Sound of Silence - Disturbed

He was cooking. And…

He was cooking. And according to the broadcasters, the official time might be even faster.

That resentment thing in…

That resentment thing in Chicagoland area is real. My sophomore year of high school we played Providence in the playoffs, and ended up winning the game. Nobody thought we’d have a shot. I don’t know if it’s still considered a huge deal when a public school beats one of the Catholic schools, but at that time it was. Then our rival taking down JCA my senior year was considered a huge sea as well. They’ve totally redeemed themselves in my book!

1) So far, I love taking the family to North Myrtle Beach (Specifically Cherry Grove Beach). We always drive down through Kentucky and Tennessee and stay a couple days in Gatlinburg to see the National Park. The whole trip is relaxing and the kids absolutely love it. I’ve never been out west, so we’re planning our next trip to be Oregon Trail themed.
2) Gotta have some Coors Light (Or even Banquet) on hand.

I go out that way for vacation every year. East Tennessee is absolutely beautiful. You wouldn’t be too far from Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, so you wouldn’t be short on things to do. If I had the chance I’d move out there in a heartbeat. I’m from Illinois though, so everywhere else seems great!

Big Trouble in Little China…

Big Trouble in Little China is an all timer. I would add Tango and Cash. Uncle Buck was great too.

The monkey is her uncle. Or…

The monkey is her uncle. Or something like that.

I used to catch a few…

I used to catch a few episodes of Walker when I’d stay home from school as a kid. Between that, the Paul Rudd 25-year “Mac and Me” bit, when he’d make fun of La Bamba (Then they’d cut to him), and when he took his green Ford Taurus to a car show in New York and told people his stick shift was called “The Cone Bone”, I was hooked. I’m going to end up down a rabbit hole of old clips at some point in the near future.

I started watching Conan…

I started watching Conan when I was around 16 (2003), and have done so religiously ever since. His bits, especially the remotes and what he does with his staff on camera, were outstanding. I am very sad to see him go. If you haven’t checked out his podcast, it’s well worth a listen. He’s had some great guests, and the ones with Dana Carvey in particular were great. Looks like I’m going to be re-subscribing to HBO at some point….

I've enjoyed reading the …

I've enjoyed reading the "Cotton Malone" series by Steve Berry. They're more of an international exploits and government agent than crime novels (Although there are plenty of crimes committed). Still find them entertaining, and there are about 13-14 books in the series. I believe he still writing this series, so more to come as well. Hw ties a lot of historical events and beliefs into the stories as well, along the lines of Dan Brown books.

As a Cubs fan I was absolutely ecstatic with this pick. It’s been a long time since we had a Michigan guy in the Cubs system. Last I remember was Clayton Richard and, well before that, Rich Hill.

I’ll still be working. I’m a teacher at a prison in Illinois. IDOC still requires teachers to be at work to provide “Alternative Educational Opportunities”. Wife and kids are all home though, and spend most of the time baking, playing with toys, board games, and, for my school ager, doing her homework on the computer each morning. Other than that watching everything on Netflix and Amazon.

The Keepers was excellent. I…

The Keepers was excellent. I watched that a while back. It’s about a catholic school in Baltimore(?) and some shitty things being done to the girls there, and the nun who tried to do something about it.

It's certainly the most sad…

It's certainly the most sad in my lifetime. It's sad enough he died this way, being my favorite basketball player ever, but it's even worse knowing his daughter as well as another parent and child were there. For many kids my age (Too young to really remember MJ, as he retired when I was 10), Kobe was the man. I can't even count how many times I shot around in the gym as a kid/teenager and pretended to be Kobe shooting baseline fadeaways over and over. This one hurts.

You’re damn right it is.

You’re damn right it is.

For me it’s Haskins and…

For me it’s Haskins and Charbonnet becoming a really good 1-2 punch in the backfield. They’ve gotten better and better each week, and seem to be gelling with the offensive line more as the year has progressed. Seeing them continue to build on that for another season or two is exciting to think about. McGrone has been as advertised, if not even better. The defensive line has been much better than many of us thought.

Is this an incognito drinking thread?

I was in 8th grade Math…

I was in 8th grade Math class when the 2nd plane hit. Before it happened, without any sort of warning, our teacher went to the front of the class and began talking about the day JFK was shot. He said he has always remembered exactly where he was and most details from that day. He then told the kids in our class that we would also remember where you were and what you were doing. He was right. It still feels fresh, like it happened yesterday. The wound will never heal, and we need to make sure we never forget the pain, terror, the west of the human race, and the very best of us. Also, Never forget how the whole country rallied together in the days and weeks following that day.

Charbonnet is going to be…

Charbonnet is going to be outstanding. Watching his film from HS made it clear he was a 5 Star talent. He just seems like the kind of player who has all-timer in his future, at least in terms of M RBs. I hope he starts early, he's right with Dax as players I'm most excited for.

Thanks OP! Wife and I both…

Thanks OP! Wife and I both took the money. We get credit monitoring through a couple of our credit card companies. So it was an easy call.

I remember seeing trailers…

I remember seeing trailers for it before it started. Got immediately excited. I've always been interested in what happened there, but wasn't born until a year after. I think they've done an incredible job covering all of the different angles involved in it.

I grew up by Joliet in…

I grew up by Joliet in Minooka. I now live by Morris, far SW suburbs. It's not so bad out here, but it just feels like any time I go up 55 or 80 I'm risking my life. I spent a few years living by Dixon, and being just a couple hours west was a huge difference. I moved back because I was driving to St. Charles for work.

Chicagoland area in Illinois…

Chicagoland area in Illinois. The one pro is that no store you need is far away. The cons are the people suck, drivers are horrible, the roads are always under construction, and the cost of living is enormous. The only reasons I live here are my wife and I grew up here, and our families live here. If we could find decent jobs out of state, we would move in an instant. Preferably south or in the Northeast.

I had a feeling it wouldn’t…

I had a feeling it wouldn’t be. I tried checking BTN for a week following the Spring Game, and nothing. I hope there is some way to see it. That really sucks.

I didn’t want to start a…

I didn’t want to start a thread for this since it’s a simple answer. I can’t find any broadcast information on the spring game his year. Is it being shown on BTN? I searched the TV guide  and didn’t see anything. Tried google, but that was no help. I don’t remember if this was already discussed.

I'd be up for it. I can do…

I'd be up for it. I can do weekly or daily.

When they play pass heavy…

When they play pass heavy offenses that have NFL talent (OSU), yes. When they play heavy run teams (OSU last year) or teams that they have a clear athletic advantage over, no. Really good passing offenses are going to find ways to get their QB time to exploit man defense with no safety help.

Hard time putting these in order, but my top 5 anyway (Going to keep away from cartoons, which is hard to):

Seinfeld

How I Met Your Mother

The West Wing

Stranger Things

Home Improvement

Family Guy (Sorry, didn't make it far without a cartoon)

Boy Meets World

If True

if he does go there, that's a huge get for DePaul. Being from the Chicagoland are, I remember the days of Quentin Richardson and how much fun it is to have good players/teams at the city colleges. The run by Loyola was a big deal around the city, but DePaul getting really god players and being tournament-caliber again would be even bigger.

Two things 1. Getting good looks from 3, just need to hit a few of them in the 2nd half
2. Double DiVincenzo when he has the ball and force someone other than him or Brunson to beat you. Theyre solely responsible for Novas lead right now.

This^^^

This was my intital reaction as well. I actually find myself saying this alot in other aspects of life and picture this when I do.

Yep

This about sums it up. The DL next year would have been scary even if he went pro. It is going to be dominant next season. Hopefully all the young guys in the secondary this season make the jump next year and take advantage of what is sure to be many hurried throws.

Just look South That’s the absolute key to Ohio States offense. Meyer would rather have a QB who can run and can’t throw the ball 10 yards (Tebow) than someone with a cannon but is a statue. As long as you have the weapons on the field to take cross routes and screens for big gains, a mobile QB alone can suffice. Example A: JT Barrett. I think any permanent wrinkle/creative strategic change can only benefit this team.
Offensive Change I’m excited to see them add the pistol with more run option. When his offense was at its peak (San Fran) it was with the run option mixed in. It’s sorely been missed in this offense, as we’ve seen a lack of dual threats at QB. If Shea is eligible and they use him this way, this offense could get really good and really fun to watch.
Night Before Christmas

Die Hard style. I can't get a picture attached, but it's great.

Thank you

Thank you for this.

I feel for you. My wife and I had two healthy baby girls, followed to miscarriages in a single year. It’s heartbreaking and feels empty. She is pregnant again and we haven’t even begun to get excited yet. I’m so sorry you had to go through this, as no living being should. Best thing I can say is be there for your wife, because she needs you now more than ever.
... You find that man! He’s trying to sell you provasic!
I'm glad too But also glad I wasn't the only one who thought to point this out!
O'Korn If it were me, and let's all thank our lucky stars that's not the case, I go with O'Korn. I really do think Speight is better than he's shown, but with the struggles this line has it is a huge help to have a guy with O'Korn's mobility. Speight is sneaky, like Ben Roethlisberger, but is a statue too often. The only thing that scares me about O'Korn is that those needle throws aren't getting through defenses with high end talent like they did against Purdue.
