|2 weeks 13 hours ago||football is not soccer||
not even close, it would be like punting all day and running the FB up the middle 79 times while throwing downfield once hoping to win on a coin flip
|2 weeks 13 hours ago||Sweden did play||
like cowards, they parked a bus in front of net and hoped it would work. Its one of the worst ways to win in soccer.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||What does Michigan||
consider 1st level? Top 50? Top 25? If so they aren't wrong are they?
Not sure exactly how much of a "dream school" Michigan really was if he wasn't interested in camping and experiencing the football program first hand.

In seriousness, Ole MIss plays a really difficult schedule this year with FSU plus their SEC games which includes Georgia from the East

I've met one person in my life who I thought fit your description. One.

Michigan had in that series right from the start. So many people were convinced PSU would just dominate Michigan and the Big Ten. So satisfying.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||there are people||
in this town who litterally chuckle when you bring up PSU, Baylor and its similarities to Izzo. Total Denialtown.

in that instance the thieves were able to use the game app itself to "flag" a location and draw in their victims.

my brief experience with this is unsupervised kids walking around carrying expensive phones in a park near adults, many of whom are shady characters
I'm glad kids are getting out and doing something, I've seen more on my daily walk through the park than I have in over a year. Many who look like they barely leave the house and TV. But I see kids taking risks going places they probably shouldn't alone (like a downtown area) and talking to complete strangers such as myself.
Bad scene man.
This doesn't even get into the young adults doing this stuff by themselves.

watch Indiana compete with Michigan State and Ohio State. Just admit it.

wanting a long term deal knowing full well he wouldn't get it is a really super way for him to get an excuse to leave another college basketball program he's put on NCAA sanctions

but, to review an end of inning replay, the manager is supposed to come out on the field of play to approach the umpire. That is supposed to be the signal to both teams that they may go to replay as opposed to waiting "on the top step" which is signal for all other reviews.
Having watched it, the TB manager didn't go out on the field, or at least there isn't video of that happening. The umpire might have granted some leeway in following that rule. Once a manager signals he wants to think about replay I think he's given enough time within reason to make a decision. A lot like gatherings on the mound the umpire simply walks over to the dugout and asks for a decision when he feels its taking too long.
With all the technical aspects of replay, getting the right view, monitors, communication to the teams replay guy up in the booth sometimes it can take a bit of time and this particular call wasn't all that diffinitive to me so Tampa Bay took a really good hard look at it before deciding it wouldn't challenge.
This year its seems like unless its 100% clear cut, New York isn't overturning umpires calls on close plays.

Yeah, this guy can F off.

I try not to get excited about 5 star QB's out of high school, feels like 50% of them never turn out the way people expect.

if you mean they played every year. Penn State dominated both programs post Joe Paterno arriving in happy valley. Most of Pitts wins came before PSU was much of anything in football.
other than a 10 year window in the late 70's early 80's when Pitt was competitive, it wasn't much to anyone outside Western Pa.
Likewise PSU/WV where the Mountaineers won all of 2 games against their "rivals" from 1955 on.
No one in college today has any recollection of these series since PSU/Pitt haven't played since 2000 and PSU/WVU haven't played since 1992.
PSU doesn't really have a "rival"(they can claim pitt, but sure ok whatever), which is why they went outside their core Northeast teams to try desperately to find tough competition like Alabama before they arrived in the BIg Ten. Also why they've been so desperate to start something with Michigan and Ohio State. Neither of which I call a rivalry, just good programs playing each other regularly.

knows every damn player in this ridiculous 14 team league, I actually enjoy getting to know the players, some of whom I will barely see in their 4 or 5 year cycle because a 14 team football league is dumb.
|9 weeks 3 days ago||Nameing rights||
for this stadium were a tricky subject for the Illitch's I'm sure. Gordie Howe Arena is what it should be. But in modern sports nameing rights is an important revenue for the teams or city that owns the stadium and for the payee an important tax proposition. There is no way this stadium was not going to have a crappy corporate name attached to it.
|9 weeks 4 days ago||I imagine||
the too many people from somewhere else plays in there, but in Miami they built an awful sterile football stadium in a terrible location and priced their fans out of the place. Then ran the franchise poorly driving away fans. The baseball team played in the same terrible stadium which was rigged terribly for baseball, then built a ridiculous stadium at tax payers expense while having twice fire sold their franchise future away because the owner is a douche. Who wants to be loyal to that?

but I question the timing of this stuff being rehashed as if someone wants old wounds to be reopened at a time when our political and racial discorse is pretty low.
Anyway, the interviews were really interesting, the LA cops still do themselves no favors, feel badly for Marcia Clark because she never tried another case and retired a few years later after all of her personal days were used up. She was very good at her job but that case was such a shit show it ruined her career. Would like to have been in the room when Clark and Christopher Darden when they discussed trying on the glove. Clearly Darden went out on his own there and torpedoed their case.
To this day can't understand how the LAPD could mishandle evidence in such a manner to even present doubt.

a quote in another article that I can't link for some reason says its was a great opportunity to start ASU from the ground up, vision for the program blew him away, opportunity to live in an area he and his wife loved was hard to pass up.
Funding: ASU's new contract with Adidas provids $4million of funding in addition to $1 million a donor gave to the program, and ASU will soon build a new tennis center.
Given the funding, my guess would be his pay check received a large and substantial increase over what Michigan probalby pays its tennis coach.
As you might imagine Pac12 tennis is super competitive. Sounds like an amazing opportunity, best of luck to him.

the "victim of the NCAA" game, pat the kids on the back, call them Spartan Dawgs forever Brah and bitch and win and complain about it all year long. Despite the fact they completely and utterly have screwed this up and mislead these young men all along.
