I believe there has been a book written.  I was listening to "The Herd" a couple of days ago and he and his guest(one of the college guru's who is a guest often on his show, can't recall his name) were alking about this. According to the author its recognized nationally as an embarassment to college sports.  Might have been Pat Forde?

Edit:

I just looked it up.

Meat Market: Inside the Smash-Mouth World of College Football Recruiting  by Bruce Feldman

Its a good thing we didn't Its a good thing we didn't get Harbaugh then, Stanford ran a 3 man front quite a bit. So did/does TCU. I'm pretty sure that we all saw on New Years day that "being good in the Big Ten" isn't necessarily the barometer for being good at a national level.
If this is all true its If this is all true its beyond pathetic. They're high school coaches, what the f' did they want RR do? If BH comes in and makes it a point to kiss Climax-Scotts' asses because they have winged helmets that's worse than beyond pathetic. If there were no negative actions or words from RR to those schools and they're still pissed, that says a lot more about them than it does him.
I have no problem admitting I have no problem admitting I'm bitter about it. Let's be honest though, who in their right mind would have guessed Brady Hoke even before RR was fired? This guy would have been about 100th down the line(he may turn out to be the best coach in UM history)as far as "finding the nut". Its just too coincidental for me that's all. You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to wonder what really went down.
I don't disagree with you. I I don't disagree with you. I thought something was very fishy when Hoke's name was mentioned as the new coach the day before RR got fired. DB comes out that night and says no decision had been made. The next day RR gets fired and a week later Hoke is name HC. How did it get leaked that a guy no one ever expected to be coach, and then a week later it comes to fruition? Something's fishy for sure. On the surface it would appear there wasn't a "national" coaching search which would be a damn shame.
I'm with you. I will miss it I'm with you. I will miss it too. I will never understand why DB just didn't buck up a pay some money to get a new defensive coordinator for RR. I guess no one really knows the entire story except those two. It is what it is and at the very least we will have one of the most explosive, exciting players in college football the next two seasons.
Also to the OP, in your mind,

Also to the OP, in your mind, what will it take from BH to prove DB right?  How will you measure his success?

Does anyone else find it

Does anyone else find it ironic that Brady Hoke's name was mentioned the day BEFORE RR was fired?  Not only mentioned but the "reporter" said he will be the next coach.  How in the world could a guy that hardly anybody has ever heard of be mentioned and then ultimately get the job?  So, to the OP, do you really think it was the bowl game that got RR fired and that there was no contact between DB and BH before hand?  To me thats a little too convenient of an excuse.

Damn he looks big in this Damn he looks big in this picture(Denard, not the other fat ass)
I didn't watch the presser I didn't watch the presser but after reading this I'm less "onboard". It was the "our goal is to go to the Rose Bowl every year" attitude that turns me off. Its ok to aspire for greater things than winning the conference that's a distant second in football prowess. There's nothing wrong with saying "hell yeah I want to win a National Championship". This small snippet of the presser does let me know he is the perfect fit for Michigan though.
Then why the delay in firing? Then why the delay in firing? If DB said you fire them or I fire you and RR says no, why the need to "sleep on it" for DB. I don't buy the ultimatum. RR may be headstrong but I believe he REALLY wanted to be the coach here.
Is it common knowledge that Is it common knowledge that Casteel didn't come here because of the money? I knew he was offered the spot but declined. It almost had to be because of money, or lack there of, to decide leave your hometown.
I'm so confident in his I'm so confident in his coaching abilities I bet my buddy $50 that RR would take a team(he doesn't even have a job) to a BCS game before UM. I truly believe it too. The numbers may not lie but they don't always tell the entire story. JH had damn near the same record after 3 seasons at Stanford as RR had at Michigan. Now one is treated like a god and one is treated like a bumbling hill-billy.

So we are going to hire a HC So we are going to hire a HC who runs an offense "similar to RR's" but who would have to find a new DC? Wouldn't that be a brilliant move.
Damn dude, I'm ready to suit Damn dude, I'm ready to suit up. Nice speech DB.
On a side note, Lyons just On a side note, Lyons just made a hell of a play in the game, it'll be nice to see him commit somewhere else too.
Damn son, I love a dedicated

Damn son, I love a dedicated drinker!  Keep up the good work.

.....and RR was the pretty

.....and RR was the pretty cute chick who would have done anything to be with him, including dropping 20 pounds but he didn't want anything to do with her.  He'll regret that in 3 years when that sleezy chick bangs another dude.

You read my mind. I picked a You read my mind. I picked a piss poor time to quit drinking!
This sounds like it has to be This sounds like it has to be right, Michigan is hashing out a layaway plan to pay back LSU for taking their coach.
I believe you are right. Who I believe you are right. Who in their right mind would want to endure this mess? Even though Rosenturd says its still a premier job, its aholes like him who ruin it for any potential bright, young potential coaches who aren't "Michigan Men". That leaves us with few options and those who said "just go get Harbaugh" better get used to mediocrity for the foreseeable future.
We didn't even belong in that

We didn't even belong in that bowl game.  The only reason we got invited is because of the potential ratings because of the large national fan base.  I can't figure out why so many people(DB included) really thought 15 practices were going to make a difference.  If we were in the Pizza Pizza Bowl where we belonged, we would have won but still had the same glaring issues.  Would RR have been kept then?  We needed a new defense, not a new HC.  We have just become ND.  The real question should have been:  Who gives us the best chance to win in 2011 and 2012.  It sure as F' isn't Brady Hoke or any other coach other than RR.

I don't mean to be naive but

I don't mean to be naive but if what some of you say is true, DB has already made his decision to fire RR and hire JH, doesn't that make him a pretty bad liar?  Is that what "Michigan Men" do?

If JH is the right guy for the job, he wouldn't mind staying at Stanford another year to see how next year pans out w/ RR as coach.  If he's that good of a coach, his stock will only rise at Stanford and he would have that many more opportunities to coach somewhere else next year.
