|2 hours 40 min ago||I agree wholeheartedly||
posting an interview is one thing. Posting a texting "converstion" (in quotes because 1 word answers are usually not indicative of an actual conversation going on) in which it is clear the guy is just annoyed at this point, is quite another.
|3 hours 27 min ago||Sorry but I don't see the point in posting this...||
It doesn't respect the guy's privacy and it doesn't provide any new information. We already knew McDowell had gone somewhat cold on Michigan.
The only thing this does is set Brandon up to be able to say "I told you so" when McDowell commits elsewhere.
|23 hours 25 min ago||After hearing the rumors tonight...||
Winston is toast as of 2:00pm tomorrow. Duke over FSU, Auburn over Mizzou, MSU over OSU, and 'Bama wins the MNC. Book it.
|1 day 28 min ago||C'mon, Alabama could still win the MNC this year...||
Sure it's unlikely but it's definitely possible. No way this rumor is valid and Saban agreed to a contract with Texas in the first week of December.
|1 day 4 hours ago||not quite "just" a victory||
That would have been the greatest upset in 134 years of Michigan football
|1 day 6 hours ago||Would have been the greatest Michigan upset ever||
And I would take that over any bball win. Urban Meyer will never enter Michigan Stadium with a 23 game winning streak again.
|2 days 2 hours ago||this is complete||
bull. Every call to Duke. Every single one.
|2 days 12 hours ago||well you guys are an optimistic bunch||
No one is concerned that Hoke has not won a game on the road against a team that finished above .500, in THREE years?
We'll be on the road against our two Rivals who combined have one loss in 2013. MSU has eaten Borges's lunch three years straight and OSU may still be undefeated under Meyer and the reigning national champs...
Not trying to be a negative Nancy, but when your OC has had like, 10 games under 300 yards and like, 5 games without TDs... and the head coach is HAPPY with the job the guy is doing... well, what can you expect really.
My prediction is that the line still sucks, and Space Coyote will have to explain to everyone how you have to wait for that magical year when all 5 of your offensive linemen are 5* RS Seniors with three years starting experience in order to average above 3 yards/attempt. It would not shock me if we lost all of our road games, though I will probably still go to at least 3 of them.
|3 days 21 hours ago||Don't see where you're coming from||
First off I'm not saying to run it down to nothing. If we had run a huddle there at 40 seconds the play would have ended with 25 seconds left at least. This is plenty of time to run 3 more plays, especially given we still had 1 timeout left.
Now, if you're saying that we needed to leave enough time to drive the field after recovering the onside... consider that the success rate for onside kicks is ~18%. Meanwhile, the success rate for a 2-pt conversion is 45%. We'll say the time required to drive within field goal range is 25% for both teams. So in that situation, the scenario where we take the lead but leave enough time for OSU to drive into field goal range is over four times as likely (11.25%) as the scenario where we miss the 2-pt conversion, recover the onside, and then drive into field goal range ourselves (2.5%). In reality, 25% is being way too generous to our defense. C'mon, 37 seconds for 40 (their 35 to our 25) yards with Urban Meyer's offense? That's just too much time.
|4 days 3 hours ago||If you're so upset about this single play||
consider the fact that OSU still would have had 37 (!) seconds to get like, 35 yards and get into field goal range for the win. This is due to the complete and utter incompetence of our staff in spiking the ball on the five yard line with 45 seconds to go.
This scenario would have been even worse than the one that played out, and the way our defense was playing who's to say it wasn't likely to happen? Wile had already kicked the last ball out of bounds.
|4 days 7 hours ago||But Auburn actually made changes to the coaching staff||
Which is something that in all likelihood Michigan will not do. Also, they won two of their games on some of the most miraculous plays in all of college football history. That's not likely to happen for us.
|4 days 7 hours ago||C'mon, do you really believe that?||
MSU has eaten Borges's lunch the past 3 years. OSU will probably go out and get a top of the line defensive coordinator.
Weak interior O-line or no, Borges has not shown himself capable of beating competent DCs in either play-calling or game-planning. Even in 2011, when we had the best center in the country and Two redshirt junior guards, we still had games in which the offense just totally wet the bed. Why should we believe that will change next year?
|4 days 9 hours ago||Would have been Michigan's greatest upset of all time||
Just remember, you are not alone... Doing my best to try to get over it, but fate has been so cruel to Michigan for so long now...
|4 days 9 hours ago||It seriously boggles my mind that people still support him||
A careful analysis of the past 3 seasons says he should be toast. But instead, people are content on claiming one outlier performance in a game that we lost as evidence that he shouldn't be sent packing.
|4 days 9 hours ago||This came up immediately in the live blog||
and was confirmed by the OSU players in the post game press conferences... Even when he seems to be on his game Borges is perfecty capable of having a complete brain fart. And some people want to keep the guy.
|4 days 9 hours ago||the buck stops with the coaches...||
funny how for well coached teams, the players seem to always "show up." Does Alabama ever not show up? Do OSU's offense or MSU's defense ever not show up? This has been a problem not just with the current starting lineup, but over the past 3 years. The offense is practically 100% different from the offense that didn't show up against MSU in 2011 and the first 3 quarters of the Iowa game that year. And at least 50% different from the offense that couldn't score a single TD against ND, MSU, Nebraska, or in the 2nd half against OSU in 2012.
Funny how OSU is probably going to replace their DC next year, despite the fact that they're undefeated and possibly playing for an MNC. Just goes to show the attitude of the two programs right now. It's not like firing Borges would be some crazy hasty decision based on scant evidence. We have been complaining about the play-calling and game-planning for three years now.
|4 days 10 hours ago||Honestly, screw Borges||
What did this game tell us? I'll answer that. Nothing we didn't already know.
Yes, Borges is capable of pulling one out of his ass from time to time. We saw that against Nebraska in '11 and the '13 Outback Bowl. Other than that his offense has been putrid, and as a game day play caller, he is an utter joke. Unfortunately, Hoke is putting all the eggs in the Borges basket. But the Borges basket couldn't hold a kitten. Don't be surprised if the bottom falls out next year.
Honestly I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer here, but Borges's record speaks for itself. A few outlier games doesn't change the trend we've seen.
|5 days 6 hours ago||I don't understand this logic...||
but it will probably buy Borges another year. Unfortunately, that probably means another 7-6 season at best, and then what? I just can't see us every beating OSU or MSU every again with Borges running the offense.
|5 days 7 hours ago||Umm no...||
one good game for the last five? If we had won it I wouldn't have fucking given one shit. But the fact is Borges is incompetent and the fact that he can pull one out of his ass every once in a while doesn't change that.
|1 week 2 days ago||Way to over-generalize||
Who is demanding a perfect season exactly? As far as I recall, we went 11-2 in 2011, our offense was far from prolific, and yet the fans were absolutely ecstatic. We went 8-5 last year and yet there was only a minor fringe group of fans calling anyone to be fired.
The way I see it, all anyone has asked for is that the team just not get worse as the season goes along. Is that really an unreasonable expectation?
|1 week 2 days ago||Your counterargument fails...||
First off there have never been ads in Michigan stadium, so that doesn't explain why they had to double and triple the ticket prices in the last 10 years.
As for demanding a return to a pro-style offense... I've never bought that crap. RR got fired because he lost too many games. A few illiterate fans tried to rationalize this by saying the spread just can't work in the Big 10, but if this actually played a factor in DB's decision he is completely incompetent. Fact is, DB struck out on Harbaugh and was allegedly too arrogant to go after Miles... beyond that, who else was available? Were there really any proven spread coaches who would have been willing to come here?
This is exactly the problem. Michigan fans look around the country and see teams that have improved as the season has gone along. And yet that hasn't happened here. That's why everyone is pissed.
|1 week 3 days ago||These are pretty slick, actually||
I like 'em
|1 week 3 days ago||Like, that one time we won against Tressel?||
2011 was nice too but in retrospect feels cheap. We really should have crushed them, and yet if Miller hadn't overthrown Posey on that last drive... oh man I don't know what I would have done...
|1 week 3 days ago||Will be there in the student section||
an hour early like always... only nice thing about the current state of affairs is that I won't actually have to wait to get good seats.

Between the Iowa game, this, and Michigan losing to Charlotte yesterday... he didn't have a very good weekend to say the least...

|1 week 4 days ago||Hoke will not be fired after this year...||
but what do you do after 2014? You keep bringing up the fact that Dantonio went 6-7 in year 3. Now aside from the fact that this proves nothing (Nick Saban won the National Championship in his third year, as did Lloyd Carr...), Dantonio also went 11-2 in his fourth year, won the legends division, and nearly made it to the Rose Bowl. Is that what you're predicting for Hoke next year?
Back-to-back 7-6 seasons and 0-4 against MSU/OSU is highly likely, and if that happens, Hoke is toast whether he deserves it or not. A win against OSU this year or a win against MSU/OSU in 2014 could buy him 2015, but how likely is that?
Maybe by the end of 2014 Harbaugh will have won the Super Bowl and will be tired of the NFL. Yup that's the best I've got at this point.
|1 week 4 days ago||Are you freaking kidding me?||
The buck stops with the coaches. Period. It's pretty telling that Gardner was a far better QB after practicing as a WR for 2/3 the last season last year.
|1 week 5 days ago||I mean, I'm always excited for the Game...||
that will never change. But OSU has one of the best offenses in the country. If we want to beat them, we're going to generate some of our own offense. After watching the past 4 games, do you really think there's more than a 1% chance that our offense can score enough points to win?
Am I really going out on a limb here saying we will probably lose this game by double digits? I doubt it. I guarantee Brian's prediction will have us losing by 20+ ...
