I can’t help but think of…

I can’t help but think of Izzo’s jeering at Harbaughs expense during the football season with a “how’s Harbaugh these days?” kinda comment when the sign stuff was raging.

Well Tom, Harbaugh is a defending national championship coach and you just steered your preseason top-5 team into a ditch in the weakest Big 10 during your tenure. You will soon be joining the rest of us sitting on our couches by next Monday.

“Not sure it actually…

“Not sure it actually happened” is still where I find myself. I bought *way* too many shirts after the game and still get confused when I see myself in the mirror.

It’s always the same reaction. I’m thinking about work or taxes or something dumb and then I see a backwards-written “National Champions” and I’m pleasantly jolted out of my thought process.

I couldn’t help but read…

I couldn’t help but read this post with the same tone Will Wade had in his after-UL-Lafayette-NIT interview. It was truly a perfect pairing, and I’m legitimately less interested in Smart now.

Obligatory “wish I had more…

Obligatory “wish I had more than one upvote to give.”

Your comment made me chortle hard enough to hurt my ribcage. Yes, I’m calling my doctor right now to have him assess why.

This is a fun thread because…

This is a fun thread because everyone is making excellent points.

The TD to Roman Wilson against OSU, and his interview after explaining the tendencies he observed in film study for that safety, is JJ in a nutshell, IMO.  I mean, I love the dude, so I (we) are biased.  But, I would genuinely be surprised if he had a less-than-good pro career barring injuries.

/Insert Crying Owens "that's my quarterback" gif.

Totally this.

Prep is…

Totally this.

Prep is horrible, but it's an evil we've all experienced in having diarrhea.  Not a big deal.

The medication they give to knock you out is overtly awesome.  As you said, best nap ever and you feel totally refreshed after.  I've had a few, and it's easier than the dentist.  Stay safe and enjoy the best rest you've ever had.

Over the past 15-20 years,…

Over the past 15-20 years, it’s become increasingly clear to me that almost no human should have their name placed on a building/field/etc.

A few exceptions would be MLK, Rosa Parks, Jonas Salk and the dude/dudette that came up with Blistex.

Not enough upvotes to give…

Not enough upvotes to give for this.  Well played, sir.

Nugent's response was…

Nugent's response was absolutely perfect.  I will never use that gif for another purpose again.

That was fantastic.  A++.

That was fantastic.  A++.

The only thing I would have liked added were the interviews where all those assholes had to eat crow after Michigan kept winning.  Like when Finebaum said he'd never been more wrong about anything in his life, etc.  Maybe that's the next video?  Just a loop of those POS trying to downplay what they had previously said.

Nice try, Coach Miles. You…

Nice try, Coach Miles. You still can’t have this job.

Either game-day coaching…

Either game-day coaching really matters (and it does), and Moore *aced* 2 of the toughest challenges all season across the nation, or culture/infrastructure matters (also does), and Moore was selected and groomed by the guy who built this construct.

Agree with you 100% but I…

Agree with you 100% but I guarantee there will be influential people who do the wrong thing because people are really stupid.

I want Moore to be the head coach, but unless the next guy is a bonafide criminal/shitty person, I will push every positive narrative I can at all times.  I mean, as fans we can't do much.  But when a "die hard," which is everyone who comes to a board like this, tells randos that Michigan hired the wrong dude, we become part of the negative/destructive narrative.

To borrow a phrase from Don…

To borrow a phrase from Don Brown, I think you are an absolute fucking dude for posting this here. Thanks so much for sharing your story and insight. 👊

Wow. That means his very…

Wow. That means his very last time on a CFB playing field was watching Michigan celebrate around him.
I’m in.

That was awesome to see. …

That was awesome to see.  Total props to the person who shot that.  I record my kid's violin performances but have learned that you have to sacrifice a small bit of enjoying the moment to preserve it.  I have chills.

I love the movie V for…

I love the movie V for Vendetta.  The message in it is powerful and timeless.

I often think of the incarceration scene Natalie Portman finds herself in.  As fans, we are all in cells of our own creation.  We all suffer, to some extent, because of how much we care about something we have zero control over.  Zero.
As she's passing notes back-and-forth with (whom she thinks is) a fellow inmate, she reads their words and says something to the effect of "I don't know you, but I love you."

I think of that a lot when I read this site.  Like, I will never know any of you.  But, there's a part of all of you I love.  BMac, I love you, man.  This column has been a staple for me since undergrad, and again on this site.  Your writing has stirred many feelings, laughs, and then farts because of the laughs.  I hope your transition in your new job is going well and know you have brought many of us fans excellent feelz along the way.

No question, XM.

I'm…

No question, XM.

I'm playing the "duality of man" card on this one.  I am enjoying all the shade and anger that the weak have right now.  But, gun to my head, I'm even more sated by all the love for this team and comradery we have as a fan base.  At 11, if I see two dudes in their team's favorite hoody, I'll ignore the MSU/OSU guy and give the Michigan fan a big hug.

Today I am the bad guy from…

Today I am the bad guy from Ghostbusters 2.  He fed on the negativity New York.  I am tapped into the energy of all the haters stewing in their own liver-eating-die-mad anger about Michigan being here.

I want each and every one of those fuckers to understand I am being sustained and invigorated by their fear and bad energy.  This evening, their worst nightmare comes true.  Tomorrow, they will be unable to open social media because of all the Harbaugh smiles and uses of "Bet."

Agree on all points. Playing…

Agree on all points. Playing an explosive passing game gives the “death from above” type feels. Conversely though, if that isn’t working, UW is in some serious trouble.
I don’t think Washington is a “one trick” team by any means (as some here have intoned). But, I think they do need their main thing to go really well. I like our coaches chances of disrupting any asymmetric scheme.

Agree.
My fan glass-half…

Agree.
My fan glass-half-full is that for JJ to really shoot up boards, he has to ball out on Monday. If he does, a Michigan victory seems . . . (Knocks on wood)

I noticed it last night and…

I noticed it last night and it’s felt pervasive since the “scandal” broke.
It’s never crazy in the sense of, like, 3-4 extra yards. But it has felt undeniably consistent.
Im not a conspiracy theorist in that I think this has been orchestrated in any way, I think Michigan is just getting the Villain treatment.

Be careful who you make the villain.

It is now available.  My…

It is now available.  My enormous head needs a flex-fit hat, so I'm out.  It does look really nice, though.

That’s a really good insight…

That’s a really good insight. If I’m stressed and they cut to Minter, I see the processor function being expressed on his face and I’m like “we’re good.”

Pretty much every single…

Pretty much every single professional has to answer for their mistakes . . . except refs. It’s infuriating.
I’d even be fine if they gave a “yep, messed that one up.”

I honestly think refs should had very public PFF-type ratings. Put them up on the TV underneath them when they are on screen. If MSU QBs can deal with their stat lines being made public, 60 year old men can handle it too.

I bought his card for $0.10…

I bought his card for $0.10.  It was a gag gift for my friends dad who said Fennis was his favorite player.

I used to be a member of a…

I used to be a member of a pay site until the year Michigan started off against Alabama at Jerry World.
The insider information from Tom Beaver was “I spoke with some of the Old Guard and they think if Michigan beats Bama, they could run the table.”

If then top-10 Michigan beats the defending national champ at a neutral venue, they could run the table. . .
I mean, I paid for that information. Instantly cancelled my membership, this site is superior in every single way except I guess getting recruit commitment info like 90 seconds later🤷‍♂️

I don't understand why guys…

I don't understand why guys announce so early when they are going to opt out.  I would never expect MHJ to play this game.  But if I were him, I'd let Mizzou set a bunch of time on fire prepping for me.

I hear what you are saying…

I hear what you are saying on one hand, but personally I wouldn’t call DeBoer a “superior” candidate. I’m not a “Michigan Man is gonna coach Michigan” guy, but with Moore, you know exactly who he is as a dude if you’re Michigan.  I’m not talking coaching, I’m talking who is he from Sunday - Friday.

Also, I think Moore has 2 of the 3 best wins this season as a HC with @PSU (given all the off-the-field rubbish) and vs OSU. Granted, UW’s second win vs Oregon rounds out the “top 3 coaching wins” this season, IMO. That was also an elite win.

I have a front row seat for this at my job.
Every single thing a cancer patient (and their family) experiences gets forcibly frenched-pressed through a fragile membrane of expiring mortality.  Pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, cytopenias, the list never really stops.

Every choice they make feels wrong.  Defer on chemotherapy, and you are eschewing additional life.  Accept chemotherapy and you are consenting to profound, sometimes toxic levels, of physical insult.

I'm not saying any of this to you in a snarky way, promise.  I've just seen these struggles too much.  Treatment or not, it's always a battle.  And it never seems fair, either.

Edit: PSA- chemotherapy and immunotherapy have evolved exponentially over the past several decades.  If it was me or my wife, I would consent to virtually everything that is available right now.  Having cancer is awful, and the toll it takes is real.  However, after I posted, I didn't want any other Mgousers to have more fear than necessary if they are staring down the business end of this treatment.  It's a battle, but the team you work with will have an opportunity to help out with anything that goes wrong.  Science is real and it is always on your side.

My cousin and wife went to…

My cousin and wife went to MSU.
She’s a really good person.

I work in oncology and we…

I work in oncology and we have a thing called "tumor board."  It's where the room is filled with about 12-15 doctors from all different branches of possible oncologic care - med onc, rad onc, surgery, etc.  A pt gets presented and everyone provides their opinion.

I've never been to one of those where everyone agreed on all aspects of the case.  Now, this is a room filled with doctors that I would trust my family with.  As to your point about the gray area, I don't think non-medical folks understand how pervasive that is.  And that's not a slam on non-medical people, because if it's science, it is hard to wrap your brain around that idea from the outside.

It's great from both…

It's great from both perspectives, really.  Stokes staying is cool, the program interested in giving the young man a chance to stay for the opportunity is cool.  I can't fathom having anything negative to say about this.

Oh come on, man.
“TCU”…

Oh come on, man.
“TCU” looks almost identical to “Iowa” when you look at the words on a screen.

Sponsors could play the players to compete in the game per NIL rules.  Perfect transition to the NFL.  Win your regular season games, and get a bonus.

The funny thing is that corporate can be so short-sided, they may actually start doing this to make revenue on just the bowls not realizing that the players can just start moving the goalposts.

Based on its history for…

Based on its history for fighting people and being the villain, he probably said “Big House tunnel.”

This is the most Mgoblog…

This is the most Mgoblog thing ever and I fucking love it. I was expecting a snowflake thread about how we should boo that piece of shit.
The fact that you just want your voice there as a part of the collective vote of “no confidence” warms my Grinch heart.

Omg, I thought the exact…

Omg, I thought the exact same thing. I expected a punt with a crushing block. That was just punts, Ferentz walking like a man on his way to the dentist and the punter getting animated lightning effects to prove he is their danger man.

Hahahaha, yes!  I think we…

Hahahaha, yes!  I think we're going to Cottage Inn on Saturday, I'll look out for you (inserts gif of JJ making the binocular gesture at Penn State)

That's an awesome proposal story.  Your sports-brain absolutely helped you out there.  Perfect plan, but you had to make an audible based on what the defense (weather) was giving you.  Proposing in front of the Louvre is like Michigan running play-action on first down - always the correct call.

I'm so happy this thread got…

I'm so happy this thread got started.  I was thinking of the Mgoblog crew earlier today and feel like the contributors on this site had a legendary season from a writing, coverage and content creation standpoint.

Seth, my man, I promise I'm not a weirdo.  But if I ever see you in public, I will probably hug you (but if you back away, I will *totally* respect your space and will abort the embrace).
You are a total dude, thanks for all that you do.

If I see any of the Mgo team at a restaurant, I will be paying their bill in the least creepy way possible.  If I'm out in public, that will mean I'll be with my wife and teenage daughter, so they'll prevent me from making things too weird.

Excellent list, well done.  David Boston as a captain makes me really happy.  Like, that's absolutely perfect.

On defense, I would have picked a Bosa, but I'm not arguing.  There are no wrong answers here.
I think Seth had the joke a few years ago where under the picture of a Bosa it said something like "this is what it would look like if every single OSU fan was combined."

Agree completely, and it's…

Agree completely, and it's been for the last 5 weeks.  I have honestly never questioned the fibers of reality (Matrix, multiverse) as much as now.
I'm 46 and am totally getting vibes of the Twilight Zone reboot from the 80s.

Damn, man. You totally…

Damn, man. You totally nailed it with that one.  That’s it. That is exactly what these programs are right now.

I did leg day the morning of…

I did leg day the morning of 2021 game, I hate leg day more than anything and always skip it.  After, I made the joke that it's good luck if I did it only before we played OSU in football.  My kid reminded me last year, I vocalized thanks and performed my duties.

(Sighs at considering how difficult it will be to get off the commode on 11/26/23)

That's an interesting point…

That's an interesting point.  His name is in the top 2 of "lol, no fucking chance" for all coach's searches over the past 20 years (other being Gruden), but this would be the one situation where it actually seems plausible.  UMx, I think you are the first internetter to ever reasonably connect Bob Stoops to a potential job opening.  (Tips cap)

That is the image of a man I would take a bullet for.

I'm having a hard time…

I'm having a hard time loving this university right now.  I guess for me it will all come down to who had the final say.
If it was Harbaugh - bet.
If it was anyone fucking else at Michigan who massaged this into happening, I'm never gonna get over this.

And, I'm totally prepared to never know the answer.  IF (highly unlikely) Michigan does this and the entire plan was to unleash "the binder," therefore absolutely destroying the BIG, then I'm obviously in.
