Justin Fields has had enough…

Justin Fields has had enough good fortune just handed to him that I believe he will be able to bear the weight of being drafted super, super high by the wrong NFL team and then underperforming.

I'll always love Juwan, and…

I'll always love Juwan, and I hope we can find a really good college coach

I think Warde has already…

I take it all back.  Hopefully we find a great ne coach and rise again.

Ever since 1994, if I hear…

Ever since 1994, if I hear the phrase "pretty please with sugar on top" I silently or audibly finish it with "clean the fucking car". I am unable to unjoin the two phrases now.

Ohio State already has…

Ohio State already has Michigan's playbook, and all of our signs.

Yeah, I would just hate to…

Yeah, I would just hate to have a nearly uninterrupted string of Zeke, Weber, Dobbins, Henderson.  What magic was Ohio State using to make their offense work with such slim pickings?

You're right, but listen to…

You're right, but listen to Klatts in-game coverage of the 2016 & 2017 Ohio State games, and you may start to agree with mgro.  He was calling ref shenanigans in a way that, say, Musberger never ever would have.

This is only slightly…

This is only slightly intriguing.  Wake me up when this fricken laser beam can be mounted to a shark, so I can use it to terrorize my randomly captured foes.

I finally read Moby Dick…

I finally read Moby Dick over the past month or so.  What an amazing piece of work that book is, I can see why its considered a classic.  This will not hit everyone necessarily, but the depth and quality of written work in the 19th century is almost unbelievable considering what gets published, yelled on TV and screamed out by social media today.  The clarity of thought and explanation of the human as a combination of animal and high intellect in the same being seems to have peaked in the mid- to late-1800’s. I would suggest anyone read the classics from that time period (Crime and Punishment, Moby Dick, Thus Spake Zarathustra, War and Peace, Brothers Karamozov, etc, etc).

I would take beilein back in a heartbeat.  Not happening but very welcome in my book

I share this sentiment.  We…

I share this sentiment.  We may not get another Beilein, but we have to take some kind of action and attempt to improve from this mess.  Love Juwan forever regardless, it's just not working, he's not a college coach.

14 is about the stupidest…

14 is about the stupidest number of teams to put into a playoff.  8, 12, 16 all have better logic, and 12 & 16 have about the same dollar value.  College football history has very clearly proven that the difference between the 4th and 5th team is far less relevant than the difference between the 2nd and 3rd team, so giving only two byes is also going to be arbitrary and unjust.

It's like they are actively trying to do the dumbest things, and then the people in charge of this will throw their hands up and claim CFB fans can never be satisfied when their stupidity is exposed.

Impossible.  Harrison is the…

Impossible.  Harrison is the best wide receiver to grace a college field in the last 20+ years according to all who are paid to speak about it on TV.  None are better , including the handful of generational talents that preceded him at Ohio State and the other handful on their roster or coming in now.

Ohio State is the king of…

Ohio State is the king of self-reporting small violations.  It's so obviously strategic that you wonder why the people whose only job is rooting out things like this still accept and just move on after 15 years.

Speaking of which, I'm…

Speaking of which, I'm guessing Blake is in the process of dumping a lot of that bulk that he put on in 22 and 23.  His 40 time and M resume are going to be more important for him than weight lifting stats at the combine.  If he combines his actual history with a 2021 era Blake Corum 40 time, he may go in the 2nd round.

Did he do his opening press…

Did he do his opening press conferemce in thick rimmed glasses and a bushy "mustache"?

Unless you rupture your…

Unless you rupture your Achilles tendon, which is what I understand happens to literally every single person over 40 who plays pickle ball.

You'll be fine for two days…

You'll be fine for two days in a row.  I would suggest to get the most lessons you can at first.  If you're snowboarding, find a way to protect your tailbone.  Most people fall back to their butt a lot at first.  But also be aware that some people fall to their hands more and you may want to do something with your wrists, not sure what though, either an object or mindset to not overload your wrists while wiping out.

Bring or buy sunscreen if there is any sun peaking through at all.  The snow is white, and if the sky is bright, your face will be pink.

I think you should not place…

I think you should not place any demand on other fans.  Go and watch for yourself if you'd like, but don't blindly expect everyone else to be like you.  This team is nearly unwatchable, and Purdue is really good.  Is anyone surprised their fans would actually drive to watch them play?  Also, college is very stressful this time of year, so burning 4-5 hours that may have value to actual grades that go on a permanent transcript to watch this mess has to be considered extremely voluntary.

Umm   this is a stretch,…

Umm   this is a stretch, only a particle physicist would claim that is in the realm of possibility.  In 2020, I understand the players were pretty deeply devoted to Harbaugh and turning the program around.  And where is your Hutchinson on the hoops team?

I can twist my mind up just…

I can twist my mind up just enough to say Rasputin is Mark Dantonio in this story.

I thought at its roots, the…

I thought at its roots, the NCAA actually is the collection of university presidents.  So I'm guessing they will stop short of president punishment.

On our glorious national championship, no matter what anyone does in the future, no one can take away the reality of those games, that saga, and the ultimate prize.  Not that it will happen, but even if they stuffed our trophies in a basement next to Reggie Bush's Heisman, it wouldn't really matter to me.

Hiring someone to manage…

Hiring someone to manage their money is stupid though.  They already won the life lottery, they don't need to 5x their wealth in one year with any off the wall investment.  Even allowing idiocy with $26million of the total, it takes no effort, advice, or skills at all to dump $20 million into an indexed mutual fund and live on the $1.6 million per year that pays you.

With all the counselling and…

With all the counselling and other financial assistance resources NFL players have, all that money, and ostensibly an education, this is almost unbelievable.

The Maginot Line was as…

The Maginot Line was as necessary as two run stuffing defensive tackles, it just doesn't (and didn't) make the entire defense work all by itself.  Speed in space apparently kills in both football and 1940's era warfare.

Except the NFL actually…

Except the NFL actually manages itself and has legitimate advocacy for each of it's constituents.

Visualizing the retractable…

Visualizing the retractable lid on Ohio Stadium left up.  Giggling.  Thank you for that.

But don't overlook the…

But don't overlook the likelihood that M will put 10+ in the 2025 draft as well.

It will look different on offense, but the team should be pretty dang good.

I predict the Oregon game…

I predict the Oregon game will be the deciding factor on whether we get to the playoff or not.  9.5 is the right O/U.  Guessing we beat USC and UW, lose to Texas and Ohio State, and Oregon is a coin flip.

Beat Oregon, 10-2, in the playoff with a first round home game.

Lose to Oregon, 9-3 , probably out of the playoff, but maybe a 11 or 12 seed.

I thought we do offer big $$…

I thought we do offer big $$$ to proven performers.  That is Sabb.  We should have someone putting a significant package together for him.

In other news, Michigan State to nam their gym after Larry Nassar

I hope they win the…

I hope they win the Superbowl within two years and harbaugh comes back to Michigan forever.

I don't understand why you…

I don't understand why you feel so strongly that TV revenue generated by the football program has to be redirected to non-revenue sports.  Those sports have no more to do with the program's success than any other university department.  Let whatever amount that needs to stay in the AD stay in the AD, and earmark a percentage to the players on the team who earned the money.  The AD can live without (learn to live without) say 10 percent of their TV revenue, ticket sales and concessions.

Not exactly Lane Kiffin, but…

Not exactly Lane Kiffin, but back when he was playing I recall we all assumed Sheridan would one day be a great coach.  Maybe that day has arrived.

I won't feel much one way or the other about our off-season until the portal reopens and we see who is staying.

They could use the Drake…

They could use the Drake Stadium area and the adjacent intramural fields to build a decent sized college football stadium anytime they feel like it.

That's what the money is for

That's what the money is for

How much cash did other…

How much cash did other programs raise by crowdfunding.  Guessing Michigan is tops in the country there, and that our NIL shortage is in the big money end.  Our total fund is 6 million, while Ohio State is probably drumming up a ballpark amount of 20 million this cycle.

I feel great about Hunter!  Hope he's doing well and has a long hoops career ahead of him.

He or she who seeks The Knowledge on this site will find it.

That is a bad plan.  If that…

That is a bad plan.  If that was the plan, we should have just made Clink the DC now.  It's not like he lacks experience with this defense.  Did we learn nothing from Will Muschamp and every other "coach in waiting" since he left Texas?

We should expect Harbaugh to…

We should expect Harbaugh to go 100% toward what he thinks will win wherever he is today.  When that was here, he went 100% for Michigan, and now it's 0% for Michigan.  If we thought Harbaugh would do anything to benefit the program after leaving, that was just a mistake.  He's not working against Michigan now, he just finds Michigan irrelevant to the success of the Chargers and at the same time doesn't have any feelings about it.  Expecting Harbaugh to function based on feelings, even about Michigan, is misguided.

So hate him if you choose to, but there is no point.  Michigan has to stand up and make its program without Harbaugh, and I would suggest we've been very passive in doing so.  Sherrone and Warde have the responsibility to maintain and build the program, they both need to do it with a similar sense of urgency that Harbaugh clearly has, and had when he was here.

There has to be a countdown…

There has to be a countdown clock ticking for Day at OSU if they are going to bring in Kelly.  OSU will be dn good next year though so who knows, maybe he is just using this as a career reset.

Is this basically the…

Is this basically the Courtney Morgan role?  I hope we find someone as good , or just re-find Morgan.  I would suggest that this job actually be two jobs who both report to Sherrone.  The NIL part should be a full time job for at least one person, if not more.

You're listing things that…

You're listing things that occurred while Warde was our AD.  However, Warde appears to prove daily, weekly, monthly and yearly that he believes his best action is literally no action.  He doesn't appear to do anything, and things just occur because the coaches and teams are what they are.  Beilein and Harbaugh are all time great coaches, and it worked out for both on occasion.  The end.

Yes, please.  This is…

Yes, please.  This is Harbaugh just being himself.  When he was here, he arranged his situation so he could and would win.  Now he's elsewhere, and he's arranging to win.  It may or may not work, but there is no reason to expect Harbaugh to cherish something at the possible expense of winning wherever he is.

Warde does not give a fuck,…

Warde does not give a fuck, it is time for him to be removed.

I don't need much…

I don't need much provocation to agree that it's a good idea to move on from Warde as soon as possible, so this is more than enough for me.

Based purely on the view from outside, Harbaugh appeared and appears to have won the national championship in spite of Warde, not because of him.  And then we lost Harbaugh on Warde's watch using what, again, appeared to be an all-is-lost-anyway strategy aimed at face saving and not aimed at any actual success in retaining Harbaugh.

If the big concern is…

If the big concern is universities not having enough money as a whole to support on campus athletic programs, we're going to be OK.  From FAU to Washington State to U of M, and everywhere in between, one stroll around campus will prove that there is a mountain of cash flowing very freely to support the university and it's desired programs.

The thing is, the massive…

The thing is, the massive revenues that are currently withheld from the football and basketball players does not have an avenue to be paid to them by the universities.  Pointing out that they are employees and compelling the universities to treat them as employees builds that avenue to pay them.  Once that avenue is built, a reasonable amount of the otherwise egregiously misallocated money will find its way to the players.

Music school students are probably not employees because their bake-sale-level concerts don't generate enough revenue to fund anything more than part of the reasonable cost of administering the music program.  You could try to argue that the university AD's need every penny of their $65 million per year of TV money to reasonably support the football program, but that argument would be flawed, because that budget constitutes a professional team.
