If Clemson loses, I think we're in. The committee likes looking at head-to-head matchups, and we've clearly got that advantage over both Wisconsin and Penn State. And I don't think a 2-loss Clemson team has a better resume than us.
|1 day 14 hours ago||Did you miss the Indiana game?||
The conditions were terrible for throwing, with strong, swirling winds, cold rain, and eventually snow. I'm not saying O'Korn couldn't have been better, but that is not the type of game that should be solely used to judge a quarterback.
|4 days 9 hours ago||I agree||
On the plus side, it would likely mean the Rose Bowl, which is nice. On the minus side, I hate playing the LA teams at the Rose Bowl, and USC is playing like a top 5 team at this point.

That win could be the only good thing to come from Dave Brandon, lol!
|6 days 11 hours ago||I'd be surprised myself||
But it's certainly not out of the question. I'd be shocked if we're lower than 6th this week, and probably 5th. The committee hasn't liked Washington all year (and rightfully so with their non-conference schedule), so even 4th wouldn't be surprising.
Certainly if Colorado beats Washington next week, that helps a ton, because it removes them from the equation, and means we'd have beaten two 11-2 conference champs (with the other being the winner of the B1G championship.) Will one of those teams leapfrog us, even though we've beaten them all, have better wins, and the same record as of this week? It's possible, obviously, but it depends if they're wedded more to conference champs, or overall performance, strength of schedule, and head-to-head results. They've tried to indicate the latter in general.
Now, I do think Washington will beat Colorado, because strength of schedule not withstanding, the eye test supports Washington being the better team. But if Colorado wins, it could be all that we need.
|6 days 16 hours ago||No||
I'm quite sure OSU would have dragged down every receiver and gotten away with it. It happened three plays later at any rate.

As evidenced by TAMU's early ranking.
That said, root for Penn State and Colorado next weekend.
|1 week 21 hours ago||Depends on the contract||
If the buyout isn't steep, they can always make a move the next time a better opportunity comes along. This year's list desirable coaches for big-time programs seemed to start and end with Tom Herman, so if they missed out on that, keeping around someone who's done all right isn't a bad move.
|1 week 3 days ago||I bet another team was about to sign him||
Bears are already down two QB's for the season, and Colts only carry two, but are without Luck.
Glad he's on a roster, and I hope he's able to seize the backup job next year.
EDIT: Posters above indicate my guess was correct.
|1 week 4 days ago||Summit league is not mid-major||
Mid-majors are conferences like Missouri Valley, A-10, even the WCC at this point, in which it would surprise no one in most years if the league got one or more at-large bids. If the Summit League gets two bids, it's only because a 28+-win conference champ loses in the finals of the conference tournament, and even then that team needs to have beaten a few power conference teams at the beginning of the year.

It's up to 74% now.

Where is the poster who always demands this? Missing, I see.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||I still think the Colts need to take the best OL on the board||
Andrew Luck is the key to that team. They've invested a ton in him, and that they can't keep him off his back, despite him being relatively mobile and having a quick release, is the number one problem with that team. Defense is also an obvious issue, but they need to get that offensive line figured out before they're paying a broken QB $20+ million.

|2 weeks 1 day ago||I doubt they'd have won more with Simmons||
Maybe they'd be 3-9, and even that's a stretch.
I like Simmons a ton as a player, but if he were worth even 1 more win every 12 games, he'd be an All-NBA caliber player as a rookie coming off a one-and-done. The team just isnt good. Six lottery picks in four years and they're still the worst team in the NBA.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Defamation?||
They didn't even name the players. Is the entire football program going to sue?
|2 weeks 4 days ago||I disagree regarding the B1G||
I'm not convinced the committee would put Wisconsin ahead of us if it's a close game. We'd have split on the year and have a host of better wins. Certainly OSU wouldn't be ahead of us. Clemson and Washington likely would, but would Louisville get to jump the #2 team by not playing, and their best win on the year vs. a Florida St. team that's ranked lower than four of our wins? I personally don't think so. And that's assuming everyone in the top 8 wins out, except for OSU losing to us -- which is a pretty big assumption given this past weekend..
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Nice to see us at 3||
I'd argue that we probably only have to win the next two weeks to make the CFP if Colorado gets past its next two opponents. That'd cement them in the top 10 as well.
Beating OSU would give us 4 wins against the top 10 and the clear number 2 position heading the B1G championship game. It'd be difficult to move 3 teams ahead of us after a loss unless Wisconsin blew us out.

Reminds you why they're 3-5.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||It bothered me too||
Simple solution: Accepted defensive penalties in the final 30 seconds of the half reset the clock to the time when the snap occurred during the prior play.

I saw during the game that something was thrown. Oh Bills fans, how East Lansing of you!

Assuming they don't lose before then, they will absolutely play to win.

A rookie, obviously, but don't forget about him!
|5 weeks 6 days ago||Not remotely concerned||
Now we have a second path to the B1G title game and playoff. If OSU loses to Nebraska in two weeks, we could still lose to Ohio and make the conference championship game. And beating Nebraska in said game should get us to the playoffs with one loss.
First goal is beat Ohio. But now there's a conceivable back-up plan.
|6 weeks 18 min ago||Yeah, other teams would have to lose||
Colorado beating UW in the conference championship game would help a lot, for instance.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||That would make the sentence redundant then||
Hurdles even if he qualified sound like more than academics -- qualifying is a hurdle, but then there's more. At least that's how I read the sentence.
