|9 weeks 2 days ago||... Franklin is also||
a very good recruiter and a good coach he will have success with the resources at PSU
Given some more time to recruit I think he can get PSU past MSU.
The East is VERY, VERY tough.

+1,000,000 to you bluesparkhitsyo...!
|12 weeks 2 days ago||. It DID merit another year. In my opinion...||
I am bitterly disappointed in how this whole thing went down.
Unfortunately Brandon's (who hired him) behavior and actions really stoked a fire that got too out of control and contributed to Hoke's demise. The fury of that blaze blinded and skewed a lot of perspective. Notwithstanding the obtuse, narrow sightedness of our fanbase that was perpetuated and supported in part by this blog.
....I was an RA in SouthQuad in the late 80's. Firsthand, I knew what type of program Bo ran and I ALWAYS could hang my hat on the integrity of our program. I felt like Brady was bringing it back and was going to succeed. The team was maturing; he had strong numbers of returning starters and Mattison, Hoke and Nussmeier all have national championship rings. They ARE good coaches. No, we did not get the wins and losses we all wanted.
Brady Hoke came to this university the same person he is today - a MAN of integrity and a good football coach.
I am completely with hazzardc' s post - I maddens me too how ridiculous our fanbase can be - even reactions and responses to this current coaching search are over-the-top.
In the end, Hackett has been a good replacement. I am heartened by how Hackett has approached everything to this point and I hope the steady hand he has had translates into an equally solid hire.
|12 weeks 5 days ago||. Looked exactly like||
Michigan with RR...
|16 weeks 1 hour ago||. Salvatore : To answer all of your questions - "YES"||
Everyone you named is a good coach.
Not every job and every stop for every coach is a a golden road of success. And each of them have had their lows.
Any variety of circumstances, personnel, timing come into play.
To say every one of these men who have been picked to lead teams are all bad coaches is horribly misguided.
In making your argument you choose to highlight former coaches and administrators, many of which were part of the Detroit Lions.
If anything, I think the Detroit Lions organization as a whole might be the problem and not neccessarily the coaches.
When you consider that premise, perhaps Schlissel is wise to address the environment and culture as he said he would and look for some systemic issues before passing full judgement on a group of coaches whose pedigrees are pretty good.
As I have stated before and you have previously bashed, there are several National championship rings on our current staffs hands.
You have your opinion and I respectfully disagree with it.
I am a Michigan Alumnus and I am not interested in tearing down anyone for their opinions.
I wish for the same thing I believe you do; success in all avenues that Michigan is represented.
I wish you would respect my and others opinions that differ from yours.
|16 weeks 4 hours ago||. EXACTLY good for Hoke||
The line of questioning is more of a distraction than the answers in my opinion
|16 weeks 4 hours ago||I guess I am a little surprised||
you didn't anticipate an internet idiot wanting to tear people down on this Blog.
It is extremely hard to find anything written here that is not dripping with a negative, snarky bias.
I mean under Hoke we have the highest APR ever and people still want to knock him.
As a parent of a graduating college senior and a high school senior - both with excellent grades and scores, I know how nebulous the process is and how difficult it is to get into good schools.
I appreciated your post because you were providing excellent insight for those who really wanted to know .
Unfortunately most questions asked of coach Hoke seem driven by a need to bring him down, and regardless of his answer he is still bashed.
|16 weeks 22 hours ago||I Colonel - I agree with you completely||
We both might be overly optimistic,
but I think the opposite can be said for a good portion of the people on MGOBLOG.
Unfortunately they are a very vocal group about their opinions and very contrarian about this coaching staff...
BTW - coaches and coordinators that all have been a part of National championship teams...
|16 weeks 1 day ago||. YES - it provided a POSITIVE message!||
The story of Al provides a very nice foundation to deliver a very important message that this Blog and OUR fanbase needs.
THANK YOU Seth. The fact that you, as part of the core editorial staff, took this path and wrote this article with its positive tone is MUCH appreciated!
I had been slowly weaning my reading of content because of the daily, dismal outlook, negative editorial and awfully disheartening karma represented lately.
My Michigan experience was phenomenal - probably because of Al Renfrew...and I never knew of him until today.
But lately, my Michigan - the Michigan I have known has been taking some pretty heavy hits from its own base.
We all needed the injection of positivity and perspective Al's life story and your piece delivered!

|18 weeks 5 days ago||. Agreed and||
Has anyone considered that as a former football player, being able to sit in on film is just enjoyable, brings back memories, he likes doing it , or it just lets him reminisce?
I think it would be pretty cool.
|18 weeks 5 days ago||..... And since Schlissel is not an alumnus of our University||
and has approximately 3 months under his belt - he can make a properly educated decision? No way.
He is doing a good job of taking a huge amount of information in and using proper due diligence to process it - that is taking action - prudent action.
|18 weeks 5 days ago||correct - the pitchfork mentality during a down period||
in our storied football history surely seems to fan the fire. It is not a defense of the mistakes Brandon has made but a more reasonable perspective of the state of the whole athletic department.
