Considering some of the…

Considering some of the comments in previous threads I would have thought most readers would have agreed with Cade’s Cyan Circle. Personally, I don’t think he deserves the cyan, but I DO think he is slowing the offense down. In my humble opinion if he would keep on the obvious read two maybe three times against Rutgers that game isn’t as close.  If he keeps it a couple times against Wisky they have to come out of the “sell out” D they were running and that game is over sooner rather than later.

If he pulled twice per game none of us would be considering JJ because the Offense would be humming..

As it is Cade is better than average in the BIG at this point:

Cade> Thorn

Cade> Rutgers QB

Cade = Clifford

Cade = Stroud Although Stroud is a better runner

Cade > Penix/ Penix’ back up

Cade = Talia Tag (Maryland) too many turnovers

Cade > Mertz

Cade > Purdue QB's

Cade > Iowa’s QB

Cade > Northwestern’s QBs

Cade > Minnesota’s QBs

Cade = Martinez- only because no turnovers and Martinez’ inconsistencies. Martinez would be deadly in UM’s offense!!

I know I’m missing a couple team’s QB’s but my point is even with Cade’s flaws I don’t see any other BIG QB’s I would readily pick to replace him.

Maybe we see him keep a couple times, get a couple first downs and sliding to avoid any unnecessary shots.

Agree with this take. This…

Agree with this take. This probably wouldn’t even be a debate if Cade would keep it on the read option once maybe twice a game. This is my only real knock on Cade. Second half Rutgers and Wisconsin dared him to keep it and he wouldn’t.

To me the major issue with…

To me the major issue with UM and the read option isn’t the fact that the QB’s don’t keep it. It’s more so they don’t actually read it and play out the fake. When running that play, even when it’s a called hand off the QB HAS to read the option player and play out the fake. Shea, Milton and Cade are all guilty of a falling into this “Half Assing” the play and  when the option is actually called their mind is not ready.

This is my grip with basic QB development.

I’m all for a 12 team…

I’m all for a 12 team playoff that promotes the following:

1. Conference Champion is an automatic qualifier. This includes the Big 12

2. The first round of the playoffs are at on campus stadiums

3. The highest ranked Group of 5 conference champion qualifies

4. Allow teams that don’t qualify for the playoffs or bowl game for that matter hold 15 “winter practices”.

This leaves 6 spots for six at- large bids. These at large bids should considered based on criteria like strength of schedule at seasons end, was the team a division champ, AP Poll, Coaches Poll, SP (whatever that is), etc.

This would hopefully generate better non conference games, SEC would play more conference games and it would still allow for the Rose Bowl, Orange, Sugar  and Fiesta Bowls to be relevant. It would generate all kinds of energy on campus in December.

The Big 12 should consider…

The Big 12 should consider adding:

Memphis ( #51 TV Market and Good Basketball)

Cincinnati the #36 TV market, competitive in both basketball and football

Houston the #8 TV market, competitive in basketball and can has the recruiting base to be good in football

One or both of South Florida and Central Florida, which nets them either the #13 or #18 TV market.

Maybe take both Florida Schools, Houston and Cincinnati. This gets them back to 12 schools and four additional large TV markets with competitive football teams.

Forget any other team in the…

Forget any other team in the Big-12. Go BIG, One of USC/UCLA or USC/Arizona St. One of these combos give the BIG the LA television market. The ASU combo gives the Phoenix market.

So, any one care to “guess”…

So, any one care to “guess” why those kids were afraid for their lives, instead of making excuses about why the cops pulled them over, herd them for more more than 30 minutes and then diminish their fear because it happened to “me”?

I believe both DGW and Roman…

I believe both DGW and Roman Wilson’s 40 times were run at an Opening combine in Longreach, California in February 2019. If this is the case I can tell you it was rainy and dreary that day. Most of the kids 40’s and 20 yard shuttle times were slower than normal. That is why Roman Wilson’s time is even more impressive than the listed 4.39.

My guess is DGW’s average 40 is in the mid 4.5 range.

If you lose the bet send him…

If you lose the bet send him a shredded $100.00 bill…..or 10,000 pennies (although funny, it might not be funny enough to justify the expense).

A few thoughts on playing…

A few thoughts on playing Bama:

  • take some shots down field when in one on one coverage. Let’s take advantage to uber athletic wideouts
  • get one on one match ups with UM’s RB’s vs their LB's
  • get them in the championship game when they only have a week to prepare vs having  a month to prepare.
Question for Seth and other …

Question for Seth and other “offensive” minds, why is the Zone Read typically run with a inside zone blocking scheme?

Seems to me there would be more stress placed on the read defender if his teammates are all reading and eventually reading for an outside run, which would create more space for the QB to operate against read defender..

Congratulations to all of…

Congratulations to all of you that’s found a “diet” that works for YOU.

There is some very good advice in this thread. I’d like to add my .02. Don’t think of your new way of eating as a “diet”. it should be considered a life style. Diets and dieting are temporary. When you diet for an upcoming event (wedding, vacation, bodybuilding show), it’s temporary. When you stop dieting and resume your normal lifestyle you WILL regain the lost weight. This is true for any type of diet/eating regimen.

Successful eating lifestyles vary person to person. I struggle with carbs and do very well with fat. One of the reasons is when I eat bacon and eggs I feel satiated. Cutting out fat for me cuts out the best part of meals (my opinion).

I would suggest trying the keto lifestyle but incorporate cheat meals. I have a cheat day every other Sunday.

Good luck.

Logged in just to offer my .02. Not one bit of bad advice given in the responses (Well, maybe the poster that suggested commuting from Boulder LOL).

One poster mentioned Centennial/Littleton. I leave on the far east end of Centennial and really like the area. Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock and Parker are nice as well. I will say, when Denver metro went through the last housing “crisis” Highlands Ranch was one of the areas south that wasn’t hit as hard and recovered really fast.

Good luck.

Exciting

That post was a much needed "football" update.

Green Expectations

I know Green is rated pretty high and rightfully so....but, he's never strapped on a helmet and played let alone practiced against college football players. We have a known quantitiy in Fitz. Yeah, he had a down year, but the year before he was pretty good and we ALL thought this past year was going to be a break out year for him. I'm saying don't be so quick to right off the RB's we already have on the roster before a new comer even steps on the field.

What are we all going to say IF Fitz holds Green and say Drake Johnson, Rawls or Hayes is the 2nd back in? Green is a Bust?

Other Options

With a Nickel able to play every down you're not relegated to playing the best four/five DB's. You will also be able to move a LB or DL out. The best 11 may be 3 DL, 3 LB's and 5 DB's or 4 DL, 2LB's and 5 DB's.

He’d be….

A WOLVERINE!!!

Gelen Robinson

I like Gelen too, but I like him more as a SAM rather than a WDE.

Your Website

Judging by your website you are a hard man to please!! LOL.

BTW, do you have a write up telling us why you like him? Never mind. Should have read on.

Your Son

After watching the video, would you want your son to play for him?

Falcon, CO

Falcon is a northern suburb of Coloraso Springs. They play in 4A, the 2nd highest classification in Colorado. It's a relatively new community and school. I've been in Colorado for 21 years and lived in Colorado Springs for a couple years when Falcon was still a praire.

SDE vs WDE

SDE has to be a stud against the run as he may deal with more double teams at the point of attack. WDE, not so much.

Here is decent article that explains it...kinda of:

http://www.battleredblog.com/2009/7/23/958892/a-very-brief-introduction…

Weight

He looks to have gained a little weight over the course of the last six months. He looked really skinny during the summer's 7 on 7 tourneys.

1996

1996 Michigan lost 3 regular sesaon games and bowl game.....1997......

Hoke’s Commitment Policy

If my son or daughter is blessed to be recruited at this level as a father I would welcome Hoke's policy.

Did yall read/hear about the kid from Texas that was commited to Oklahoma? The kid can't play football anymore.....OU decides to pull his scholly offer.  Now before yall flame me about not being able to fulfill his end of the bargain answer this question, if the kid was commited to UM do you think Hoke pulls the offer given the same set of circumstances?

WILL and MLB Reads

Looks like Ross is taking the correct the steps based off of the Guard in front of him and RB action his way. When the game "slows" down for him i.e. more experience, he won't flow so hard with the action he is seeing causing him to be out of position.

Bolden makes the correct read as well. Ideally he needs to meet the pulling TACKLE before he has a chance to square his shoulders to the line of scrimmage. When he can't meet the lineman before he squares up Bolden should have taken on the block on the outside shoulder forcing the RB inside to where the help (Ross) should be.

The good behind this is: the LB's are reading and reacting to their reads and the mistakes that are made on this play are easily corrected.

i tweeted something very similar to this earlier- #Brockmealer= BOSS

Would love to see his name trending.

Deveon Smith

Don't forget about one Mr. Smith. He was some great tools to work with and if five of the nine O-Linemen over the last to cycles work out you or I (well maybe you) might be able to gain 1,000 yards.

Inspired Play

One thing Rabbit didn't mention and that is how incredibly inspired the Cadets play. It doesn't matter if they are down by 30 or up by 30, they play hard every play. What they give up in size and athletic ability they make up in playing their "roles" and knowing their responsibilities.

Having played them I can tell you I feel safe knowing our country is in good hands.

Thanks for servings guys.

Nice job Ace….

More good news may be coming...per Twitter. Oh my!!

Edit: I type slooooow.

TCU

The way things are looking for the Big East right now, i would not be surprised if TCU becomes available.

They would bring a huge TV market with a lot of UM fans in the area. Don't know how they stack up AAU-CIC wise, though. Plus the Big Ten gets a good Texas school with out the Texas politics.

Hash-Zone Drops

Looks like Herron may have been anticipating a different route by the reciever or he may have been going to a different (incorrect) zone and realized during the play his angle was wrong.

It is encouraging to see "in" game improvements.

One other point, this particular play looks like UM is playing man coverage with inside help from Herron to the wide side and RVB on the short side. Carder makes the only right choice. From the start he reads where the pressure is coming from and gets it to the only open receiver.

I do think Herron is at fault...some, but most of the credit should go to a good QB making a good read and throw.

Pass Coverage

Erik, on the plays where UM blitzed,  did you notice if the DB's were pressing or playing "off" their guys in coverage?

Also, on the plays we did not blitz were our guys (DB's) playing closer to the line of scrimmage? Sorry for the mundane questions. I didn't see the game.

My Boss

I've been laughing so hard the last couple of weeks with the MGo Community my Boss just asked to see what I was looking at on the net!

Sorry, carry on.

Yes! to this^^

Amen.

Relationships!

CBeeks, I agree with this and your previous post in this thread RE: the importance of strong relationships within the High School coaching ranks.

Yummy

CoolBlue, you might just have he best avatar...ever!

LMBAO

Purple Stuff you just saved me 20 minutes in the gym. I've been laughing so hard my abs hurt!!!

Ughh

That Avatar is......scary.

Holiday Bowl Stats

Staggering and he didn't even play the whole game in the Holiday Bowl!! I think he was pulled after the 3rd quarter.

Yes!!

Yeah Guys just made my evening!! In Phoenix on business and my hotel doesn't have the Big Ten Network. Upperdeck...here I come. Thanks a bunch.

Couple questions for those

Couple questions for those that want RR and GERG out:

1. If RR was hired for the University of Minnesota job after he was fired from U of M would you be worried?

2. After hearing all the rumors of RR's "medling" with the defensive schemes, not letting his DC's run the defense they are comfortable with and having a clear lack of talent how can we possibly blame the defensive fiasco on Greg Robinson?

My answer to #1- I would be extremely anxious if RR went to any school in the Big Ten.

Answer to #2- I don't think Greg Robinson is THE reason the Defense is bad; however, i'm not sold he is the answer either. He has way too much to overcome, lack of talent/depth and inability to run HIS defensive scheme to be judged fairly.....in my opinion.

Call me an apologist, but I really think RR needs another year to truly see if the program is moving in the right direction.

QB/LB isn't your typical HS

QB/LB isn't your typical HS postion combination. The fact that he plays both means to me at least that he has a higher than average football IQ.

After watching the video (I watched the one posted by Bossman on Youtube), I am convinced of three things:

1. he does have a good football IQ

 2. he has the instincts needed to play LB in college (He plays down hill and he attacks the would be block and he stays behind the ball carrier as he is flowing)

 3. the guy has decent footwork for a HS linebacker.

I like the offer.

9-3!

If we go 9-3 I would be happier than a fat kid locked in a cake factory.

Actually, Purdue and Illinois

Actually, Purdue and Illinois are the teams I am most worried about because their offensive philosophy is to spread you out and make you play in space. That kind of O will really exploit our young D.

The rest of the teams are going to come right at you, which gives us a better chance.

We will play better!!

An all out passing attack is tough to defend against.  The rest of our schedule we will see I-formations. The schemes will be much more simple.

Gerg will have the D ready.

Cheesy

I know it's cheesy but you can use a disposable rain coat. Let the neg bang being. {~;

Pocket Protector

Now all he needs is a Pocket Protector along with a pen and a mechanical pencil and the look will be complete. LOL!!

ILB Keys

Agree 100% with that last arrow!
