Those short slants eat up lots of teams, but the problem is that they usually require you to hit a number of them consistently to move the chains. That's why I'm not as worried as some; MSU isn't going to just march down the field with short passes; this defensive staff isn't going to be caught off guard. And when they take those passes away/make them hard to complete, I'm not sure what MSU's other options are.

I wouldn't be surprised if Spurrier is retiring for an actual reason, not just "we don't want to fire you publicly, but you should leave" reason. The rest of the guys were just bad at their jobs and needed to go and/or, in Sark's case, wasn't remotely able to do the job.

I don't see MSU's line being particularly healthy, even if they get their guys back. Conklin and Allen are key members who have been hurt these past couple of weeks.

I'm going to guess Harbaugh is tops in both, followed by RR on offense and Hoke on defense. The other two parts of the former coaches' games come up the rear. Plus, if memory serves me right Brian didn't go into nearly as much RPS detail under RR.

When you win a Heisman, you can kinda do whatever you want when it comes to rooting interests.

Is it able to simulate the number of damaged cars by angry Spartan fans when they leave?

They always do, and usually without much drama. There are depth charts that guys are going to want to get away from, and some commits will go somewhere else for the same reason. These coaches have recruited a lot, they know what they are doing.

As a PSA to the board in general (and what seems to be an influx of new-ish/long-dormant users), assume that if you see a link on ESPN or Yahoo Sport's main page about a major CFB story related in some semi-logical way to UM, it's probably listed here.

This isn't really a discrimination issue, and I don't believe alcoholism is treated as a medical condition for any wrongful termination standpoint, so I can't see why he can't be fired for not being suited to do his job.

I now this site doesn't have the best search functionality, but just give a quick query to ye olde Google box to be sure this super-specific UM bit if information hasn't been posted in 3 days.
|18 hours 9 min ago||He's a good LB and integral||
He's a good LB and integral to the defense, but he's only out for a half and they have enough players in that front 7 to compensate for what I assume will be a couple of possessions. Also, MSU's offensive line is hurt and struggling, so if you can disrupt it with the front 4 I'm not sure how dangerous Cook can be on those short slants inside that losing a coverage LB like Ross will hurt you.
|18 hours 19 min ago||Hoke is a perfectly||
Hoke is a perfectly acceptable coach, I just think his ceiling is lower than you'd like at a place like UM. Put him at WKU or Purdue or wherever and he recruits solid defensive linemen, sometimes-successful offenses, and he wins you 6-8 games a year. That's perfectly acceptable for lots of clubs. He would be a great defensive line coach as well, but I don't think the job itself overwhelmed him as much as we came to realize that it takes a very particular type of person to be the HC at UM, and both Hoke and RR weren't the right fits.
|18 hours 33 min ago||UM has perfectly attractive||
UM has perfectly attractive women. My wife is from UM, and I obviously find her pretty cute.
MSU was never treated as an equal academically, so they had to have something else to fall back on. That girl you kind of liked in HS who was "super hawt" probably went there, so you get enough of those types in one room and that's what happened.
I think the big difference between the campuses is that MSU tends to be less cosmopolitain, more Michigan/midwest-centric. So you get this mindset that the attractive women in your HS go somewhere, and that is MSU for a lot of people. But it's grading on a curve IME.

It feels unlikely, but why the heck not at least investigate the option. I get why the rule exists, but it does feel like Mario got kind of screwed in the whole process.

You really can't pick a better game to visit. Hopefully this gives a nice bump to his recruitment.

They do have a rash of injuries, but at the same time it's not like their flaws as a team are simply because a freshman DB is hurt or their "best LB" - who I read numerous places they thought was expendable - went down to start the year. They are a good team, but that defense has been taking a step back for 2 years now, and none of their RBs look particularly good regardless of the blocking ahead of them.
They are a good team, but their top ranking always felt based on pass performance, not how they've actually looked this whole season.

OSU's offensive ranking will undoubtedly trend up, but they really don't seem as dynamic as they were in years past. UNLV looked decent against SJSU yesterday; that is looking more and more like a quality-ish win.

Doesn't surprise me given the changes at USC, but I wonder if he's all that interested in UM. Seems like ND is the fallback.
|1 day 11 hours ago||Yeah, I forgot during the||
Yeah, I forgot during the write-up but it was a nice bit of playcalling. Harbaugh really doesn't seem afraid to run anything, and it allows him to put up these offensive performances with sub-optimal pieces.

Oh yeah, same here. Hell, Maryland scored 28 points against OSU this week; UM's defense has allowed 31 points all year. It's astounding.

Yeah, both Harbaughs deserve a lot of credit for making this happen. It does seem like Harbaugh is happy with the guys he has at the position, and it is playing out like that. Hell, Ian Bunting hasn't seen the field much these past couple of games and the offense hasn't missed a beat, which is huge for the position.

I feel really bad for Sarkisian because it sounds like he has a pretty terrible drinking problem. This isn't the first time he's shown up drunk, and to be entrusted with over a hundred student athletes and being afflicted by a very real disease is heartbreaking.
