The only issue with this, is I can't see many schools agreeing to let a player transfer if it hurts them. To many players transferring is actually a good thing, as it allows them to go to a school where they will get more playing time. Although your proposal is definitely coming from a good place, I think it would have the unintended consequence of making it harder for athletes to transfer.

Although you are technically

Although you are technically correct that it cannot predict CTE, it is known that CTE is caused by repeated traumatic injuries. Therefore, it isn't really something that you would see happen in real time.  The goal of this device, and the one the OP mentioned are to more readily identify individuals who had a significant collision and possible acute brain injury. Decreasing repeative brain injury (especially in those who have had recent brain trauma) will decrease the amount of CTE in the future.

I hope that wasn't too nuanced, however, I think saying that "the device can't diagnose CTE so its useless" is a little too big picture.  If you can pick up and treat small injuries, the current understanding is that the risk of "big injuries" (ie. CTE) will also decrease.

There are actually a lot of

There are actually a lot of really cool technologies that are being used to determine if brain injury is occuring without the need to get hospital based tests (CT, MRI, etc) . One of the more promising ones is Brainscope, which uses EEG and a phone app(So it is incredibly mobile). It is currently pending FDA approval, but is in advanced clinical trials at hospitals, with the military and NFL teams.

I really dislike this logic.

I really dislike this logic. Glasgow's family's ability to pay should have nothing to do with him getting a scholarship.

For example: Two employees are performing the same job and you only have the budget to give one a raise. Does the employee with less assets deserve the raise, or the one with better job performance?

So put yourself in their

So put yourself in their shoes. You have been playing football for your whole life.  You have the opportunity to win one more game of the sport you love-- would you really turn it down or just quit and be done playing competitive football forever?

I admit I was coming here to

I admit I was coming here to be a jerk and mention how its been posted already.  But I hadn't seen that each position group is wearing a different design. Thats pretty cool.  Has any other team had different helmets in use at the same game?

I wasn't blaming the AD over

I wasn't blaming the AD over the University, they are both to blame in most cases.  ADs are spending too much money and the Universities are generally supportive of this.  I don't see it changing anytime soon, but it still grinds my gears a bit.

My problem isn't with

My problem isn't with subsidizing.  Obviously, a University should be able to provide services to students outside the classroom.  My issue is with with what I perceive to be an arms race between the Athletic Departments across America.   If you are Michigan, OSU, etc. go ahead and spend the cash, you have it.  But if you dont, FreddieMercuryHayes put it best " If it can't self support, then maybe time to downsize and not have Cadillac facilities."

Modern day athletic

Modern day athletic departments shouldn't be financed off the back of students.  If everyone was running athletics like they were 50 years ago -- less extravagant facilities/smaller coaches salaries -- I wouldn't see a problem student fees.  However with the current cost of tuition I don't think it is fair to tack on money to run the athletic department.  Make it opt-in and don't force people to take out student loans to fund the AD if they don't care to go to games.  Although it is almost heretical to say on this board...athletics is not part of the core mission of the university and shouldn't be a mandatory fee.

I'll cosign here as well.

I'll cosign here as well. Don't feel bad in the slightest. When applying for medical school I applied to Michigan State and even Ohio State.  Luckily, I didn't end up at either of those places. However, if I did I would still be happy to be improving myself professionally.  Football loyalties be damned, this is about Monday-Friday, not Saturday.  I don't think any sane person should fault you at all for your decision.

I would try to see if you can

I would try to see if you can go elsewhere. Even if your grandfather is in the 99% percentile for people his age--I don't know of many 89 year olds who would be comfortable standing on a bleacher for a couple of hours.

This.  Changing your opinion

This.  Changing your opinion on something in response to a different data set is not flip-flopping.  If the flip-flop is a result of analyzing a different data set and coming up with a different conclusion, shouldn't this be a good thing?  If not, what's the point in having rankings?   Pre-season #1 is post-season #1 -- no flip-flopping on ballot rankings allowed.

The transitive property

The transitive property never fails! As a proof of concept, see how EMU's football team was better than Alabama last year!

Well for Bell's you can head

Well for Bell's you can head to Arizona.  Unfortunately for FFF the closest place is probably Munster, IN.

I know there are tons of

I know there are tons of upsets every year, but does it seem like there was a disproportionate amount of bad seeding this year?  Of note you have 3 12's winning, a 15 making the sweet 16 for the first time ever and a victory for a 13 and 14 seed in the first round.  Also, St. Louis, a 4 seed thought to be a team that would give Louisville fits, bowed out to a 12 seed.  Is this just March Madness living up to its name, a case of very poor seeding or just a demonstration of how much pariety college basketball has this year?

I know this isn't unique to

I know this isn't unique to me, but it feels like my bracket has been crushed in most close games.   Marquette alone has busted me twice!

I have to agree with this

I have to agree with this flagrant 1 thing being garbage.  If you need to watch the play in slow motion to determine if it's flagrant, it's not.

From everything I read it

From everything I read it seems like if its on CBS you can always get it for free without putting in a provider.  If its on any of the other channels you get a free 4 hours total for the tournament.  After that you need the TV subscription.

I don't know if this will

I don't know if this will work for everyone, but I have found that the quality on watchespn is inversely proportional to the number of applications/browser tabs I have open.  If I shut everything else down and refresh the ESPN stream a couple times I usually end up with really good video.

That is amazing!  Is this a

That is amazing!  Is this a one-time only link or will it work tomorrow/next week/football season?

Do you really think the

Do you really think the events are comparable? Let me show you a picture of Cantona...

IMO Hazard deserved the red and the mandatory 3 game suspension that goes along with it.  But that is where the punishment should end.

Your point is true.  It

Your point is true.  It definitely is a good thing not to hoot and holler in your oponents face.  It is obnoxious and disrespectful.  That being said, when you celebrate, you usually show emotion immediately.  If you are all by yourself, like Charles was, it's easy to avoid confrontation.  When you just dunked on someone and they are standing a foot from you at the end of the play, any celebration looks like taunting regardless of intent.

I agree with almost

I agree with almost everything you said, I don't understand how people don't understand that declaring earlier probably lead to a higher position due to the weak draft.  I hope that this performance is not just a one off.  That being said, 3-5 shooting from beyond the arc is unsustainable for any player...

Just did a quick

Just did a quick check...couldn't have been him. He's in Manhattan.

Anyone else hear someone yell

Anyone else hear someone yell ball don't lie? Is Sheed at this game??

Is anyone forgetting the lockout?

One thing that was screaming out to me here was that no one is looking at the extenuating circumstances.  IMHO one of the big reasons why Morris jumped when he did was the weak draft class, as many people were (correctly) expecting a lock-out.  He left because he thought that it was his best opportunity for a high draft position.  Burke doesn't have to deal with any of this stuff...so his decisions are a lot more conventional.

Yeah it's Wisconsin

This one is pretty good too

Thank you so much for that

Thank you so much for that video.  So many of those runs were memorable, but I think the one at 7:50 was the most impressive.  Not only does he have spectacular speed but his strength is overpowering as well!

Biakabutuka too!

I don't know if I'm the only one who has the two forever linked -- but a running tandem like Biakabutuka and Wheatley was a sight to behold and I hope we can come close to approximating it sometime in the future.  For my money -- those two are some of the greatest M backs of all time.  Combined they ran for almost 2000 yards in 1994 at 6.2 and 5.4 YPA respectively.  Could you imagine how lethal a running attack of Tim, Tyrone and Denard would be?

I know my young impressionable mind put those two high on Mt. Olympus, but that was a spectacular backfield, even when compared with other M greats.
