Another pissed off White Sox fan here. Benetti had huge shoes to fill when he took over for the legendary Hawk Harrekson and he nailed it. Tigers got a great one and the Sox continue to tell their fan base they DGAF about us. Nothing will change until Reinsdorf sells the team (or he dies and the team is sold). Just take a look through White Sox Twitter and see how devastated the entire fan base is.
Looking for 4 tickets to the Rutgers game. Taking my wife and two kids for their first game at the Big House, and my firsts ince Illinois 2008. Not being picky on seats. Would love for the total price to come in under $400.
To provide some context, he is looking for a B1G team because he already has teams in the other major conferences he likes. He grew up in College Station so he’s a TAMU fan, and he went to Syracuse so he's obviously an Orange fan. So he’s got the SEC and ACC covered.
Prior to The Horror, I had purchased tickets to the Oregon game the following week, of course thinking I’d be seeing a top 5 Michigan team facing off against a strong non-conference opponent.
What I didn’t know is that I had actually purchased the tickets from an Oregon fan, so I was surrounded by their fans. Fortunately, they were actually pretty nice and educated me on the correct way to see Oregon.
Overall it was still a miserable experience following the previous game. Little did we know at the time just what that would portend as far as the next decade plus if Michigan football.
Got my tickets!!! I live in Indy and wasn’t able to go last year bc tickets were so expensive. This year we got lucky that Iowa blew it against Nebraska bc my wife has a friend whose Dad is an Iowa fan and buys tickets every year and sells them if they don’t make it. Section 534, row 1 for only $90/each!
Last year we did go to the Michigan Marching Band rehearsal at Franklin Central which is only 5 minutes from my house. I haven’t been to a Michigan home game in many years so I had an emotional reaction hearing the MMB play The Victors for the first time in a long time.
Then we went down to the fan fest and enjoyed the pep rally without none other than Carl Grapentine!
I am so pumped for those events again and to actually go to the game this year. Go Blue!
To start with the obvious—my teams winning a national/world championship in this order:
1) Michigan football (I was 9 in January of 1998, so I have decent memories of that season)
2) Michigan basketball (I was an infant in March ‘89, no Fab Five memories)
3) Chicago Bears (I was not yet thought of in ‘85)
4) Chicago White Sox (‘05 is one of the most special sports memories I have)
5) Chicago Bulls (I remember the second 3-peat well)
Other sports fantasies:
- One or both of my kids (both currently ages 6 and 8) excel in a sport to the point where they co to college on full scholarship, preferably at UofM (I will not pressure them on any of this, don’t worry)
- Witness a Michigan football victory over OSU and MSU in person, as well as a B1G championship game victory
- Win my fantasy football league that I started in college in 2009 (I’ve never won but I’ve lost more championship matches than any other member—I’m the Bills of my league)
- Sing the national anthem at a Pacers or Colts game (not a fan—I live in Indy)
Thank you all for the advice! Sounds like higher up is the way to go. U fortunately the Illinois game is the only possibility for us, so we will have to brave the cold. Frequent hot chocolate runs will be needed.
The seat by the aisle is great advice. I took my 5 yo to the UM-CSU NCAA tourney game (we live in Indy) and we were right on the aisle, it was fantastic. So easy to get in and out for bathroom breaks.
So glad to finally have Barry back! Such a great show and it was gone too long (thanks COVID). I read that they had the third and fourth seasons all written and ready to go, and that will be the end.
I thought it was pretty good. After they perfectly wrapped things up in Toy Story 3, I thought this one was really unnecessary. It at least didn’t really diminish the ending of 3, and they gave it a fairly satisfactory conclusion that (once again) felt like the end of the franchise. One thing I didn’t like was how so many members of the original gang barely played a role.
As spoiled as we are with Quinn, the lack of Michigan football coverage on The Athletic (as they are currently without a beat writer) has been a disappointment, but to see Feldman be the one who covers them at the moment is exciting. I’ve always enjoyed following him.
Hard to believe he was in cardiac arrest. They just leave him prone that entire time. If he was pulseless they would've immediately rolled him and started CPR.
Has anybody seen a good video with a close-up(ish) view of Beilein as the shot goes in? I can see from afar his arms go up but I haven't seen a good angle where you can see his face.
Well sure, this is possible. You could also write up a worst-case scenario for every other team in the country, one of which would include Ohio State losing to their archrival at home to lose their bid to the B1G title game.
That would suck if they cancelled the UW series. Once they cancelled Arkansas I was afraid they would cancel more of these future series against top P5 programs. I know it's a bit different since we're also playing VT the same year, but I'd still rather watch us play good teams and not more MAC teams.
I went out with some friends after work, just a few years ago. I was 26 or so. One of my work friends couldn't believe I'd never had a beer so he really wanted the honor of buying me my first one. Because I'm from Chicago he bought me a 312.
It was terrible, as is every other kind of beer I've tried since. I just don't have the taste for it.
I prefer written because it's much easier to consume anywhere I am. I don't always have headphones and I'm not always in a place where I could watch a video without disturbing other. And no I'm not referring to being at work. I work at a fire station so I have plenty of downtime to watch anything.
The bit about how Beilein was talking up the UK support before the game but then they didn't really get that extra support during is really interesting because it's not something you'd ever get from a normal interview.

Fantastic Parks and Rec reference.
Money please!

I gather there was some sort of controversy where they tied but didn’t advance or something. I didn’t see it, just seeing Twitter reactions.

You didn’t mishear, that's exactly what he said.

This! Thank you. Even had cued up to the exact moment. This was very satisfying to watch!
And yes, I have already tried to find it on my own to no avail

We’ll see if it sticks, but as it stands he will follow GRIII and Caris LaVert as former Fresh Five members to become Pacers.

I live in Indy and I would gladly sleep on my floor and offer a bed in my house in exchange for a ticket.

Interestingly in 2024 we play all 3 West opponents first and then 6 straight against the East.
I'm still so
I'm still so bummed I haven't seen a good close up shot of Beilein when the shot goes in.

Smith was very positive about the whole experience and about Harbaugh as a person, coach, and even father.
