In the vain of why does our coaching staff do so many things that don't make any sense.
Hoke has said before that he never eats before games. How much does this affect his decision making ability? Seriously. I wonder if he subconsciously knows the reward of food is there even if the reward of a win isn't. So the win doesn't matter as much.

Nuss: Hey Coach, you know they are trying to beat us, right?
Hoke: Ummm (blank look)
Nuss: I mean, they are not just playing against themselves like we are
Hoke: Well, I was aware, but not f...
Nuss: So, they are trying to figure out what we do and exploit our weaknesses. Like this for example, now they are going up tempo on your defense

it does seem shallow at first, but I can see how it could play a part.
Sometimes when you have worked long and hard to achieve something and you realise you are not going to achieve it (insert most of the football goals the team has had for the last couple years), everything else seems to not matter either and you make stupid decisions.

What do I do now that I realise sending my 'thoughts' out to people is condescending?
I don't believe in a Supreme Being that has ordered the universe in such a way that He hears my prayers and they matter. But I strongly believed that somehow my thoughts could go out from my conscious self and settle on another person in such a way that benefited them.

Exact thoughts I had after reading the presser.
I really, really want to keep liking Hoke, but you are entering some stage of delusion when you continue to defend yourself against attacks that were never leveled at you because you cannot grasp the real issue.
It is possible to work harder and work smarter. And at this level of competition you must be able to do both.

I think you are angry because you feel like people are saying the main issue is the concussion when you know that's not true.
But most people are not saying the main issue is the concussion! People are saying that the main issue an incompetant administration who will not admit when they have made a mistake but lie and try to cover it up...and the concussion is just the latest example.

(again I like Hoke, but think he's denying the reality of the situation)
I would like to ask Hoke the following questions:
1. Explain the difference, in your mind, between responsibility and accountability. We all know you are responsible for coaching the team. A quick look at your job title and salary demonstrates that. But what we don't understand is what you mean by being accountable for your responsibilties.
2. We know you like to look at the tape before voicing gut reactions to the public. So after watching tape over the last 12-18 months, point to one area of the team where you can use some sort of measurable criteria to verify improvement.

I really wanted Hoke to succeed. Like many of us, I like the guy.
And I don't really want to spend a lot of time spouting off about how stupid he is because I don't think that's true or really helps.
He is a great position coach...great at teaching DL technique and great at motivating and recruiting to the brand. He does have a strategy and I think it was farily obvious early on in his tenure that his strategy was "if we make the OL and DL dominant, we can win football games." We can agree or disagree whether, correctly implemented, this strategy actually works or not.
But what I think is painfully obvious now is that he cannot see the whole game in real time. And to me that is number 1 on the job description of a head coach.
This is never going to happen, but I think the best case scenario is Hoke - out of his love for Michigan - becomes the DL coach and Michigan hires a new HC. Those players loyal to Hoke would stay and we would retain one of our best recruiters to all that is Michigan football.

META: Each new board post must begin with code letters that correspond to the stage of grief in which the poster finds himself.
D = Denial (eg. we are still young)
A = Anger (eg. Fire 'x')
B = Bargaining (eg. If we can finish with 'x' number of wins...)
Dp = Depression (eg. I can't care anymore)
Acc = Acceptance (eg. Michigan, and the Big Ten for that matter, are irrelevant. But it gives me more time to focus on my other hobby of painting rainbows and pink unicorns!)

I haven't re-watched the tape and I don't plan on it. Man, some of you guys are real gluttons for punishment!
But to me it seemed like Gardner stepped up into trouble multiple time last night. I don't blame the guy for not feeling protected in the pocket. And yes there were many times when there was no pocket. But it seemed like I remember a few times when he didn't bail, but stepped into pressure.
Was i seeing things?

I think Devin can audible. But I'm still confused and would love to know the truth.
I distinctly remember a back and forth last year from a Borges presser where he said Devin had permission to audible. It seems like Devin doesn't necessarily agree.
And does anyone else remember shortly after Denard went down how it seemed Devin was calling a load more audibles than Denard ever did? And they seemed to work?
So why did they seem to severely decrease over last season?

re: "Embracing debate" is tolerating all sorts of things you shouldn't.
the same thing happens when people want to "debate" creationism or "debate" global climate change is not caused by humans. It's bull to consider both sides b/c there is only one side: the truth. This is why most theologians turn down formal debates - it legitimizes the bull by just being on the same stage. Many people didn't think Ken Ham should have debated that nut job a few months ago.

I suggest creating a fantasy 'football' team. Just take a stab and pick some players and it gives you a rooting interest, no matter which teams play.
It's hard to get quickly passionate about a particular club when you don't know their history, players, style, etc. But you may find yourself slowly warming to a specific team as you go along.

I haven't watched a lot of the USMNT, but watching the local club team and England play 'hooof it and hope' from the back year after year is brain numbing.
