I played tenor sax for four years in the MMB under Nix and we absolutely played as the "wall o' sound." Any of the other MMB alumni that played with Nix must remember at the end of each show when we'd hold the note, and then he'd shake his arms until he was about to fall off the ladder, but we'd blare it twice as loud.
That said, there MUST be video of Nix and the band doing this somewhere. I think Boerma better start watching some tape...
... but it breaks my heart that we can't hear the Victors even once out in Section Denard. I love that name btw, and section 16 is where I've sat since 1994 with the exception of my 4 years in the (previously louder) MMB. I will absolutely be emailing Boerma, because game day doesn't feel like game day without the Victors and T&W, and seeing that it's being played over in the student section doesn't count.
If they're going to play something over the speakers, can't they mike the band? Please!? I hate only hearing the visiting band week after week in section 16...
