I think staying would enable him to improve his stock. Work more on his handle, be the primary scorer next year, get stronger. I think he gets better and has better stats if he stays. I don't see how his stock goes down if he stays next year but could see it going up. I have not see enough our of GRIII to think he will be a great NBA player, too many holes in his game right now. McGary is the most NBA ready from an athletic standpoint but I think he really needs at least another year to work on skills. |

I worked in Southfield for years and Shields was more convienent than the Buddy's in Farmington Hills. I like Cottage Inn but Shields is better. I've never tried Jets as their crappy commercials made me think they sucked. I'm on a diet so no Pizza for me for awhile. I worked at Domino's HQ in Ann Arbor in the late 90's and they would deliver a hot pie to your desk. You could not just get a slice, contributing to my current weight siuation years later. For some reason a Domino's Pizza at HQ was pretty good. Plus you could volunteer to "help out" in the test kitchen by trying new pies, dough etc |

Purdue was 11th in the Big Ten in Free Throw %. They hit nearly 85% last night I think. If they had shot their average from the line it would have been less of a game. Our rebounding does blow however and I saw laziness in getting back on the break. Hopefully they can cure that. There were a few times on the Purdue break I was yelling "stop the ball!". Also a lack of charges taken was surprising, must have been poor defensive rotation. |

Excellent. I think that is part of the DB problem. It's sometime less his message than how he delivers it. "condescension and dismissiveness toward those who view things differently" is spot on. I think he has done a decent job. I don't mind the money grab, but sometimes he seems like a sanctimonious prick. A game my Freshman year The Aggies had trounced highly rated Texas Tech in Lubbock the week before to become the fifth-ranked team in the national polls. They had an improving defense and, more impressively, enough offensive weapons to make NATO envious: David Walker, a heady senior quarterback; Curtis Dickey, the leading all-purpose runner in America (172.3 yards a game); Tony Franklin, who was averaging three field goals a game and George Woodard, a massive fullback who blasts into the line with the impact of a boulder hurtling down a steep slope. A&M ran 273 pound fullback George Woodard into the center of the line 39 times. |

In selling to certain audiances you need to have the appropriate message using the appropriate channel. I still think we are getting a heavy dose of Domino's/NBA Marketing hype. I think they can get the same or better results by not treating us like idiots. Not bringing the band is just plain stupid. Can't afford it? Then at least try passing the hat. I get selling, I get marketing, I get the need for money but I feel the approach is overly aggressive. I bet we could round up enough money here to send the band. Three missed field against OSU in the last minutes of the 1973 and 1974 were the worst. In the 1973 Michigan–Ohio State game, we missed two fourth-quarter field goal attempts. With the game tied 10–10 we missed a 58-yard field goal. Got another shot with 24 seconds left to play but missed. Both teams finished the 1973 season with identical 10–0–1 records, and the Big Ten Conference athletic directors voted to send Ohio State to the 1974 Rose Bowl. Because Big Ten rules at that time allowed only one team to play in a post-season bowl game, Michigan did not play in a bowl game despite having an undefeated season. In 1974 Ohio State led 12–10 nearing the end of the fourth quarter and we missed a 33 yard field goal to win that game. I was at the Iowa, Syracuse, Oregon, the horror and many others but these two were the worst. |

I don't have a problem with them asking whatever they want but I'd hate to see a 1/2 empty arena Corporate buyers also tend to be no shows for the crappy games so expect more of the games like with the Red Wings, sell outs with a bunch of empty seats for the games with Columbus. |

I call bullshit. Michigan is great at taking but not so good at giving. You will find out when your kid is trying to get accepted (btw mine did) and the University treats you like crap regardless of past donations. They like to pretend to be a private school when asking for donations but then have amnesia when it comes time for them to give back. The same for tickets. I understand the need for revenue and don't have a problem with PSD's but at least give some credit to the season ticket holders who have shown the loyalty for the crappy BB product they have fielded for more than a decade. "Thanks for the loyalty, where is your $7,500?"

| 1 year 11 weeks ago | This already happened once |
My Dad had 4 near center court tickets about row 8 or 10 (the last row of the temporary seats) since Crisler opened in 1969. Several years ago they reconfigured seats to bring students to the sidelines and he lost those seats because he did not pay the required fee. They did allow him to keep 2 seats nearby without a fee as I remember and got 2 got moved into the upper bowl about 1/2 way up on the sidelines. They have touble selling tickets to many of the games today so hopefully Brandon will tread lightly. I do see guys like Al Glick (the guy who donated for the football practice facility) on the sidelines that will pay whatever is needed but don't think there are a ton of wealthy die hard M BB fans. The diehard BB fans I see are old and remember the glory years of the 70's and 80's so I'm not sure how this will play out. I don't have season tickets because the driver from suburbia is a pain in the add during the week in the Winter so I just buy on the secondary market for peanuts for the cheap games. They have to market the hell out of the games to even sell them out, not sure how successful PSD's will be. |

"revoke student ticket privileges for people who don't bother to show up" I think this would be great. I have less of a problem with late, but when there are ton's of empty seats in the student section for Nebraska then something is wrong. If you are too busy or stressed to attend the games then don't buy tickets, or do a ticket share with a fellow student and split the games. | 1 year 35 weeks ago | Completely agree |
I thought there were a few calls that were ballsy and unconventional. The one where Denard threw an interception near Gallon on the sideline. The conservative play would have been to push for field goal position as they were only down 3 at the time. As you mentioned earlier the defense was balls to the wall on many ocassions. I can live with MANBALL if we go for it on occasion. The telling point will be when we are ahead by two touchdowns, how do we play then? |

I grew up in Ann Arbor went to school there and have two siblings there but would not recommend it unless you are left leaning. If you are a conservative or even in the middle some of the policies in the school district will make you crazy. Very cool place before kids and after kids but I would not want my kids to put up with the stuff I had to in the 1960's and 1970's. I live in Milford (which is a cool little town) and commuted to Southfield. The Huron Valley Schools are pretty good (not Birmingham or Bloomfield good) and housing is very affordable. You are away from the malls but not far from Novi if you need to go there. Downtown Milford is small but cool. I like South Lyon as well. I've lived in Farmington Hills, worked in Southfield, Troy, Novi, Livonia, Ann Arbor, Oak Park and I like the less suburban areas like Milford and South Lyon. I'm not too far from Ann Arbor and you can avoid highways by taking Pontiac Trail which is a nice drive to A2 |

My son is a senior as well. He is still waiting to hear from Michigan and Case Western. But is in at Univ of Ill. Since he does not know what he wants to do and will enter in LS&A someplace. I'm not opting for the $50k a year out of state school. He will have a couple of private school options at about the same price as Michigan is instate. Michigan for him is choice 1, 2 and 3 with everything else 4. Unless your son is dying to be a Wolverine, or Michigan offers something he can't get at is other choices I'd save the money or let him pay the difference. My dad paid for my college with this caveat "you are going to an instate public university unless they don't offer something you want to study". I ended up at Michigan in Bschool which turned out great. If we were out of state I'd be probably paying for Michigan because that is the only school he wants to attend. Be careful how much brainwashing you do to your kids or you will end up like me.

| 2 years 8 weeks ago | I agree |
My son has applied and has virtually all honors and AP classes. His grade point is .3-.4 lower than a kid in his school with the same ACT and no alumni parents. Kid with the higher gradepoint without honors or AP classes was accepted to Engineering while my son has been deferred (applied early October - I don't think applying early helps anymore). With the increase in applications due to the move to the Common App I think they don't look as closely at the actual classes taken. This year is a bitch to get in, I think it will be better in just a few years. However I think they are really pushing for out of state students to get more $$'s as the state cuts aid to the U. First get good grades (in the hardest classes you can get A's in), score high on the standardized test, show leadership/sports/etc. Don't sacrifice grade point to max out on AP classes unless you can do well in them. |

I usually don't bitch because bad refs go both ways. But I thought with the style of defense Duke played they had an officiating advantage. The hands checks and arm bars were never called. | 2 years 17 weeks ago | Offense = B- Defense so far |
Offense = B- Defense so far = A I think Hoke's greatest ability may be to lead and manage a team (which I think was Lloyd's main skill). For him to be a A he needs to hire A coordinators. I don't think he is a creative genius but will keep a team pulling in the same direction. Seems like he has leadership skills but needs to surround himself with a top flight staff. I'm really disappointed with his OC hire, he is ok but nothing special (not a great recruiter, not a creative genius, more of a plodder). I also want to see him get guys like Manny Diaz or Gus Malzahn in a few years if he can get himself established. |

| 2 years 17 weeks ago | Nope |
I see Borges running what he knows, he has never demonstrated the use of a running quarterback in any previous jobs. He does not know how to use someone like Denard (or at least has never demonstrated it). Good, bad or indifferent Denard will have limited use as a runner and anything beyond that is wishful thinking. He will be a runner like Steve Young was, an occasional scramble and one or two designed run plays like a draw. I would have liked to have seen more of a transition but there is no evidence that Borges or anyone on his staff has that experience. So we get to see Denard 2.0 in a different offense and we will see how well he adapts. The problem I see is that the new offense mitigates Denards advantages (running ability) and puts more emphasis on his weaknesses (throwing accuracy). I hope Borges can adapt but I simply see no evidence, yet. Not a bad thing for Denard if he aspires to play quarterback in the NFL, but no more multiple 10 yard rushing days. Thankfully we are also blowing up the whole defense! |

| 2 years 17 weeks ago | A whole different offense, |
A whole different offense, new plays, new reads, new terminology. I expect a very rough transition. Don't expect the offense to be equal to or better than last year in 2011. Hopefully Defense and Special Teams will improve enough to offset it. Without the threat of Denard to run as much you won't have safeties crashing the line leaving receivers incredibly wide open. Denard has not show the ability to be especially accurate with guys open, what happens when he is turned into a pocket passer and has to thread the needle. It seems like the right guy might be able to find some middle ground, and that guy does not appear to be Borges. |

"Borges/Hoke have made every indication that they will adapt the offense." Words, just words. I'm not convinced that have any idea what to do with Denard except to shoehorn him into what they know. Much like Threat into RR's offense. I remember hearing the same thing from RR on modifying the offense to fit the personnel, which sure did not work the first year. I would love to have had someone who actually demonstrated the ability to use someone like Denard in the near term rather than someone who has talked about it but never actually demonstrated it.. In the long run it will be fine but I think we are screwed with this guy in the short term. Sound familiar? |

Nice hire, if he only had hired a top flight OC I'd have two thumbs up for Hoke. Now it's one up and one sideways. |

Were Borges and the other assistant hires perfect? They seemed like warm bodies he knows and has worked with. Hopefully his DC hire will be a little higher profile. |

Heard he was staying at PSU. Also as I understand it if you transfer to another school in the Big Ten you have to pay your own way, so not happening. |

| 2 years 18 weeks ago | Ok, so why did we have to fire everyone but Fred Jackson? |
I get a coaching change and there will be defections. But defections after the coach is named are telling. I understand if you are a slot receiver or a dual threat QB, but kickers and lineman? Why couldn't we have kept one or two more assistants that would have give us some continuity in recruiting? My expectation is that Hoke salvages a decent class as we keep getting told what a great recruiter he is. It is much easier to keep a kid committed than to go our and get a new kid. I understand he has had little time, but as we keep getting told, this is a special place. He can't be judged for a few weeks but he better not sleep for the next two weeks. |
