I find myself...

in an odd situation. While I'm deeply disappointed by the hire (that I knew was coming in early December; just ask my wife), I am inexplicably EXPECTING to end up loving it.  Something tells me that I'll end up loving having Hoke as head coach.  It may not be today, and it may not be next year, but something tells me that this WAS the right hire, and that Hoke will go down as one of the great coaches at Michigan.

ESPN

And, ESPN reported that LM was our new coach in 2007 with no basis; and ESPN reported that JH was our new coach in 2011 with no basis; and Freep reported that UM exceeded the practice limits BY A FACTOR OF 2 with no basis; or that ...

Les

Have you researched the "oversigning" issue by Les yourself, or are you repeating a known "fact"?  Were you there when the supposed sleazy transactions took place, or are you taking someone's (bitter) words for true?

Rumors are a dime a dozen.  Hell, according to rumors, we already have 3 coaches next year.  According to rumors, Lloyd Carr is the devil incarnate, sabotaging his enemies regardless of the cost to Michigan, the school he loves (let me say that, while I never believed LC to be a GREAT football coach, I have always believed him to be a great MAN and a GOOD coach, one that I'd be honored to have my son play for).

We need a winnner; Les is a proven winner.  We need someone that wants to be here; if LM takes the job, it's because he's coming home and wants to turn us around.  We need a big name that can turn around our defense and our recruiting class; LSU has been known for its defense under LM, and has had very highly regarded recruiting classes.  We need a coach that can, and will, beat OSU (and MSU and ND); LM has shown that he can beat OSU.

Above all else, the new coach needs the support of the UM faithful.  RR never had that (even before he lost a game).  I am not saying the coach of UM is above reproach; that if he comes in and oversigns; or treats poorly the boys that come to Michigan to play footballl and become men, true Michigan Men; or cheats in other ways implied by the rumors about LM, that he should be supported without question.  I am saying that those that dislike him, for whatever reason, that make up (or believe without substantiation) rumors about such transgressions, need to look themselves in the mirror, and ask:  "am I a Michgan Man?"

I agree...

they didn't play safety at Michigan.  However, that was my point: they were safeties in high school, that were converted to LB at Michigan.

Recruits

You just made (at least partially) his point.  The first three on your list, iirc, were all converted safeties (Burgess, Brown, Crable).

I always used to root for

I always used to root for MSU, except when they played us.  However, a few years ago it occurred to me that many of their fans root against us almost every, if not every, game.  I now, without exception, root against MSU.

Spots

We also got the benefit of some bad spots.  There was one spot I recall where we were given, definiteively, an easy first down (a run by Smith) where he was, at best, AT the marker.  They gave him at least a half yard, maybe even a full yard.  The refs were, in my opinion, even.

Yep, Tate was behind the

Yep, Tate was behind the bench passing a ball, while DG was on the sidelines taking snaps from Molk.

Talent

Jonas has always had the talent...but he's lacked the ability to be in the correct position consistently.  Remember those plays last year where you wonder "why's that guy so open, who's supposed to be covering him/that area/etc.?"  Much of the time, it was Mouton.  Let's hope he's learned better positioning, or the simplification of the defensive terms helps, or whatever else leads to him being in the right spot at the right time consistently, so he can use that talent to wreck opposing players.

Dorsey was a signing day

Dorsey was a signing day decision..please name the other DB recruits that could have filled his spot had he not signed.

My guess is, the OP has been an RR detractor from the start, and this was a (very poor) attempt at painting himself as an RR supporter who has changed his stance.  Either that, or he's a complete idiot (I suppose the two are not mutually exclusive).
