One of my best friends is an Iowa grad/fan and needless to say, he is not happy. Just a terrible hire.

Not a huge fan of co-OCs but Campbell and Hart splitting duties could be good as pass game/run game coordinators.

This is going to be a tough…

This is going to be a tough loss for us. I think Minter had a special ability to call the right play to attack offenses in the right way at the right time. You know how there are ruthless Madden/NCAA style offensive coordinators who can just attack with the right plays. Minter is like a defensive version of those and I am worried that we'll miss that. I think that if we maintain scheme, we will still have an elite defense. We have the ballers on that side of the ball, the talent.

The story I've heard is that…

The story I've heard is that both MacDonald and Minter interviewed for the job and Harbaugh liked both but ultimately went with MacDonald. Minter, rather than stay with Baltimore, went to Vandy to have an opportunity to be the DC and a year later, after MacDonald left, Harbaugh called. Minter going to college was more about getting that DC experience. Like you, I'd love to see him stay another year. I honestly feel like we could run it back if we kept Minter. At the very least for the Big Ten.

I worry about the expanded…

I worry about the expanded playoff as it is definitely more of a money grab than anything else. I know we have NIL set up but we don't have a solid system to compensate the players and we have a money grab before us that means more wear and tear on the players. The longer season is going to mean that teams will have to go easier on players during the season (like Michigan did for much of this season) or that guys will be more prone to injuries later in the season and might be missing due to injury (e.g. Jordan Travis).

We as Michigan fans root for the program, but also we root for Zak Zinter, Blake Corum, guys who give it their all but have missed chances to show out in the playoffs due to injury (Blake was lucky to be able to come back and show out). These programs stand on the backs of these guys, we need a better system for them.

Who's to say that we don't see another FSU situation play out. A team with plenty of stars but injuries to some key players might see some opt outs if they're playing a healthy, strong opponent. Why should those guys risk injury in a game they're likely to use? Just because it's the playoff? I think we're going to see the product dilute a bit. I am not saying that I'm complaining about more college football. I think it'll be exciting to watch. I just don't know if it will be all we want it to be.

It would eat at me too if my brother beat me and got the sports biggest prize on a bogus no call. I imagine Jim dreams about that pass interference on Michael Crabtree on fourth down once a week and it burns deep inside him. I understand why he wants to rectify that. I don't believe Jim cares that much about the roster he takes over because he'll get them playing. He cares that the front office isn't going to mess around on him again. The constant money figures seem a little out of hand and kind of a red herring. I don't believe Jim is after money so much as the right situation.

It's not a discussion we need to have but unfortunately seems to be a discussion that we'll have every time a rival or other blue blood gets someone of note.

Don't really follow the…

Don't really follow the Titans too closely but they had a rookie quarterback (Will Levis) starting most of the year and he was a high second round pick. I know they had a disappointing season, but I don't think they should have fired Vrabel. What's more is that they're probably going to have a worse coach coming out of this.

Thanks, Seth

Question from someone not…

Question from someone not really following the portal - is the premise of this a real threat? Are our rivals trying to steal our players? Or is it that there are other opportunities (e.g. NFL) that might take our players away? Regardless, I want our guys to stay and get rewarded for it. Just the premise seemed fear mongering vs lets reward our guys for staying. Genuinely curious!

Honestly, Minter is the guy…

Honestly, Minter is the guy they show on the sidelines and makes me feel calm. I love his energy and have a trust in him to make the adjustments necessary to give us a chance. IDK, I loved Don Brown but Minter and MacDonald have been breaths of fresh air as our DCs.

IDK what the Jags are doing…

IDK what the Jags are doing but if they do go ahead and hire Leftwich, Foote is supposed to be the top candidate for the DC there, so there might be a bit of a waiting game there. I also don't think that, while Foote is a big Detroit and Michigan guy, he has an incentive to leave the NFL at the moment.

As much as I'd love to see…

As much as I'd love to see Jim Harbaugh and Bill Belichick spar it out twice a season (Niners-Pats several years ago when Kap was still QB is one of the best regular season games of the last...15 years IMO), I don't think going to the highly dysfunctional Dolphins organization is a good idea. I'm guessing a lot of you are Lions fans (I'm a Pats fan fwiw) and are hoping he doesn't go to a division rival. I'm hoping he doesn't leave at all and if he does, he's in a position to succeed.

Haha, I saw the name Cohasset Punch and I was like "isn't that...in Massachusetts...why is he talking about Chicago and Detroit?" Interesting history, sounds like a good cocktail!

I'm surprised the Bell…

I'm surprised the Bell injury hasn't been brought up more, and rather surface record guesstimates have been made. It looks like we lost our best WR for the season. While it may benefit the other guys to get more playing time and becoming The Guy in getting more playing time, I do think that this hurts in the short term (next 4 games) especially. I think that one of our biggest issues the last couple years has been the lack of playmakers on both sides of the ball. Losing one on the offensive side is big negative.

Hey canzior, I'm in NOVA too (for now)! I don't really have plans, hoping to head down to Richmond next month for my birthday (need to get my second shot first). As far as an international trip, I don't think we really have anything planned. It's kind of hard to think about going abroad right now.

This is cool. I imagine there's not a lot going on on campus that brings people together. I imagine being a student now is a lot different than the regular times many of us experienced when we were there. I'm happy that the students are getting some kind of unifying event.

I could totally see Mason making a career for himself as a gunner on special teams or something like that. He seems like a guy that loves football and football coaches love that and want guys like that. I think he'll at least have the opportunity, even if FB are less prevalent.

I prefer beer and my access to liquor is limited by the ABC stores here in VA. We've got the basics - Four Roses, Maker's Mark, Espelon, Tangueray, Tito's.
