|1 day 11 hours ago||Imo one year of lost recruiting is meaningless||
if you can get Harbaugh here and establish him as a career coach. I mean, the effect of that one bad class will be 100% gone 5 years from now, while Harbaugh could conceivably be here for 20+ years at his age.
You've gotta be thinking longterm on this. I'd say get ahold of Harbaugh now and offer him the job and promise that nothing will be public until the NFL season is completely over. If he says no, then we'll have to look elsewhere. If it's anything other than a no, then I still say it's worth waiting. A great coach knows how to deal with adversity. Another strikeout and we'll be screwed for yet another decade.
|1 day 11 hours ago||So basically we have to count on the Lions and the Cowboys?||
In order to cut SFs season off at the end of December in time for Jim Harbaugh to get here? Dammit.
|1 day 11 hours ago||Oh no, they can always be worse.||
In fact, if Hoke returns I wouldn't be surprised if they were.
|1 day 11 hours ago||I don't know what the exact rules are||
but it seems to me the game is declared "over" once the playclock runs over the gameclock. Quite often you will see the winning team race out onto the field in celebration, yet I have never seen an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty called in that situation.
As for the complaint about the playclock not starting on time... there's almost always a 2-3 second delay between the time the play is declared dead and the time the playclock starts. Maybe that's not how it's supposed to be, but it happens on virtually every play.
|1 day 11 hours ago||Yeah it's possible||
but after the last 7 years I won't be holding my breath.
Unless we somehow nab Harbaugh. Then I won't be breathing until next August.
|1 day 11 hours ago||Um. Okay.||
Straw man much? Very few people here have criticized Hoke's character. In fact, most are of the opinion that his personal character is perhaps his best attribute.
The fact that a few people may be attacking his character is meaningless. It's the internet, you are going to get a huge range of opinions on pretty much everything.
|1 day 20 hours ago||This list is bull||
most of those teams head of Michigan had decent starts to the season but have recently tanked (Nebraska, ND, VaTech). Michigan has been a disastor the whole way through.
|2 days 22 hours ago||Man you guys are really dogging on Gardner||
Remember when he had the best YPA and QB rating in the B1G? That wasn't that long ago. It's not Gardner's fault he's regressed to this point. It's not the receiver's fault we won't be playing in a bowl. The team has fallen apart due to lack of accountability on sooo many levels. This is just flat out a bad team coached by a bad coach.
|1 week 1 day ago||Feeling bad for someone||
doesn't mean you condone their actions in any way. Or that you feel less sorry for their victims.
There's no shame in feeling bad for the fact that there are millions of young children out there who witnessed domestic violence growing up - or were themselves the victims of abuse - who are now passing that violence on to the next generation. Frank Clark may be one of them. Just because a football player was given lots of opportunities to correct their wrongs at the age of 18 (by the time their personality traits are already formulated) doesn't mean they're playing on the same level as those who grew up in much better living situations.
|1 week 1 day ago||When did feeling bad for someone||
become equivalent to condoning their actions?

we haven't even sniffed a Big Ten Title game appearance let alone a conference championship.

please show me some actual data that shows there is a correlation between socioeconomic status and football success that is independent of fundamental disparities in genetically-based athletic characteristics between different racial groups.
|2 weeks 6 hours ago||Anyone else think the thread title is a little misleading?||
Makes it seem like he has some special insight on the topic, which after reading the actual comments, does not appear to be the case.
Instead he's just spouting off opinions, which don't seem to be very carefully evaluated. I mean, our problem is recruiting too many "trust fund babies"? Really? Our 2012 and 2013 recruiting classes were ranked #7 and #5, respectively, on Rivals. These players were highly touted coming out of high school. I'm thinking the problem has more to do with what they do once they get here rather than their socioeconomical status (and I highly doubt that matters in any case). Sounds more like Larry is trying to rationalize the scenario in a way that subscribes to his preconceived worldview, rather than critically evaluating the facts.

but the text of that petition falls a little short. I mean, aside of the the copious grammatical errors, I thought everyone had agreed by now that the "Michigan Man" term has to go away.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||I didn't even make the comparison really...||
johnthesavage did and I just commented on it. He said he'd take Kelly over Hoke but prefers Harbaugh over both. Reader71 said he hopes that kind of thinking is in the minority amongst Michigan fans... I took that to mean that Reader71 values a coach's demeanor above their W/L record, meaning I have to assume he prefers Hoke over Harbaugh.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||I mean, I want a coach who "does it the right way"||
just as much as the next guy. But then how long do we have to sit here waiting, watching the entire world pass us by?
|2 weeks 1 day ago||You hope that people who want a winner as a HC||
are in the minority? I agree that Brian Kelly is awful (and perhaps deserves to be arrested for the crane in the wind incident) and I wouldn't want him either, but how could you possibly prefer a well-mannered coach who loses (i.e. Hoke) vs. a guy like Jim Harbaugh?
|2 weeks 3 days ago||give me a break||
The coaches are responsible for how the players play. It starts at the top.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||My impression of the scenario||
Brandon = oliphaunt
mgoblog = Theoden
spear-thrower = WD
|4 weeks 21 hours ago||Yeah this will not end well||
just like Brady Hoke's tenure at Michigan...
|4 weeks 1 day ago||Hey there. My hotdog vendor happens to be a very reliable source||
thank you very much. FWIW he said Peppers is transferring to MSU and Hoke and Brandon just got 15-year extensions.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||Wut||
Like just wut
|4 weeks 1 day ago||Oh c'mon, they won the Rose Bowl||
Oh c'mon, they won the Rose Bowl and beat Urban Meyer in the BTCG. Their success goes beyond Michigan's decline at this point.

But is his wife house shopping in Ann Arbor? That's the real giveaway.

The fact that Dantonio made that joke about the stake without even cracking a smile is about as Dantonio as it gets.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||The fact that it is still pissing them off||
The fact that it is still pissing them off seven years down the road continues to amaze me. They won the Rose Bowl and yet they are still fixated on this just as much as when it started. Stabbing a stake in the ground "is a product of their program"? No, no it's not. It's 20 year olds being silly. Was MSU planting their flag at ND back in 2004 or whatever a product of their program?
Everyone associated with the organization at the time the phrase was first uttered is gone. Dantonio is the guy who refuses to speak to his family for 40 years over something no one else even remembers.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||I nearly spit out my drink||
When I read that comment... Hoke has Meyer's number about as much as Carr had Tressels number, which is to say, not at all.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||It really amazes me how we treat these booth people like gods||
They sit up there completely invisible and make decisions in utmost secrecy (we don't even have any idea WHO actually is making these decisions) and we peons just accept it. No explanations necessary. I mean how about some freaking accountability? These guys are fools and completely incompetent. It's not brain surgery - how do you mess up an obvious call like this (or the Rutgers one) unless you're just completely incapable of being a replay official?
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Yes what a special moment for Devin||
getting steamrolled by his in-state rival.That's exactly what I was thinking too. (Not that I blame Devin entirely, he was awful but the whole football organization is just incompetent and terrible)
