This time last year, there were all kinds of complaints, largely about Trey Burke! I don't think a single person here had a final four run in mind on Feb 12, 2013.

They should replace the goal posts with a goal pole. Just a single post. Hit it and you score.

Green River, Utah is close to some of the best desolation this planet has to offer; Moab, Sleeping Ute, Canyonlands, etc. Even though you could die there, it was probably worth it.

Fixing the football situation is easy: drop M and OSU in the same division, move the championship game to a home stadium and go to a 9 game conference schedule, 10 if they expand further. In general, football is already well monetized.
Basketball is not, and the Big Ten is a dominant basketball conference. I bet if they expanded the B1G-ACC Challenge into a full blown conference wide tournament, broadcast on BTN and the ACC Network, they could make a lot of TV money and eliminate a bunch of body bag pre-conference season games. Two weekends in December plus the week in between, after finals and before the decent bowls start. I would watch that.

after you see what they are doing in Moscow for the 2018 World Cup. If one particular stadium actually gets built as planned, it would set a good precedent for this Silverdome concept.

Michigan Stadium goes 4 weeks in 2012, then 3 weeks in 2013 without a game in late September/early October. Whats up with that, are they clearing out the great weather weekends for weddings?

The winning strategy appeared to be all the fat guys lay down on the field when you get tired.
This worked out pretty well for LSU in the first half, since there is apparently no rule against that kind of delay tactic in college football.
|3 years 5 weeks ago||Great Idea||
I have one suggestion. A section for reader input, whether wiki-style or stream of mgoconsciousness for each play would allow the community to chime in with thier own insights, etc in a way that has not been possible outside of real time live blogs.
I'm imagining two scenarios. One, Brian UFR's a play and says, "I think ...(something)... but the coaches may say something different in the comments" Let the coachy types comment right there, specific to that moment, and make us all smarter.
Two, a certain moment in the game induces a seismic shift in someone's personal philosophy, or maintains their status quo, which was previously in considerable peril. Like when Greg Mathews caught that TD on the wheel route against State in '07, or Braylonfest; or conversely when Appy State and then Dennis Dixon tore away the curtain earlier in '07; some enlightened mgouser probably remembers, "It was at this point that I realized ..." Let us all witness the moment and perhaps be enlightened ourselves.
Just a thought. And speaking of considerable peril:

The surprising thing would be if the 2nd and 4th quarters were not a teams two worst defensive quarters, wrt to scoring defense.
On M's 2nd quarter flops, I think opponents spent the first quarter deploying their general gameplan and found the one or two easiest ways to eat up massive yardage. Then, they spent the 2nd quarter just eating up the yardage while we were powerless to stop them. RR/Gerg made some half time adjustments, and it was still bad but not as bad.

|3 years 6 weeks ago||Very good offense, piss poor defense. Why is it hard to accept?||
Arguing that Michigan's offense was not good enough, especially in that Wisconsin game, is like arguing that the moon should outshine the sun. It is absurd.
Even in the first half, the offense had two drives that would have been considered successful if they were delivered by a team that bothered to field a defense.
Possession 1: 1st and 10 from our one yard line, 35 yard drive and a punt to flip the field position
Possession 2: 50+ yard drive into the red zone earning a field goal attempt
Possessions 3 and 4: 3 & out resulting almost directly from a case of butter fingers.
In the third quarter the offense caught fire and scored as such.
RR did not suck at everything. At MIchigan, RR sucked at fielding a defense. RR sucked at fielding a kicking unit. He was fired because of the defense. He is legitimately very good at fielding an offense, and did so at Michigan.
