Yeah, when you start with…

Yeah, when you start with flat out wrong information to use as a foundation for your opinion it does wonders for your credibility, “Chief.”

Not a big win for me, but a big “L” for you.

I added the articles so you might learn a little. Seemed like you needed to. Carroll is talking out of both sides as usual, but he wasn’t fired.  He quit. So talking all about Carroll and what he never would have done, etc., is just garbage. I would help you understand the quote you seem unable to comprehend, but I’ve wasted too much time on you already.

Oh, and I actually am fun to hang out with, I just don’t hang-out with people that make sh*t up and then can’t own it.

That movie is amazing. Have…

That movie is amazing. Have to watch it again now.

Well, you are wrong just…

Well, you are wrong just like you hoped—see how things work out?

Carrol wasn’t fired, he quit because he saw the opportunity to jump ship rather than face the yet undetermined sanctions. Later when interviewed, he SAID that he never would have left if he had known how bad the sanctions were going to be, that instead he would have stuck it out, but he did leave for the NFL just ahead of the pitchforks.

Most people & sportscasters at the time had no ill will against Carrol because he had taken USC so far—even his AD was good with it—but Pete was definitely operating in the shade.

Back to Harbaugh.

He has built a program from the top to the bottom and won the National Championship through great recruiting and great coaching. His program is the standard by which all programs are measured. Striving for excellence is the cornerstone of the MIchigan way. His players know that. It is the fans that get all shivery about it.

Offer him the big contract and the shields he needs, but don’t begrudge him walking his talk.

Okay, but I get where he is…

Okay, but I get where he is coming from—this could be a "systematic breaking of the rules."

Maybe many more FSU players were illegally driven to cheeseburgers, $ and free apartments. Instead of negotiating in private with FSU, the NCAA should have warned all the other ACC teams on FSU's schedule so those teams could decide if it was still safe to play them. And maybe have a coach’s conference call.

I'm also thinking that “you can’t do until you finish the investigation” isn’t really the way the NCAA or the BIG have operated.

Not sure if this is true,…

Not sure if this is true, but I like it so I am repeating it...

Fun fact: Michigan is the first team since 1902 to hold every opponent to under 25 points

I don’t know. Once I start…

I don’t know. Once I start apologizing to wives...

No Bowl Game for Ohio State…

No Bowl Game for Ohio State. Then do an investigation.

That’s not how it works…

That’s not how it works. They will be punishing the university, not the coach. So they will require Ryan Day to coach the next 3 games. Hope I cleared that up.

When will this earth-shaking…

When will this earth-shaking news make it onto ESPN?

That is a great idea.

That is a great idea.

I guess it is which part of…

I guess it is which part of Saban’s history you are looking at.

I like to cherry-pick and remember that Saban was a mediocre football coach until 1999. His time at MSU was erratic—He would lose to an awful Gopher team and then go and knock off Ohio State. His 1999 season got him the job at LSU, well, that along with a pretty bad year for Mike Shula, but he was very unremarkable as a BIG10 coach.

He did master the SEC Art of the Money very quickly. Now everyone can do that. His team is deep, but so is ours and I think Harbaugh is the better coach.

I think he does the typical…

I think he does the typical Harbaugh on-field media thing: as Pettyti starts to talk to him, Jim stops and says: “This guy, you need to talk to this guy!” and as he leaves, pulls Conner Stalions over to accept the trophy.

I always enjoy reading this…

I always enjoy reading this.

I quote you all the time to the delight of everyone except my wife who tolerates it, but pretends it isn’t funny.

Thanks

I agree.

This Petti is just…

I agree.

This Petti is just petty and vindictive, and basically, dishonest.  The “University” being punished isn't what I’ve been hearing in the media—It is all that Jim Harbaugh has been suspended. Ticks me off.

I’m just glad Petti didn’t decide to suspend the concession workers and the janitorial staff at the stadium.

Watching a guy that big go…

Watching a guy that big go that fast, I thought when he caught him he was going to eat him!

I would like Sports…

I would like Sports Reporters to ask the BIG coaches that are trying to hammer Michigan a couple of questions:

1. Do you have someone on your staff that collects opposing team's signals?

2. Do you know where they get their information?

Bonus question; Do you have or have you ever had/seen Michigan’s signals?

Since according to the BIG,…

Since according to the BIG, it is punishing the University, not Harbaugh by suspending him.

Any successful legal action from Michigan punishing the BIG then should include provisions for the suspending or firing of Petitti.

Clearly nothing personal, not that we think he is a petty and vindictive A$$hat, that is just how it is done in the BIG.

Hmmm...There is an empty…

Hmmm...There is an empty shell of a conference called the PAC 2 that is all set for new tenants. WSU and Oregon State would LOVE to have us. Is there anyone that would like to come along?

The real issue, however, is to clean house at the BIG—And take it over. If not, leave.

This is going to be a total flame-up for the impending conference realignment. Watch USC, Oregon, UCLA & Washington now. This ham-handed commissioner is finished and those west coast teams will help show him the door or they will back out.

Let’s just suspend all the…

Let’s just suspend all the BIG head coaches next week. That would be actually pretty cool and may start a tradition.

That is a good article and…

That is a good article and well worth the read. Thanks for posting it.

If this Wild Stallion was…

If this Wild Stallion was sent to games by coaches to scout the other team, take videos and report back to the coaches using those videos, then that is a NCAA rules violation. Yes, it used to be okay until the mid-90s to do that, but you can’t anymore. Teams that couldn’t afford to pay for travel were at a disadvantage. One of the many great NCAA rules that obviously evened the playing field for everyone.(sarcasm).

Stealing signs is legal, this is more like “Illegal Scouting”. But that doesn’t elicit the same response as stealing signs does when you report it.

It is crazy that this hasn’t been dropped as a rule—Video of every game is out there now—but it hasn’t.

I am going to now ignore it.

Excellent writing as usual. …

I’m laid up with a bad back and keep reading parts to my wife who I think is pretending to be interested.

Agree with your take.

Teams…

Agree with your take.

Teams that are under-talented, under-coached and emotionally volatile need that extra motivation so they can play with heightened emotion. The theory being they will play better and at a higher level.

I’ve always felt the get-down-to-business model that Michigan has embraced is much more effective. Stick to your game, play your best, keep your head about you and have some fun while doing it.

Great story. I grew up with…

Great story. I grew up with the family.

When friends would fly out to Seattle, they would always stop and get cannolis to bring to us.

Mama Rosa let my wife walk the kitchen with her while she made her canolli recipe with the understanding that no-one, I mean no-one, else ever gets the recipe. 30 years later my wife won't even tell me.

Great memories and a great thread.

The Beer Vault

At one point…

The Beer Vault

At one point the oldest drive through beer store in the U.S. (according to the Beer Vault way back when) was in Ann Arbor "Since 1935"  You drove through and they brought beer, wine, sometimes milk and even kegs and taps to your car. Just roll down the window, well, except for the kegs.

Enter on Fifth, exit on Detroit (I worked there in the 70s)

Right Next to the world famous DeLong's BBQ

and the Ann Arbor Fish Market(Which later became Argerios Italian Restaurant).

Another business that would be interesting was Dieroff's Market

That was the corner store/butcher shop that became Zingerman's

All I know is old Ann Arbor.

Sounds good! Just be careful…

Sounds good! Just be careful & make sure that the foam cannon you get can handle the 3400psi. Many of them are made for lower PSI and they, like James Franklin, just can't handle the pressure.

Winterizing is important. I…

Winterizing is important. I was taught that after using a gas pressure washer, turn it off, disconnect everything and then pull the cord a couple times. This forces most of the water out of the pump. Since I do it every time after I use it, when winter comes, if I forget to add pump saver or forget to clean the machine out with my air hose, my pressure washers survive.

From much experience with…

From much experience with Pressure Washers :)   Go Gas. Honda motor. AT LEAST 3000psi. Get one you can pick up and load easily. The bigger ones are very heavy. You won't always have someone to help you load it and you'll be a dumb ass like me and do it anyway and strain your back.

My favorite that I have is a Simpson 3200psi 2.5 gallons per minute with a Honda 190GC engine.

Second is a Simpson 3000psi 2.4 gallons per minute with a Honda 190GCV (The V means the shaft is vertical.)

The best attachment I have is a 15" surface cleaner. It attaches to the pressure washer and you can clean sidewalks and driveways in half the time. You need at least 3000psi to make it work

Good Luck!

It wasn't behind a paywall…

It wasn't behind a paywall for me.

Great article. Michigan can and does recruit well.

Texas pressured them the whole game. They also had some pretty crazy coverage breakdowns.

Been hearing some very bad news from down there. Hope it is off-base.

Wish his family strength. He is a character that really is bigger than life in many ways.

Never played football, was a rugby player.

I agree.

But hearing them…

I agree.

But hearing them saying the best expert is a college kid is stretching it. Cade said he just went back to who recruited him to find out what was going on. He seemed to be amazed that those coaches were at other schools now--wow, what a surprise.

He is also a grad transfer, and that system has been in place for a while. He doesn't know anything else.

Wait until the tax bill comes due on these payments from collectives.

The unrestricted free agent aspect of this new system is insane. Dangle the money in front of the stars and haul them in. Meanwhile, most of the underclassman that enter the portal don't get picked up by anyone.

Those who stay will be…

Those who stay will be champions.

By no means am I a smart guy…

By no means am I a smart guy, but this is my take

Stacking the box to stop the run does help against inside the tackle runs, but it often gets confused with blitzing the QB. It is first about plugging holes. If the SS comes up to add to the numbers as you say, it leaves one-on-one coverage without much help and, with the skill set of Michigan's receivers, outside runs/passes are one missed tackle or one block away from taking it to the house. Michigan receivers can sure deliver that block. And one-on-one with no safety help is almost pitch and catch.

Playing man coverage without safety help is asking for it and a big risk to let the score get away from them quickly, so coaches are just hoping they can guess correctly, keep it close, and hope crazy stuff happens. I don't think it is arrogance, they are just trying to stay in the game.

(I wonder if our receivers blocking so well and often is why I don't see real separation on their routes? Do they like sticking DBs so much that they let 'em hang around so they can pop 'em? :)

AKA: The Flint Water …

AKA: The Flint Water "Incident."

First off, every team we…

First off, every team we played could "literally" throw a pass.

This team is so well coached that they are nearly NFL caliber in execution on both sides of the ball. It is this coaching combined with this new depth of talent that we have that gives the team such flexibility.

If UM needs to pass, they will. And the defense will make it tough on teams whatever they try to do.

LSU looked awful in their…

LSU looked awful in their game.

13-10?!

Barely hangs on to beat an Arkansas team that has two wins in conference and still goes up in the coaches polls.

The biggest issue I see is…

The biggest issue I see is the way that the early polls are used to establish the teams that will be in the championship games.

It could work, but only if the AP didn't publish the poll until after the second week.

There are always teams that are ranked in the top ten that don't belong there, yet they inflate the records and poll rankings of teams that beat them.

Everyone knows if a team starts high in the polls, they get to hang around. Voters don't want to look completely stupid, so teams don't drop very far.

If they waited until after the first 2 or 3 games--that would make sense.

Sounds like BYU

Sounds like BYU

The story has been the same…

The story has been the same all season: Harbaugh is all about body blows--early and often.

He wears down the opposition with power and great assignment football. By the time opponents have given their best shot they are tapped out and get pounded.

The M offense was not going to dominate the second half like they did if they didn't wear down the D-line of Rutgers, The M defense did the same to Rutger's O-line.

It is hard to knock out teams without the body blows, and Michigan knocks out teams.
