the first and last Friday of the month for $15 (21 and over).

Finally realize that the stadium is south central inside the 610 loop and there are areas around it that still have not cleaned up like people hoped.  If you have a question about a hotel location  I will be glad to let you know if you need to lock your items in the room safe or not :)

Hope everyone who comes enjoys their time here and Go Blue!!!

There is a Metro rail option if you are willing to ride a toy train from the stadium to a park and ride lot

The parking would be $3 and then the train tickets are $1.25 each way.

The 2 that end up on the…

The 2 that end up on the ground like so much cordwood are the left guard and the center Mason is basically giving the LT a lesson in leverage and speed. Also watch Jenkins and McGreggor game the other side of the line.  It appears to be a pair of games, one E-T (Jenkins and McGreggor) and on T-E (Graham and Harrell).  What is impressive is the fact that 2 separate games were successful and both clean and effective.

11-0 that is the only stat…

11-0 that is the only stat that will matter after tomorrow.

One other thing to take into…

One other thing to take into account is the fact that if the school had kept this in litigation with the TRO it could have kept the university and Harbaugh from going after the B10 and the commissioner for failure to follow Conference by-laws, and that I think will be the be the bigger issue and could be part of the reason for letting this go.

Sure I am mad about the suspension but I think the bigger fish in this getting rid of the fool that is the commissioner.  He has 2 strikes against him as far as I can see.

1) the huge mistake with the TV contracts where he double sold content he had no right to sell

2) Failing to adhere to the By-laws when it comes to punishment when there is an ongoing NCAA investigation.

As it is if the TRO had not been granted then strike number 2 becomes a moot talking point when it comes to removing him.  UM and now sit down and point out to all the middle of the pack schools that if he can do this to UM then he can do the same to you with out any chance of being able to defend yourself.  All it takes is a simple majority of schools to want him out to make it happen.

What is this IF.  After all…

What is this IF.  After all the crap that the league as thrown at the team and program.  From we are not punishing Coach Harbaugh with this suspension but the institution. To basically submitting to a mob demand.  I expect a complete and total ass whippin.  And I  do not think the starters will willingly come out of the game till it hits 00:00 on the clock.

Here comes the judicial ass…

Here comes the judicial ass kicking that is going to cost the conference $$$ and that fool of a commissioner his job.   First he screws up the television contracts by selling content he did not have permission to sell, now he does this... If the legal costs are big enough he will end up being a lame duck.

This is the same sort of actions that shredded the old Southwest Conference, where it ended up everyone was looking for dirt on the other teams with the hope of screwing them over when it mattered most.

I really feel sorry for PSU,…

I really feel sorry for PSU, because if this stands, I have a feeling that the game against Sparty will look like a close game in comparison.

One stat I found interesting…

One stat I found interesting was the number of snaps that the D-Line had that game as well as that not a single player on the DL is averaging over 30 snaps a game.  That is the sort of rotation and depth that Georgia had the past 2 years.    That makes a huge difference later in the season.

What I find very funny is…

What I find very funny is this quote from the school that brought and kept Larry Nassar around for so long.

In a statement, the university said it had terminated Tucker's contract "for his admitted and undisputed behaviors which have brought public disrespect, contempt and ridicule upon the university; and constitute a material breach of his agreement, and moral turpitude."

No read what I said.  The team name stayed with the city.   If that had been the case with the Athletics the name would have stayed in Phily.

Sorry but the Houston Oilers…

Why should you discount relocation?  The only city that got to keep their team name when a franchise moved was Cleveland, and that was after they agreed not to sue both the NFL, Model, and Baltimore for the Browns leaving.

Also you said won a championship after relocation.  In that case the Titans need to be removed.  They won them Before they moved and the team still claims the win 2 AFL Championships, that were won as the Oilers back in 1960 and 1961.

for me #7 Rick Leach and #42 for Billy Taylor....

I have one theory as to why…

I have one theory as to why there seems to be fewer applicants, and it is simply few people in the workforce.  For example a semi normal family of 4 where both mom and dad work out of the house, kids are say middle school age.  Pandemic hits Mom is laid off from her job Dad now works from home.  Mom and Dad make adjustments to their budget and see they can live off of Dad's salary and still do all the things they want.  So when things start to open back up and Mom is offered her job back she says no thank you.

Boom 1 more open position and one less person willing to fill it.  Now do that across the middle class and say if even 25% of the dual income households realize they can survive on a single income and that family quality of life is better, then you have a huge number of jobs that are needing people and at the same time a huge number of people who are for all reasonable discussion have left the workforce.

Those 2 things can lead to lower unemployment numbers because fewer people are looking for work and at the same time create upward pressure on both salaries and demand for quality staffing.  If you watch eventually companies are going to look at their staffing and start to simply not fill those spots if they cannot get someone to hire. What is normally an artifact of a recession will occur even as wages go up.

Chris Simms a failure as a…

Chris Simms a failure as a College QB and a failure as a human and reporter.  He is a shit slinger who has about as much credability as the local high school news paper reporter trying to break a big story.

If the Gopher player's head…

If the Gopher player's head did not bounce off the boards it is a 2 minute crosschecking penalty.  Because the hit drove him into the boards head first it becomes a 5 minute Major.  All about player safety.  That play if he had hit him harder could have resulted in a serious head or neck injury.

I have no problem with the call.  This was another where the hit did not have to happen, it was away from the play and after the puck had gone to the other side of the ice.  Stupid decision and they will not go far in the post season making mistakes like that.

There is an article behind…

There is an article behind ESPN's pay wall that I refuse to contribute to that discusses the Raiders opening but beyond that, I see it as more of the same, Harbaugh is successful and the rumors are a way to stick it to Michigan in recruiting..  All you need to do is see his reaction when he and his family meet on the floor of Lucas Oil Stadium after the championship game.

at 8:50 of the video he give his dad a big hug and can be heard telling his son "we did it"

https://youtu.be/MZ9qWXL1uaA

all you need to see what that win means to him to win the past 2 weeks.

From what has been coming…

From what has been coming out since the announcement that OU and UT were going to the $EC, that Riley really was not in favor of that move and that he felt they had a better chance of winnning in the Big 12 and that it is simply a money move that is going to benefit the Athletic Department less than it will cost the Football program both when it comes to the playoffs as well as recruiting.

Best Execution frees up both…

Best Execution frees up both shallow crossers, if a defense does not overload one side or another of the LOS with a blitz then it becomes QB choice.

This is also run from a double stack formation with the first receiver running the cross and the second receiver running some sort of seam or out route.

any contact within the first…

any contact within the first 5 yards as long as it is a bump (contact) not a grab is legal.  Look at what Morris did to the crosser coming from the right side of the formation.  Boom shoulder into chest and he is on the ground... No rub/pick and on less receiver on the play....

The B1G needs to move into…

The B1G needs to move into the 21st century and have full time officials not guys that were on the HS field that previous Friday Night just to make an extra $$$$

Good write up and I agree,…

Good write up and I agree, that with the exception of the second half against Rutgers the coaches have done a very good job of getting the players in positions where they can make plays and be successful.

The second half at Rutgers I still do not understand because they  were able to get yards in chunks on the ground when they attacked the B and C gaps but they seemed to think that since the starting NT had been thrown out they could run better in the A gaps.  The problem was Rutgers at that time started to play with a LB in the second A gap and basically played with a compressed 4 man line with all 4 lined up inside the tackles.

More of the same and we will keep winning.

2 early turnovers lead to 14…

2 early turnovers lead to 14 points and the crowd never gets into the game.  Michigan's Coaches realize you can run outside the tackle box and gash the top run defense for 200+ yards and force them to play 8 in the box trying to stop it.  Cade has a solid game passing for 200 yards and 2 td's.

The defense will bend but not break and Mertz will fail on multiple 3rd down passes forcing a lot of punts and only 2 mid ranged FG.

Final score UM - 38  Whisky - 6

Here is the moment before…

Here is the moment before the catch look a the spacing created due to the execution.

That was not a middle run…

That was not a middle run. Anything outside the guards is considered an edge run or maybe even a stretch run.  No they did not run a lot of toss sweeps or things that got them around the numbers but the vast majority of the runs that were successful were in the B or C gap and the Corum's TD was in the D gap.  The 2 times they really got stuffed were on the goal line and those were A gap runs against 2 very stout DT's

go rewatch the game and see…

go rewatch the game and see how many times they ran in the gaps between the guards and center. Then watch where they did run it and where they were the most successful, it was the runs off the tackle's outside or between the tackle and tight end

Ask any coach in football…

Ask any coach in football what the first rule about offensive game plans and adjustments and most will tell you when you find something that works, you keep doing it till the other team stops you. Then you move on to the next thing.

If you look at how Michigan attacked this Washington Defense which is strongest at the Tackle and Cornerback positions.  They attacked the edges of the offensive line.

Corum's TD is a perfect example of collapsing the defensive line in and kicking out the LB and corner and allowing your playmaker to force the safety to make a play.  Also after that long run you can see the safeties moving even further back to help get better angles on plays on the edge.  Most of the time the Washington Safeties were not even in the frame when the ball was snapped.
