Baseball may be considered a revenue sport, but I have some fond memories of those games. Back in the springtime when most of the students disappeared, we used to bring folding chairs and coolers of beer and park out behind the outfield fences. It was the perfect way to start one of those college nights before the house parties began. |

I dislike Valverde as much as the next guy, but using ValTERDe reminds me way too much of juvenile State fans thinking it is clever to invoke to scUM. |

Both. I'm a pretty sympathetic movie-goer, but this one lacked much of a plot entirely. I am a fan of horror movies, but this one was less a horror film than an exaltation of violence and gore. |
| 1 week 3 days ago | There will always be |
There will always be unresolved closure for me regarding the OSU losing streak stretch. I grew up a die-hard fan, dreamed of attending a Michigan-Ohio State game as a college student, worked my tail off in high school with the sole motivation of watching one of those games as a student, and miraculously found myself living that Michigan dream from 2006-2010. Alas, I watched Michigan lose to Ohio State four timess during my college tenure - in person for three of them. After that last one, I sat in the stadium for what seemed like hours, pondering my ill fortune and also where the time had went. It was a hard dose of reality never seeing Michigan beat Ohio State during my college years, something that seemed to carry meaning beyond the sports world. |

Friday night advice: Do not go and see the Purge. God, the sports doldrums between the Wings departure and football season is brutal. |

I think I've heard all of the Griese bar/ frat stories, but this is something I haven't heard of. Care to elaborate? Considering football players usually travel together, I can't imagine such an incident would end well for the perpetrator. |

| 3 weeks 4 days ago | This team has been a real |
This team has been a real treat for long-time Wings fans. After years of being the victim of the underdog, the Wings have turned the tables to become the vaunted underdog themselves. All the essential components are there: clicking at the right time, a goalie playing out of his mind, youngsters from the farm system making key contributions. And after barely clawing their way into the playoffs, they are one game away from the Western Conference Finals. I've been a lifelong Wings fan, but this is such a unique experience to be treated to. |

If you're in the Michigan area the games are usually broadcast on CBC, the Canadian channel. Hockey night in Canada is one of the true glories that come with Michigan residence. |

440 foot blast from the best player in baseball. Sometimes I think I take for granted how special it is to be able to watch Cabrera on a daily basis. |

Light the lamp! Scoring aside, I think the key stat thusfar is that we're outshooting the Hawks. It would be a very quick series if we were anything close to the shot-line from Game 1. |

Drugs was my first inclination as well, not mental illness, although that could be a piece of the equation. Usually a guy who presumably has money doesn't go breaking into houses just for the fun of it. |

Some mother's day schadenfreude: Completing the hat-trick, news reports are beginning to trickle in of Titus Young's third arrest this week. This time around Young is accused of burglary and resisting arrest. I think it is safe to say, however, that this has quickly moved out of the realm of schadenfreude and into the category of just sad. |

Gonna be a diet mountain dew kind of night with the looming Game 7 for the Red Wings late on the west coast. Nothing like a game 7 in hockey in sports. |

| 6 weeks 1 day ago | Completely agree with you. If |
Completely agree with you. If a Ducks player did this to a Wings player everyone in hockeytown would be irate. I actually love Abby as a player despite his Sparty roots, and I am certainly a Wings homer, but I do believe Abdelkader left his feet - which is a big no-no these days. As for Abdelkader being a border-line AHL player, I'll respectfully disagree. He can be a big impact player for us when he is on his game. Bottom line is losing Abdelkader and DeKeyser could spell our doom. The wings simply were not that good to begin with, which should be clear to anyone who has followed them this season. Losing two guys certainly won't help our chances. |

I would presume and hope that the type of person that reads this blog would not need this advice. Yet it never ceases to amaze me how people fail to turn their phones off during important things. I've seen students' phones go off during exams and in the middle of representing someone in court. |
