I went to the the Iowa game two weeks ago — it was a Friday night and it’s 12 minutes from my house — and tickets were plentiful, through the school and elsewhere. BUT parking was $130 on StubHub.
You can find neighborhood spots if you go early and don’t mind walking but it’s not a tailgate environment.
Right nearby in silver spring is Silver Branch, which is constantly innovating with goses, pilsners and IPAs.
Denizens is also a short walk in the other direction, with maybe fewer options but a higher floor on all of them.
Further out in Maryland is Manor Hill. The Grisette is a great summer beer.
I can walk to 3 Stars and think their best stuff is as good as any locally, but their willingness to experiment means some inconsistency (or at least things that won’t appeal to everyone). Great folks there.
And if you are in Baltimore, Union Brewing does almost everything right. The Old Pro is perfect for a hot day.
Used to be you wouldn’t want to read this board after a loss. Now you don’t want to read it after a win. We’re trucking big ten opponents on the ground, and we’re going to bitch that our first-time starter isn’t throwing enough in a weather-delayed game?
So I think we ride or die with o'korn the rest of the way. I guarantee he will lose at least one game with an inexplicably bad decision but this offense might need his swagger, someone who will win a game not just not-lose one.
Plus it will make it smoother for mccaffrey next season!
We might not jump Baylor this week, but no way a Baylor team with a home loss and that schedule would end up higher than a big ten champion that closed with wins over previously unbeaten Ohio state and Iowa.
I'm not going to the mat here because I'm not certain myself but are we sure 1985 wasn't a 3:30 kick. I swear harbaugh-to-kolesar was under temporary lights in the dusk. (No replay officials back then so games were three hours instead of four.)
The main difference for me: I can't wait to see this team play again. Last season I couldn't believe we'd have to endure another slog seven days later.
Last night's result was disappointing; it was not discouraging.
Totally agree on Skiles. Toughest guy in the gym, knew it, told you it and then delivered on it -- with a sneer that made you loathe him and wish he was wearing your jersey at the same time.
My first game at Michigan Stadium -- vs. Michigan State in 1982 -- for a lot of reasons, but most clear in my mind is whenever a Spartans third-down conversion failed, the defense wasn't off the field before the crowd began chanting "A-C, A-C, A-C."
Why? Because he was going to get a chance to field a punt. I remember *expecting* Desmond to score on certain plays. And I remember thinking *anything* was possible when Denard had the ball.
But I've never heard collective anticipation like that before, or since.
... a former Woody Hayes assistant once decided to come to Ann Arbor to ply his trade. Pretty sure that guy didn't end up wrestling equivocations during the last game of his 21 regular seasons.
Denard might not be the best player in the Michigan history, but in some ways he might be the most important in the past four decades (you could make a case for Carter, for entirely different reasons that I won't go into here).
Denard kept Michigan relevant in a positive way during the most tumultuous era in the program's history. He nearly saved one coach's job and then ensured a smooth transition to the next one -- in many ways at the partial expense of his own athletic fortunes.
Denard detractors, whatever their motivations, should acknowledge this: He is one of the few Michigan football players who has given more to the program than he has gotten from it.
That's not an indictment of anyone or intended to be inflammatory. It's also not to ignore what Denard has gotten from the UNIVERSITY in terms of an education or leadership development. It's merely recognition that without his commitment to the program, Michigan football would be facing a far greater hill to climb back to prominence.
Just so we're all on the same page, everyone knows the reason this is a felony is because of the value of what was taken, right? More than $1,000 makes it a felony, if I'm reading everything correctly
So if Clark had broken in, taken a pair of shoes, presumably he would be facing a misdemeanor charge.
I'm not defending anyone or taking a side in this one. I'm just making sure all the people worked up about us "playing a felon" would have been A-OK with us playing a guy who did the same thing but swiped a less expensive item.

What about something like:
144EVER
(TEAM 144EVER would be even better but maybe the “Team Number” thing is copyrighted?)
Fwiw, figuring there would be no shortage of $42.27 donations, and unable to afford $4,227, I went with $100.
Because someone ought to hang a hundred on their rivals this season.
Go Blue. Go money cannon.
Imagine what Matt Campbell could do with this team. Or Dan Mullen. Or Jim Hermann.
(edit: evidently this board has so much toxicity, it doesn’t recognize sarcasm.)
High (Champions of the) West Double Rye.
LFG Blue!!
My advice: Buy parking now, buy tix whenever.

I assume this is the drinking thread because how else could you watch this game. Jefferson’s Reserve w/Two-hearted back. Still not enough. Egad.

Namaste, mofos. Namaste.

With a side of Columbus turmoil.

But anything that ranks Anthony Carter as the third-best receiver is too silly to be fun.
This would be a good time to click the "Make a Donation" button in the upper right corner, folks.
This kind of stuff ain't free.
