I hate Comcast with a passion. I've cut everything I can from them except internet since I have zero options right now. I would pay more for slower service just to be done with Comcast.
btw I have Dish (very happy) for TV and Verizon (better than Comcast) for phone.
If there is a worse corporation in America than Comcast I don't want to know who they are.

My son like Ahmo's and I think it is okay for fast Greek. There is one in the Union and one at Division and Huron. Mezes on North U seems to have good reviews but I've never been there.

Used to be on the corner of State and Washington across from North Quad, which to old timers was the Frieze building and to really old timers Ann Arbor High and the Public Library. At that time it was pretty different as there was not a Coney Island on every corner.

The old farts out there will remember Huron Valley Bank (founded by some small Ann Arbor businessmen and later sold to Comerica). They once had a signing day with Willie Horton, Denny McLain (as usual he was a dick) and I think Freehan and maybe Northrup. Have no idea where those pictures or autographs are today but it was a big day in A2.

There is still plenty of squalor, my son's last two years proved student slums are alive and not so well. Single pane glass and making students pay for heat is still "in".

When Bo was married to his first wife Millie he live in "normal" home on Arlington near Devonshire, but he was not pulling down several mil. Canham lived on Newcastle. Ufer might have had the nicest house of the three at Overridge and Glenwood.
Maybe I should start one of those Hollywood style bus tours of old Ann Arbor athletic haunts.

Agreed. Dated an MSU girl who was not a huge fan so was fine to be with. My wife is from U of M Dearborn. Would not touch a Buckeye with a 6 inch pole.

Most MICHIGAN thing you've ever done? (funny, memorable, etc.) - Lived on the same street as Canham (took in his mail when they were on vacation), a block from Ufer and about a mile from Schembechler. Went to school with Bo's stepsons. Biggest in person Michigan sports memory #3 Michigan beating #19 (and future NCAA champ) Marquette 69-68 on March 6, 1978. Michigan's star player Ricky Green was limping around and ineffective but Michigan still won.

Try doggy day care if you have a good one and can afford it. We took our puppy to doggy day care frequently. She loved it, came home, ate and then passed out. Maybe a couple of days a week?
We did the puppy route but my wife and kids were home to take care of her. Still going at 15 years old - Welsh Springer. Other than happing a puppy is fun I think an adult adoption is a great choice.
That and look for your next job at a place that that offers work at home or allows dogs at work part time. I have a work at home job now and it makes caring for an old dog easier.

I too liked RR's offense, but I would not take him over JH. But at times that offense was great to watch. Growing up on Bo it was great to see some wide open offense (like when Lloyd would get down by 3 scores and open the playbook).
I also thought RR>BH and figured RR would get to a BCS bowl before BH but missed onn that one.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Not according to this||
It seems like better helmet technology does help, but what technology and by how much is the question.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||I can't believe there is not||
I can't believe there is not a better helmet design by now. Using 40 year old tecnology seems odd. Could you use a soft outerlayer wuth a semi ridgid liner to cushion the blow? Being hit by something other than a bulletproof hard plastic shell should be examined.
I played for Tappan Junior High in the 1970's and we still had some leather helmets and getting hit by someone wearing a leather helmet was less painful than plastic. They provided more cushion in my opinion. Isn't there a high tech way to significantly improve the helmet and make it less of a weapon?
|11 weeks 4 days ago||So the community college or||
So the community college or commuter college (aka U of M Dearborn for example) and good frugal alternatives, but there is something to be said for the college experience. I think many of my generation (kids in college now) tend to do too much for their kids and the experience of fending for yourself is a good life lesson. Handling money, paying rent, washing clothes, finding an apartment and figuring our how to feed yourself - among many others - are good things our kids learned.
I see the college as training wheels for life where mistakes seem to cost less.

Slightly different perspective. My father covered my college in the 1980's and he said it would be an in state public school unless I wanted to study something not avaialble at those schools. I'm not sure an 18 year old is in the best position on how to spend $200k+. If you can afford it that is great but I would rather have that money in my account towards retirement. I ended up offering the same deal to my kids, I would fund an in state education and they would have to cover the difference if they wanted to go to a private school or out of state. btw some out of state schools and private schools cost less than Michigan in state does.
I like the idea of avoiding student loans and the idea of a frugal education, as long as it meets the needs of the student. My wife lived at home and communted to U of M Dearborn. I do however belive there is some value to going away and living in a dorm.
My brother dropped $200k+ on a daughter to go to Harvard to study anthropology, I certainly would not have done that but it depends upon your avaialble funds.
I think your retirement needs to be funded before your kids education. If you can do both great but it should not be one or the other.

Still pissed that they are showing American Sniper? Thanks for injecting politics into the conversation.

Universal life is the worst. I used a 529 because I was not eligible for an IRA based upon income. I guess that means I'm rich. Does that mean I can get rid of my 10 year old Chevy truck with 100k plus miles and get a new BMW? You can shift money between 529's if you have more than one child.
I have one child graduating from Michigan in May and another that is a sophmore. I leaned on the 529 when both were in school at the same time and cash flowed some of the expenses when I could.
