I'm a bit of a military history geek and so like a good war movie now and then. Lot's of great movies have already been mentioned. Here's 4 good ones I don't think anyone has mentioned yet. My apologies if I missed you.

I'm also greatly looking forward to the new Tom Hanks movie coming out this summer "Greyhound" here's a link to the trailer if you haven't seen it:
My personal favorites are Saving Private Ryan, Bridge Over the River Kwai, Gettysburg (first half is great - second half way too long you know what happens you can skip it), Patton and The Longest Day.
As for this weekend I think I'm going with The Longest Day. Haven't watched it in a long, long time.
OP also forgot to mention the rule allowing any one of the players on defense to carry a folding metal chair. The player with the chair is exempt from being called for any personal fowl. It will be interesting to see if the defenses can mess with the QB's pre-snap reads by passing the chair around.
You could have just called it a mountain lion or puma and we wouldn't have had to suffer through these endless cougar jokes.
But seriously, not impressed by U.P. There have been 2 in Chicago in the last 20 years. One was eventually shot and killed by police in an alley on the North Side, the other apparently wondered off somewhere else. They might have been escaped exotic pets, but theory was they migrated down the lakeshore from points north looking for territory.
I agree with everyone above who thinks a structure that eliminates half the teams from playoff contention based on their previous season(s) sucks.
How about just keeping the traditional power 5 conferences, expanding to a 6 team playoff, 4 best conference champions guaranteed spots (to eliminate the odd 3-5 loss conf. champion) + the next 2 best teams at-large regardless of division or conference. Conference championship games become defacto first round playoff with possibly all 5 champions getting in.
Did you notice that when Lewerke was asked directly if he practiced at all last week he hesitated and then responded "Coach D said I didn't practice last week at all".
Very curious way to answer the question, as in <I'm not going to publically contradict my head coach, if he said it, it must be true.>
That's what I thought at the time watching live, but after watching the replay several times I disagree. The guy launches himself at Speight well after he is already down.
My father was with your grandfather in the 79th. I could never get him to talk about his experiences. What he did tell me is that whatever happens I should do everything possible to make sure that I never got assigned to the infantry.
One of my all time favorite unique Ann Arbor places. Great memories of Bimbo's downtown; great pizza and the old timer band. So much fun getting shit faced and gorging on the pizza during football season with a group of friends.
Chaneling Rey at that moment, I literally had a hard time restraining myself from shouting out in the movie theatre "PUT IT BACK ON! PUT IT BACK ON!!" when he took it off.
I can't remember which pro teams were involved or when this happened - I believe this was back in the 80's, I do remember seeing the replay.
A team was taking a knee at the end of the game to run off the clock and seal a victory. The QB somehow fumbled the snap and the opposing team picked it up and ran it in for a touchdown with no time remaining.
Ever sense that game teams have deployed a "safety" (usually the team's best tackling defensive back) 10-15 yards behind the quarterback when taking a knee to run out the clock. Formally they just lined up in a normal goal line formation.
I'm at work so I don't want to get too involved looking this up right now (What am I doing reading this blog anyway?). Maybe one of you guys can check my memory.
Does anyone else find it difficult to reconcile what these guys did with the fact that SAM had the highest GPA of all the fraternities on campus? (And BTW the greek average is slightly higher than the all campus average.)
They deserved to have their charter pulled. Their actions are a stain on the reputation of every Michigan student and alumni.
I feel like the SDTs kind of got shafted though if their worst crime was standing around and watching it happen. I find it hard to believe they could have done much to stop it once things started getting out of control. Maybe they are refusing to name the chief perps out of some sense of friendship. They have to know who the ringleaders were.
IN my opinion Varsity is quite decent as fight songs go, nowhere near the victors of course, BUT it is probably better than 1/2 or more of other schools primary fight song and its only our secondary song. I can think of less than 10 fight songs from other schools that are clearly better than Varsity IMHO.
I loved Front Page Sports Footballpro '98 for the PC. I continued to play it for years and found it to be much more realistic feeling than Madden or the several other games I tried. Not a college game per se but I created my own rosters so it worked as such. Lot's of fun designing plays with the play editor. Only thing was you couldn't make it run any sort of option play, any sort of handoff or pitch had to be programmed into the play.
We had these when I was in school and I loved them. It was especially cool at The Game when both teams had a season full of stickers on their helmuts.
It seems to me though that the buckeyes have cheapened them. It used to be that only 1 or 2 players would have buckeys on both sides of their helmuts, now it seems like everybody has their entire helmut filled up.
They should be hard to get. Bo didn't think of them as taking away from "The Team" but as another way to motivate.
Oh, I thought this was going to be a video of girls in skimpy bikinis or something like that to get my mind off of CC. This just gets me thinking again about football==HARBAUGH==football==HARBAUGH.
Big problem I see is his season won't be over until maybe days into January. Not sure if we want to start recruiting that late with a non big name. Would he even consider leaving his team before the first ever college playoff? Kind of doubt it. Would Urban let him stay as interim OC through the playoffs? Don't know about that either. Seems like a potential big problem with him. Otherwise I like him.
The ONLY way Pat will leave NU is if they fire him. He is not interested in coaching anywhere but at his alma mater. He loves Northwestern. If they did fire him then it's kind of obvious that we would not be interested at that point.
I believe that Brian is technically correct in game theory terms, but I agree more with the posters who point out the psycological reasons why this may not be the best strategy.
If you go for 2 on your first score and don't make it (statistically < 50/50?) Then you are still down 3 scores and you haven't really accomplished anything. If you kick the one then you are only down 2 scores + hope.
FWIW I have been watching football for a long time, and as far as I know coaches have always advocated and opted for going for 2 later rather than sooner. This doesn't mean that they have necessarily been right all these years, but maybe there is a method to their madness.
IMHO there are a lot of more legitimate things to criticize Hoke about.
After forcing myself to watch these replays again I'm pretty convinced that Gardner has some sort of sholder/arm injury he has been trying to play through.
His attempts to throw long are few and horribly short.
His throwing motion seems worse to me than last year. At first I attributed this to Nuss trying to change his mechanics, but it could also be caused by an injury.
He seems to be floating his passes most of the time. I was alarmed by this against Appy State even though he had only one incompletion, nothing had any zip on it.
He also seems to get worse as the game goes on, which could also be explained by an injury being irrated by making throws or getting hit.
This could also explain some of his apparent hesitation if in the back of his mind he is uncertain if he can make a given throw.

Are you referencing an emotional state or a route our cornerbacks can't cover?
Hurt McNamara theory is the only one that makes sense to me.
Alternative Theory:
Harbaugh: "Hey Josh those QB runs worked great against Minnesota, but I'm bored with them"
Gattis "Me too boss, not going to call any more of those."

I foresee mild criticism coming at OP.
How about a link or short abstract please?

see the columbus roll call thread below
Yes, watched on TV, at some point (2nd Qtr?) the sideline reporter broke in to say he had gone to the locker room. Nature of injury unknown to her.
Interesting theory Devin has, that play calling was purposely conservative in the red zone in order to give Moody some opportunities.

Strongly agree with this. I'd put him at least # 6 on this list.

Actually that was pretty funny as rants go.

Don't think I'd want to try to tackle Steele Chambers, Yikes!
I note with pleasure that Notre Dame will almost certainly drop from tied for 5th to 6th place in total wins when all is said and done this season.

I miss it.
I'm sure this is just a ploy on Jim's part to get Oakland to up their offer.
Chaneling Rey at that moment, I literally had a hard time restraining myself from shouting out in the movie theatre "PUT IT BACK ON! PUT IT BACK ON!!" when he took it off.
WHOSE GOT IT BETTER THAN US !?
BIG TEN REFS

Why are you late to my "How Not to Surrender Even Though You Are French" Seminar??
I equate high GPA with greater maturity, guess I'm wrong. BTW your avatar is my favorite on the board. well done!

That would be Vinnie Testeverde.
Most un-orgegonish uniformz. Bad ju ju for the ducks?
Awesome.

What about Quanzbaugh?
I'm sure those of us who live out of state would love to see photos. Curiosly this phenomena has not spread to Chicago.
In:
1) More band music, less piped in muzak
2) Helmet Stickers
3)Maize Pants
4)Free Beer
Out:
1) Frequent piped in music (some is OK)
2)Uniformz
3)Legends Jerseys
4)Empty seats
Sources have indicated that JH is bringing this man with him from California to fill the S&C position.

Thanks but not much help.
I am 99% that Brian is in SF and Sam is just covering up for his earlier mistake in leaking this clue.
How do I know? I want it to be true so it must be right??
Do you know how much it costs do get a last minute airfare right before Christmas?
Brian's been tipped that there is going to be a press conference and has gone to cover it and get an interview with our new coach.
Based on absolutely complete speculation and the fact that Brian is there I predict the press conference is no later than Monday.

Those who stay will be champions.
Next time you watch Game of Thrones please note that Hodor is actually saying "HARBAUGH!" over and over in his deep Northern Westerosian accent.
He can't think about anything else either.

buy Michigan @ +900 and sell "any other NCAA team" @ +1000. That's just stupid.
I wonder if Hackett's search firm has a statistician to consult with? Probably not.
No.
