I hope he does not go to the Commanders.  They have been a tire fire of a franchise and could ruin any quarterback.  I hope he goes to anywhere with any semblance of a logical organization, and the Commanders are not that.

This is the scene in Game of…

This is the scene in Game of Thrones I always think about whenever Ryan Day talks about how they are tough.

I often help to coach my…

I often help to coach my kids sports teams.  Sometimes as a coach and sometimes as an assistant coach.  This last soccer season, I assisted in coaching two teams, my 10 year old and my 12 year old teams.  Both teams were undefeated and won the local tournament.  We had a lot of talent and we got a lot out of their talent, and I was feeling good about my coaching ability.  Then I coached basketball for 10 year olds.  It did not go well.  We won two games and lost a few by about 30 points or more.  I got the most out of my players, but that was improving them from airballing their shots to hitting the rim.  It did not go well.  Players can make you look good or bad as the coach.

It is not something I…

It is not something I noticed as much in games, but I noticed it on a season long highlight real.  It was fascinating the number of times JJ threw or ran for a first down in a close game in the third quarter, then by the end of the game, Michigan was winning comfortably.  There were so many time he came through in the clutch that you can't measure on a chart.

I agree.  I watched the attitude era every week, but then got older and had kids and stopped watching for a long time.  It think the biggest issue they had for a while was overly scripting the wrestlers so you never saw their personalities, and everyone was super boring.  Then Vince kept changing ideas and stories so there was no cohesion.

To be honest, I was watching the old NXT primarily for a while because they had excellent matches, and interesting personalities.  Then the wrestlers got called up and were used the wrong way for forgotten about.  When they changed NXT, I gave up completely and have not watched a match in years.  May check out the rock segment at some point though.

I am currently reading…

I am currently reading through the Dresdin Files Book Series.  Very well written and fun if you are into fantasy.  I also return to reading at least one Terry Pratchett book every so often.  He has such a great blend of humor, story telling, character development, and philosophy.

I am nearing the end of the Dresdin FIles and am looking for another series to pick up next.

Geoff George spent 14 years…

Jeff George spent 14 years in the league because lots of teams took a chance on his cannon of an arm.  Not a lot seasons were great, but it got his foot in the door.

Goldeneye, but mostly…

Goldeneye, but mostly because of the N64 game of the same name.

If by favorite superhero you mean which superhero would I like to be, then it is easily Doctor Strange.  The sling ring teleportation alone would make it worth it.  If you mean fan, it is a toss up between Wolverine and Spiderman.

My favorite villains are the ones who consider themselves the good guy, or their means are justified by the ends.  With that in mind, I think Kingpin is great.

The hokey-pokey is not what it is all about.  There are too many great things in life to consider putting things in and out to be the most important things in life.

My parents have cable and I watch the games over there.  My dad and I watch the game and my mom gives my kids piano lessons or makes cookies or something.  My wife gets the house to herself for a few hours.  Everybody win.  Or I wait until Mathew Loves Ball come out with the 25 minute highlights.

I have tmobile which gets me Netflix and Apple tv.  I do Max, and every thanks giving Hulu does a $1.99 per month promotion with adds.  I also got Paramount + for a while because I am a big fan of Star Trek.  That Lower Decks/ Strange New Worlds cross over was amazing.  We also do Disney + for the kids.  Youngest loves bluey, and I am currently rewatching the X-Men cartoon.  They have some great episodes I can appreciate more now that I am older.

Looks like the entire staff were laid off at Sports Illistrated too.  The article says they did not renew licensing.  That seems like a big screw up, or they may have let it expire.

I want to say a huge thank you to those on this blog, and especially Brian.  The way you can artfully articulate feels that genuinly encapsulate much of my own mindset is impressive.  This blog, and your writing, is cathartic.  I am glad we can all finally celebrate the mountaintop.  It has been a long journey.

We have one.  With 4 kids 14 and under it is a huge help for dinner.  Much easier to make chicken nuggets, pizza bites, etc than placing them in the oven.  Pro tip, they make special parchment paper to go in the basket of the air fryer which makes clean up so much easier.

Just like the spot, I think…

Just like the spot, I think this play is a  rorschach test for your fandom.  I think a lot of people see what they want to be true.

I have been pacing back and forth for the last 3 hours.  Still am.  Need a bang.  Woooo

It seems like JJ does not do as well at home at night.  I blame the light show.

Hawt Take:

Michigan leaked the story themselves so teams have to change their signals the week they they play Michigan.  That way Michigan can profit off of their miscommunication.

Don't forget, when Jay…

Don't forget, when Jay coached Tight Ends Michigan's tight end won the award for best tight end.  (I forget who).  When he coached running back he recruited Corum and Edwards.  When he coached special teams, the special teams was rated consistently in the top 5.  Jay is an effective coach.

One of my favorite Craig Ferguson running gags is them saying "Careful Icarus" to each other.  I say this to my kids now when they are doing something where it warrants saying.  https://youtu.be/HTuyuUDWo2g

His name is already severely tarnished.   My guess is, since his name is already tarnished, what is more scrutiny.  I think he would rather be a pariah with millions of more dollars than accept it and move on.

I cannot definitively say it…

I cannot definitively say it is the reason, but I find it interesting that there were certain teams which reportedly paid recruits to play at their school in the past have done extremely well.  Now that all schools can offer money to students, and most of those school are no longer elite may or may not be a coincidence.  Georgia is the exception.

I did not think about it…

I did not think about it until this article that the Big 10 has an overabundance of helmets with a letter on them.   I could see not putting a cornhusker or a golden gopher, but a wildcat or a scarlet knight might make their helmet look better.  Didn't MSU have an S on their helmet before changing it a little while ago?

I had a friend who loves…

I had a friend who loves board games and invited me to GenCon.  I agreed, not knowing that it would be hosting 70,000 people for the event.  Places were easy to find, easy to get around even with traffic, and even with 70,000 extra people there it seemed the city could easily handle it.  I was impressed.

I agree.  My daughter is 14,…

I agree.  My daughter is 14, and started playing soccer at 4.  At 9, her soccer coach brought a few of the girls from the rec league to play division 3 select soccer.  She had a lot of fun playing for a few seasons, and was encouraged to try out for the division 1 team which she made.  That was a whole new world to me.  The team practiced twice a week all year, and 3 times during the season.  If they had a bad game or had a break, they would practice over the weekend as well.  Many of the girls on the team had a private instructor they would work with on days there was no practice or games.

I told her she could keep playing as long as she wants, but it was up to her.  At one point when I told her it was soccer practice, she grunted in frustration and slowly got her things.  At that point, I told her it was our last season with that team, and now she is much happier having fun again playing with her friends at school.  As you said, and am fairly sure most of the more talented girls are playing select instead of school, but as long as she has fun I am fine with it.

My daughter was there a…

My daughter was there a month ago on her 8th grade school trip with her class.  Very proud of her because she was one of four winners to place a wreath at the Toumb of the Unknown Soldier Memorial.  That is a memory she will be able to keep for a lifetime.

What is the difference…

What is the difference between yoked and jacked?

Also, Barry is a great show.  So much so that I tend to want to watch the next episode after I just finished that last.  I am waiting for the season to finish before I start watching.

I have coached my kids in…

I have coached my kids in several different sports, and always try to be reasonable and level headed with the refs.  There are times when I would be disappointed with an obvious missed call and can't believe the ref didn't see it.  Then my daughter was old enough to ref, and I took the classes with her because by the time I went home, it would be time to turn around.  At the end of the soccer season, they had so few refs that wanted to finish out the season I got called to do a few games.  I have coached one of my kids teams every year, some times more when they really need, for about 10 years.  My first ref experience was an eye opener because it is much much harder than you think it would be.  I tried to make the right call each time, but there was some plays that were so close, one team's coaches and fans were bound to be upset, and it is really hard to notice everything.  I have been much kinder and understanding to refs now.  (Except that one play where a really big kid threw an obvious elbow at a smaller kid on my team that knocked her down and left a big mark on her cheek right next to where the play was happening.  That no call was bad.)

In Junior High I was the starting running back and the starting linebacker.  The problem was, I was the starting running black during defensive practices, and the starting linebacker for offensive practices.  I was essentially a tackling dummy.  Our side of the ball had all of the small or non athletic people.

Funny thing, the coach assigned to help the offense shows us the play on an index card we were supposed to run.  After about 5 minutes of every play getting wrecked by the starters, our coach gave us a pep talk, which as an adult I am sure was insincere, but it worked.  Over the next 15 plays we had about 1/3 of them go for 10+ yards.  The head coach kept screaming at the defense and eventually made them run, while we watched and cheered.  I made it a few more weeks before deciding my body couldn't take much more and I called it a career.

If you are every bored, read through a list of Kiper's can's miss prospects from previous years.  Many of them missed.  He is a professional guesser who is stuck in an old football mindset, who is wrong as often as he is right.

Well said.  I know Mel Gibson is a controversial figure, but the ending of Passion of the Christ perfectly encapsulates John 3:16 and the meaning of Easter for most Christians.

While I have no rooting…

While I have no rooting interest in the tournament this year, I am heartened by there being no #1 seeds left.  With NIL, blue blood teams cannot go out and buy players to create all star teams and dominate those who play by the rules.  If anything, this season's tournament has been about experience and player development, both of which are good long term for the sport.  I think we are in a transition in college sports, but ultimately will be better off in the long run.

No Alabama or Clemson in football's playoffs was also a hopeful sign.

Me too.  I even asked some…

Me too.  I even asked some adults what kind of train a Pico Train was.  They answered me like I was setting up a stupid kid joke.  I really didn't know until finally an adult who was a fan of the show told me.

I was watching the game with…

I was watching the game with my dad this afternoon, and it reminded me of playing pickup games of basketball where the rule was no blood no fowl.  Many times in the first half players or both teams got knocked down painfully on a drive to the basket with nothing called.

Or he decided he would be a nice guy and "Pay it forward" in line buying hamburgers, and it just so happens that, coincidently, the person behind him in line is a football recruit.

At minimum, do not have a ref who graduated from a hated rival be part of a crew, especially in a championship game.

Took me a while to figure out what you meant.  At first I thought the link was a mistake, then I looked closer.  This humor is right in my wheelhouse.  I am sure there are not a lot of us, but I appreciated the joke.

Amazing second half adjustment.  OSU had 3 points in the second half!  Michigan coaches put their players in a position to succeed.

They did great when it mattered.  Huge individual plays throughout the game

Michigan really missing…

Michigan really missing Corrum.  He would have not stumbled, and the second play would have hit the cutback lane for an extra 5 or six yards.

You need 20 yards and get 3?

What I meant was, what…

What I meant was, what normally happens (and what is shown in the video) is players share the tunnel without incident.  Sometimes they even talk to players from the other team in a friendly and respectful way.

https://youtu.be/HTuyuUDWo2g

It seems as if both teams in the tunnel is a thing that happens.  This is last week, and my guess is this is normally what happens most weeks for as long as there has been one tunnel.

Michigan players start showing up around the 50 second mark.
