|1 week 2 days ago||Firstly, it's Hoiberg||
Secondly, he did an absolutely terrible job coaching the Bulls this year. That team has a lot of talent, and he couldn't figure out how to use it. They weren't a championship club by any means, but they should have had no trouble making the playoffs.
That said, I think Izzo would be a very good hire for the Lakers. Even if he only coaches six years, that would be a reasonably long tenure for an NBA coach. The best players there are all very young, and they need a coach to work on skills and discipline as much as anything else. I hate the man, but those are his strengths. They don't need someone who's an NBA tactical genius yet -- those guys help you win close games, whereas the Lakers are just trying not to get blown out.
I'd probably take Kevin Ollie first, because he's younger, has more NBA cred, and is still close to Kevin Durant and Byron Westbrook, with whom he played his final NBA season. KD is a free agent this year (and maybe next year), and Westbrook next season. If Ollie could lure one or both of those two to the Lakers, and is able to mold their youth into NBA talent, the Lakers could turn around pretty quickly.

I'm surprised that this is a particular one Harbaugh has latched onto, but pleased all the same. Funding for it is at historically low levels.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||That's not exactly how concussions work||
But beside that point, there was no immediate need for a scholarship other than to award it to a walk-on, which is a completely different situation than over signing and needing to clear a scholarship.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||Cavs sweep||
No game will finish within 10. The only series that will be more one-sided in the first round is Spurs-Grizzlies.
I think the Pacers could have scared the Cavs, but not the Pistons. I do think that either of the Cavs potential second-round opponents (Atlanta and Boston) are capable of putting a scare in Cleveland.
It's been a good year for Detroit tho, and as long as they don't let Drummond leave in free agency, more good years will follow.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Thornton would take up a scholarship while sitting out||
I don't think there'd be room for Peters and Thornton given the current scholarship situation.
|4 weeks 2 hours ago||At least in the NBA there is||
Many teams have an assistant coach who specializes in putting in the defensive coaching. That was Tom Thibedeau's role with the Rockets and Celtics before he became a head coach. I don't know if that exists in college, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Broncos have three 7th round picks||
With Manning retired, they may want to have some two-back formations. I could see him getting picked in the 7th round by Denver.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Well played||
This sounded so plausible, and I wish this were posted yesterday.
|5 weeks 28 min ago||Umm, okay||
I mean, I also mentioned that they played them close twice last year when both teams had a similar roster. I talked about how the Celtics match up decently with Golden State when healthy. In fact, going back to last year the Celtics are the only team in the NBA the Warriors haven't beaten by more than 5 points. In fact, they're the only team they haven't beaten by more than 10 points. But sure, whatever you say, I'm just looking at one game.
And again, I said the Celtics had a shot. I'm not so foolish so as to guarantee a win.
|5 weeks 4 hours ago||I think Boston has a shot||
They match up decently with Golden State, given GS current injury situation. The two big strikes against Boston are:
1) They're coming off a back-to-back in Portland, which will get them in to the Bay Area rather late.
But the last matchup between these two was one of the best of the season, and both games last year were very competitive as well. This should be a fun one, especially if Crowder plays.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||He's gone after the one-and-done types||
He's just rarely landed them. He got McGary, who turned out to be a two-and-done who was largely injured in year 2. It seemed like Jaylen Brown was Michigan-bound until he wasn't. Devin Booker was another near-miss whom Beilein had recruited for years. Derryck Thornton seemed like ours until Duke convinced him to move up his eligibility by a year. I don't even want to talk about Tyus Battle.
One reason it's difficult to have top 10 classes every year is that Michigan sometimes has less turnover. If you're Kentucky or Indiana, you're anticipating 6-7 open spots a season, so you can recruit like mad. If many seasons you anticipate 3, you're going to have fewer opportunities to go after those top 10 recruits. I do think Beilein is starting to worry less about scholarship space than he used to, which will help in recruiting, although maybe lead to some uncomfortable situations. Not to mention having 5-6 recruits bumps up your rankings due to sheer volume, compared with three recruits.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||I could be wrong, but||
I thought that Jones has officially announced he was graduating early last month, and that his departure was already included in the 87 scholarships.
|6 weeks 2 days ago||It's easy to say Harbaugh||
But Hoke brought us Peppers, and also JBB. Definitely too small of a sample size to make a definitive conclusion, but it's not all Harbs.
I'd be interested in numbers from Maryland and DC as well.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||As a Broncos fan||
I'm really hoping they give Rudock a shot. He's better than Siemian, and I think he'd do great in an offense that really wants its QB under center. That said, for Rudock's sake, I wouldn't want him coming in until mid-season. Then he only has to be better than Mark Sanchez, and not replace Peyton Manning.
|7 weeks 11 hours ago||Too bad both of our seniors are hurt||
Still tough to see them in street clothes. But Irvin and Walton have been around for 4 tourney wins at least, so there's still some winning memories.

But I'm sure he could pull off King George.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||There were a lot of conference tournament upsets this year||
Near a record amount, I think. That gives the bubble a little less room.
We still have a chance, but the team really needed to win one more game somewhere. And given most of our losses weren't even close, we can't look back and say we were an unlucky bounce or two away from that extra win.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||I feel bad rooting against UConn||
It's going to be heartbreaking for one of these teams.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||It might be that Meyer really likes the guy||
He's struggling in the campaign and really needs to win Ohio. I have to imagine Meyer is one of the most popular and respected people in the state, so his endorsement could very well have an impact.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||Yeah, this is totally made up||
Enjoy the peppers in La Paz.
|9 weeks 12 hours ago||He gave an interview just||
He gave an interview just this week to Chris Mannix where he talked about leaving Butler. He LOVES Butler. If for some reason he leaves the Celtics (which is really really improbable for reasons all the same posters have mentioned), he'd just return to Butler. But from all accounts he's pretty content in Boston and has three more years on his contract after this one. I'd be very, very surprised if Stevens weren't still coaching in Boston in 2020.

If you watched from 1999-2008 you'd appreciate 5 tourney appearances in 8 years, including two deep runs.
My biggest gripe is we need to schedule better. Our RPI could easily be 5-10 higher if we just played slightly better cupcakes.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Matt Flynn||
He was a 7th round pick. The difference between 7th round and UDFA is pretty marginal.
I could see the Broncos taking a real look. They could be losing their top two QBs from last season, and Kubiak wants to run the offense with a QB primarily under center.
|11 weeks 5 days ago||To be fair||
The more recruits Harbaugh is able to get from Southern states, the more recruits that are left for them to get in the Midwest.
|15 weeks 21 hours ago||Hopefully he's leaving Jersey early enough||
Might not be too bad to get out by early afternoon. On the other hand, the storm might last well into Sunday, so he could be stuck in Michigan an extra day...
|15 weeks 5 days ago||Gotten better grades?||
He's theoretically graduating in 3.5 years, so I don't think grades were a real issue.
|15 weeks 5 days ago||Glad he's getting his diploma||
Best of luck to him going forward!

She clearly felt victimized and went to a resource for victims of sexual crimes. It's not like she found a police broker.

|16 weeks 2 hours ago||It gave us a lesser amount||
But that's apparently irrelevant. We were at, I think, 82 scholarships used this past season, although presumably those extra schollies went to walk ons for the year.
What matters is 25 new kids who count this year, as opposed to being backdated. What also matters is being at 85 at the end of August -- although what matters to most of us morally is that there aren't any players who are surprised this summer that they don't have a scholarship.
If we can backdate up to 7, we could take 30, and have room to backdate two extra players next year. Consider this a positive side of transition.
