You forgot Bredeson is a…

You forgot Bredeson is a known beast. Optimism for Semaj, Morris, El Hadi, Hinton, and Mullings is projection based on actual game performance. That's not blind faith. Sophomore jumps, upper classmen OL being good "next men up", stuck behind 11 NFL players, are proven college realities. The only blind faith position group is QB.

They are what the record…

They are what the record says they are. The worst coached team in the history of Michigan basketball. There's no logical or professional reason to retain the head coach in this situation. There are no parallels to Harbaugh and 2020. Is another year an insult to every basketball coach Michigan has ever fired? Could be. It will not get better.

Allen can't elude…

Allen can't elude gravitational force.

For a similar reason, the TX…

For a similar reason, the TX game jumps out. If home field is 2.5 points they're saying TX is 5 points better on a neutral site. +2.5 in Ann Arbor is saying something.

Tonight, after we're both…

Tonight, after we're both done working, the kids fend for themselves as my wife cooks (completely her choice) a great meal and we share it in our dining room. Saturday we dine at the Chop House and walk the city doing whatever we want. Probably will stop in at the M-Den. Need more gear.

OP needs to link AND read Sam's post before drafting his title.

It has never felt like he…

It has never felt like he really wanted Mich. No idea why and don’t think he’s disingenuous but clearly never got to #1 on his list.

You 110% expected to lose…

You 110% expected to lose Herbert? Why? If so, no one but Feldman and you did. Harbaugh and Minter were expected. Moore being promoted was expected. Retaining Herbert, much of the rest of the staff, and therefore most players, was expected. Now, a lot of that seems in jeopardy.

I guess it depends on what…

I guess it depends on what you mean by stressing. Have you talked to any Michigan fans who don't think Harbaugh, Minter, Sherrone and Herbert were the 4 most important non-players to the championship? Have you spoken to any Michigan fans who don't think attrition is more likely now that coach Herbs is leaving? It's not the end of the world and all is not lost, but this is likely negatively impacting next season and beyond in ways it was reasonable to hope wouldn't happen. That's a bummer for the players and for the fans.

Moore everything.

Moore everything.

Born in ‘69 and loved Bo…

Born in ‘69 and loved Bo. But Harbaugh is better — by a skosh. He got it done in an era when it was much more difficult for Michigan to win it all. Bo won a lot but had it easier. Without Bo, there’s no Harbaugh so it’s close.

When healthy and things are…

When healthy and things are blocked Henderson can hit dingers. Dangerous player. I haven't seen Judkins play a snap. And I'm obviously biased. Ignorance and bias makes for great posts, I know. But I'm not sure either of these guys finish AAs. I also like Mich's RB room as a whole more.

I didn’t think QJ was…

I didn’t think QJ was expected to be back?

Saban’s D is something that…

Saban’s D is something that’s been consistent and roster independent for many years (obviously some small tweaks). I think on O he has both 1) changed with the times and 2) changed to fit his roster. Rees had to change his view on the QB room and develop Milroe-specific game plans. Plus, Rees may not be that good regardless.

It’s only fair — to everyone…

It’s only fair — to everyone. Someone is likely taking Minter. I’d be happier if John did it than anyone except Detroit.

Amazing listen and I'm not…

Amazing listen and I'm not done. Love that Alex has been included in these. Hope that continues. Thanks to all.

EDIT: Wow. Finished listening. I'm in my feels. Thank you, Brian, Seth, Alex and Dave -- for your candor, brilliance and openness. And thanks to every contributor. I lost my brother in the Summer of 2021. We loved MGoBlog. He was done with Harbaugh after The Game 2018. We debated about it often. 2019, 2020 and sometimes this blog gave him a lot of ammo. I choose to think when he passed he influenced the cosmic scales as much as he could. It is the only explanation for the Lions success. I wish he could experience these days with me.

Thanks again. Go Blue!

This. The only way to survive the anticipation over the next 30 hours is content like this. Alex doing gods work.

Ditto. Alex makes these better. Glad he joined.

There was a Bama player…

There was a Bama player breaking down a few yards in front of him. If Jukebox caught the punt and lived up to his name, he might have had a big return but it wasn't open.

Michigan-biased officiating…

Michigan-biased officiating in the Rose Bowl is something I’ve never seen. I have seen Charles White score by fumbling at the 2-yard line. I’ll take a fair and well officiated Rose Bowl any day if we can get it.

What’s funny to me is that…

What’s funny to me is that OU and OSU have had legal proceedings in the past to determine who can brand and market using just “Ohio” I think the vast majority of such branding was done by OSU. So, this faux outrage is quite new for them.

I find myself wishing Rich…

I find myself wishing Rich would press more and advocate more. He is too passive and doesn't simply walk the facts. He gets loud and proud on his victory laps but mumbles his facts in defense of Michigan. He even restates silly narratives and will do as little as add a question mark to his staff or the person in the chair.

This. Essentially, these are…

This. Essentially, these are mostly different ways to state, “I don’t like Harbaugh” at this point.

The only games that will…

The only games that will move the needle for SEC coaches are the CFP games and The Games, though even The Game may not be impressive to them. Maybe they consider the PSU games some but the rest won't factor in their evals at all. Plus, they've got the bias of thinking Michigan is fundamentally sound, big-but-not-SEC-big and fast-but-not-SEC-fast.

I think he's 53 - 53 on PATs.

I think he's 53 - 53 on PATs.

Very few things done by the MGoStaff here strike me as dumb. Removing Mike’s shield strikes me as dumb.

I like Rich. This was a good…

I like Rich. This was a good listen. His victory laps have been enjoyable. I do wish he more effectively used his platform to counter the media absurdity about advanced scouting. I never really heard him push back with logic or facts or pointed questions either with guests or on his own. He also is pearl-clutchy about Harbaugh and the NFL and other things. Definitely more fan boy regarding Michigan than calm, erudite pro-Michigan voice.

This. Michigan fans should…

This. Michigan fans should not give any of his content engagement. Click no links. He does not deserve Michigan’s clout.

Corum, Edwards, Hall and…

Corum, Edwards, Hall and Mullings sound like upgrades for Saturday’s 2nd half.

With all the returning…

With all the returning production we have some idea how these guys play vs OSU and PSU. Also, much of what they’re excellent at seems repeatable and reliable and opponent independent. Those games will be much more difficult but a fair amount of what we’ve seen can be reasonably projected.

Rain adds chaos to ball…

Rain adds chaos to ball handling and good footing, but given the size, skill and experience gap it seems reasonable to think UM’s ball security will be better than IN’s. UM’s offensive style is less affected by the rain and UM’s havoc rate should be even greater. Rain can be an equalizer but I can see it exacerbating IN’s issues.

I think a lot of people are…

I think a lot of people are accounting for what Cade himself has said and how Cade behaved the latter half of the season more than the things that have come out more recently. Based on the reactions of people who are much closer to the program than we are, the sources for the behind the scenes situation seem more legit than you've portrayed above. It was a tough situation for him. Other team leaders seem to have handled their difficulties in ways that still supported the team and have left more gracefully. Cade burned the bridge with fans and probably knew he was doing it.

“Always” must = post-Carr in…

“Always” must = post-Carr in your mind. But even then, you’re wrong. Since Hoke UM has had 9 WRs drafted and Sparty 7. Coleman had a decent year last year but if he makes a name for himself will do so as a Seminole.

I really appreciate the …

I really appreciate the "ranked at the end of the season" metric due to the silliness of preseason rankings and their early season impacts. Thanks for this. Well done.

EDIT: The Kinnick game in 2016 is absolutely on UM. They were the superior team and should have won despite the injuries and challenges. However, I would still call an 8-5 Iowa team at Kinnick a "good" team despite not being ranked. IA was ranked 21 going into their bowl loss.

Maybe '91 & '92 but it's…

Maybe '91 & '92 but it's difficult to compare Michael Taylor and first-year Elvis to this year's JJ. '88 - '90 just don't seem the same. It's very tough to compare then to now for me. I had B1G and Rose Bowl championship aspirations every year (national championships weren't as much on my mind due to Bo's stance and the reality of my fandom since the 70s).

Yeah, the No gloves! No…

Yeah, the No gloves! No wristbands! crowd is just bizarre.

Guess you weren't wearing a $13 pair of cleats from Sears.

In Madden 2123, kids will be…

In Madden 2123, kids will be interacting with AI-generated holograms and literally building teams, developing and coaching them. And then playing on the team with them (if they choose). And MMA will be Mech Martial Arts, but there still won't be flying cars for some reason.

Agreed on the 22-point road…

Agreed on the 22-point road domination. Will add I'm not sure how lucky the TOs were. Stroud's decision on the 3rd down to shovel the ball to Upshaw was definitely initiated by being in a desperate 3rd down hole and pressured. The Paige pick could be TO luck but Okie's sack fumble wasn't called correctly.

Bottom line the TOs felt like the better team had a big hand in causing them. If TOs are ONLY luck then I'm wrong, but I'll suggest they're not only luck. Regardless, the better team played better and throttled the lesser team in their house.

If you're going to decide…

If you're going to decide the comparison based on one game, I would suggest using the one game between the two teams that wasn't close and won on the road by the objectively better team.

This. All. Day. It was so…

This. All. Day. It was so much more than a few plays. The 15 play 81 yard TD drive early in the 3rd proved that they were going to give up big plays AND they were going to get ground into dust. How much of each was up to Knowles.

3 points in the entire 2nd half was not a team that was a play or two from being the better team. The game wasn't close and did not come down to a play here and there. Bizarre OP from a UM fan (IMHO).

It'd be a shame to see…

It'd be a shame to see Mullings go back to LB. I just don't see a future there for him. I'm not sure he's a top RB either, but in this O there are more carries for him there than there are at LB in this D. The top-4 are very good. Don't waste Mullings at LB 5 (or lower).

It's obviously a stacked…

It's obviously a stacked stable. I can see Hall 3 to 6. With Cabana losing the Spring, it's hard to see him passing Hall. I cannot see Gash ahead of him. I don't think Gash gets many snaps this year. Lowest upside. Not great when the lights were on. So, 5 seems the likely floor for Hall. Seven is just a bridge too far and seemed to invite discourse -- which is cool. If you put any stock in Spring, Hall is 3 or 4.

Definitely kick the tires. I…

Definitely kick the tires. I’m not sure he’s better than McBurrows, Walker, Hill & Co., but adding to the competition is a good thing. He didn’t want to compete for PT at PSU so I don’t know if he’d want to compete here.

I get your point. He did…

I get your point. He did play on remarkable teams. He may be overrated. The PIT, SF and Cowboy dynasties all were amazing teams. Montana was not overrated IMO. I think Aikman is the most overrated and possibly Bradshaw was, but Bradshaw was damn good in four Super Bowls. He also played in a brutal era for QB protection.

54-year old here. Perhaps I haven't quite reached your "late middle age." Intriguing and circus are not the bar for me. Success is still a big part of my watching enjoyment. I'm intrigued about how the off-season projects to keeping them successful. I could be wrong, but I think I'll always enjoy the success far more than the circus.
