Go Army! Beat Navy!

2 years 23 weeks ago I can attest. It really isn't horrible.

I drowned and was revived when I was 11.  I couldn't swim and got caught in a slight current that pulled me into a deeper area of a large slow river.  I was incredibily lucky because a woman noticed my head come up three times and disappear.  She pulled me to the shore and administered mouth-to-mouth.

I remember kicking off the bottom to get my head above the water to grab a breath several times, got tired, realized it was pointless and sort of gave up.  I remember thinking how comfortable I felt before passing out (very similar to how I've felt when going under for an operation).  You are lucid at one moment and not the next.

I've never feared the water since.

From what I've read since, my situation was very typical of drowning victims.  Unlike on TV and the movies, people drowning don't wave or scream for help.  They bob up a couple of times and then disappear.

2 years 38 weeks ago I'm pretty excited. My son

I'm pretty excited. My son is in beast right now. He will be a firstie when this game is played, and I hope he can get leave so we can go together.

Go Blue! Beat Navy.

If you must have plastic, get an American Express Card through Costco and pay it off every month.

Interest on a credit card means you DOUBLE your balance EVERY 2-4 years depending on the rate and if you pay only the minimum balance.

Truly a license to STEAL.

The Lions Fans one is also pretty funny, but out of date this year.. He recently did one on State, too.

Take Jucos?

Do they lose a year of eligibility? If so, do they also lose a year if they do a fifth year in prep school?

Sorry for the repost; this iPhone app is pretty weak.

6 years 43 weeks ago OT (sort of): Jeopardy

As I read this thread I caught the final round and the answer was "the University of Michigan retired a number for this all-American center who played in 1935".

Would they have accepted "who was Leslie King?" as a correct question and would they double the reward for it?

6 years 43 weeks ago If you're older than 35....

Get yourself a REAL drink......

Blue Squared's classic Martini recipe:

1. Freeze your gin (My preference is Bombay Sapphire, but Tanqueray isn't bad)

2. Cut a slice of skin off of a lemon (expose the lemon flesh).

3. Rim two martini cocktail glasses with the back side of the lemon peel you just sliced off.

4. Pour a small amount of dry vermouth into the first glass.

5. Swirl the vermouth in the glass for a couple of seconds or four.

6. Pour the vermouth into the other martini glass and then into the sink.

7. Put two pimento-stuffed queen olives into each glass along with a lemon twist.

8. Put the glasses into the freezer.

9. Take the glasses and the gin out of the freezer 15 minutes later.

10. Pour the gin into the glasses.

11. Enjoy the world's best Martini!

12. For a variation put a couple of drops of Campari into the glasses after pouring out the vermouth.

13. Try to stand while you're sipping.

You can enjoy this if you're younger than 35, but be CAREFUL!

7 years 21 weeks ago UM flirted with "'THE' University of Michigan" for a while

And we got a lot of shit for it.  Cooler heads prevailed and changed it back to "University of Michigan".  I don't know how official it was or when it was changed back, but I do remember it.

7 years 24 weeks ago Upper Deck is owned by a Spartan

and I'm not sure he actually went to MSU.

Haven't been back in a couple of years as it is just too crowded and loud, but the Phoenix Alumni club is awesome.
