Soooo...

I'm supposed to take the Twitter musings of Gabe Spiegel over the reporting done by The Columbus Dispatch, the local newspaper that has broken nearly every big "Ohio" story for decades?!   Ummmm....no sir.

Geez...

It's absolutely insane how quickly the Michigan fanbase freaks out! Dawson has probably been perhaps the 2nd or 3rd biggest recruiter for Michigan since he committed (only slightly behind Shane and LTT). He has been a part of recruiting sales pitches to Derrick Green and Joe Mathis at camps and over Twitter. He is very close to the rest of Team 134, especially JD and Shane. Why does everybody believe that he would just turn his back on them? They flew to the Opening together fergodsakes! David has stated himself that he just wants to go down to compete against some of the best in the country, and it's obvious that he is one of the most competitive recruits in the class. Take him at his word until we hear otherwise. If the coaches allow him to camp at Florida, then we must assume that they are confident that he is going to try to improve, not to check out the Gators.

I didn't either...

and I thought that you had to have attended an NFTC before being eligible to receive an invite to The Opening.  Oh well...congrats, Kyle!

Finally!

Wasn't sure I'd ever get someone to agree with me on that one.  Damn potatoes...

I agree...

with Wolverine 73.

No problem, bro...

I am just a fan like the rest of you.  Very proud to be a part of such a dedicated fan base.

Sam Webb's Recruiting Round-up - Commitments (plural) watch?

Did anyone else listen to Sam Webb's Recruiting Round-up Radio Show on WTKA 1050 today?  He started the show sharing his opinion on how Michigan was in great shape for Maurice Hurst, and then followed it up (at around the 3:15 mark) by stating that Michigan fans should be expecting "positive things for the Wolverines in the not too distant future."  He then said "not positive thing, but positive things," making sure to emphasize the plurality of the word.

I think all of us are fully expecting Hurst to commit sometime around his visit, but it sounds like Sam is aware of another potential commitment happening in June (he mentions the month of June around the 3:10 mark).  I've heard that we are in great shape with both Poggi and Treadwell, but I thought Treadwell was going to wait until his season began to decide.  My guess is Poggi.  Perhaps it's someone else off the radar?  Doubt it, but you never know.  Just thought I'd share...

This...

is exactly what I was going to say.  Hurst has been hamming it up with Shane, LTT, Dawson, and Khalid Hill the past couple days via Twitter, and he even re-tweeted some information about the Michigan-Alabama game and made mention of watching last year's MSU/OSU game.  His heart already seems to be into B1G football...I'd be shocked if anyone other than Hurst commits in a couple weeks time, or if Hurst doesn't commit to Michigan.

Big blow...

for the Ravens' D.  That line will not be as feared without him.

I'm all for

I'm all for moving Gardner to WR this year, but I still believe he is our #2 QB if something happens to D. Rob, and will be our "opening day" starter in 2013.

My opinion on this is...

...that this news should not cause Michigan fans to panic.   Isaac may have genuine interest in USC, but no kid can even begin to entertain the possibility of going halfway across the country for school without their mother seeing the school they may be attending.  I personally don't believe this is a case of Isaac trying to convince his mother to let him go to USC...taken at face value, it simply appears that USC can't even seriously be in the discussion without mom at least seeing the school and what they have to offer. We still have advantages over USC at this time that are hard ignore (i.e., proximity to home, family atmosphere, top recruiting class, familiarity with the program). If anything, this sounds like the Levenberry situation, except we are playing the role of FSU in this situation, as we have been recruiting Ty for quite a while, whereas USC just jumped in on him a few months ago.  USC appears to be making up some ground, but I still believe that Michigan is in good shape.

According to TomVH, they will

According to TomVH, they will give out stars for the ESPN 150 recruits, but that's it.

I originally thought...

...that we would have 8 players in the ESPN 150:  Shane Morris, all five offensive line recruits, McCray, and Thomas.

However, after reading the scouting reports for each of Michigan current commitments (ESPN has finally posted them for all our players), I have added two more to the list for a total of 10: Taco Charlton and Gareon Conley. Reading both of their reports got me so excited for their futures at Michigan, particularly Conley who has really been under-the-radar at this point.  Between his designation as an UA All-American and his scouting report, I believe he'll make the cut.

One guy who probably won't make the cut, but I think will be the sleeper of this class, is Jaron Dukes.  The scout who drafted his report stated he was a "more agile and faster version of (2012 Ohio recruit) Dwayne Stanford...and in our opinion more physical."  I know that I would've gladly accepted Stanford into the fold last year.  A better version of Stanford?  Yes, please...

Man...

that's very disappointing.  Getting him on campus early would've been so clutch.  By the time he visits for his official, he'll have been to USC a good handful of times.  Not as optimistic about him as I was an hour ago.

Congratulations...

to our future Wolverines!  I'd love to see good representation at both major all-star games, as both are nationally televised events that future recruits will be watching.  Also, having a handful at the Army and Under-Armour games would allow for a good press on any undecided prospects that hold Michigan offers at those games.

I'm assuming...

That they are giving Meyer credit for his past successes at Utah and Florida.  If that's what they are doing, then fine.  He's got the hardware to back it up, though It does feel strange that a coach can be ranked #1 in a conference in which he hasn't coached a game.  But then again, Hoke is #2 when he's only coached one full season, albeit a pretty successful one.  Can't wait to see the top 3 settle this on the field...
