Sorry to disappoint, but I…

Sorry to disappoint, but I was born in the 1940's and was happy with myself that I was able to do what I did!

So not spam, and only a memory. Take it for what it is worth and look it up your ownself.

I attended M because it was…

I attended M because it was THE best athletically and academically. In 1966. Still is.

Like CJGRAPE I was a…

Like CJGRAPE I was a freshman in an orientation led by Clayton in the summer of 1966.

Clayton was indeed a class act. It became instantly clear how much he was respected by all those in the orientation that knew him.

Frankly, I am shocked at his passing. Our impression was that Clayton was nearly bulletproof, and would never die, if for no other reason that he was too full of life to die. One of those.

From the stands, I could yell out his name. He always recognized me and said hi. Just a really remarkable guy.

I will remember him always. My best to his family.

1. Bo's First; 1969 OSU; easy pick.

3. 2nd ND Night Game with same ND fan

Can anyone answer or does…

Can anyone answer or does anyone know if X. Worthy came to Ann Arbor

to the school he is committed to, for the Wisconsin game

with all the other recruits on his own dime; or is he now

choosing to travel to Alabama on that same dime?

Sure I met him.

For a long…

Sure I met him.

For a long time he was a FOC attorney and referee with the Washtenaw County FOC.

I had different clients who appeared before him on various matters over the years.

He also developed and published alimony and child support Guidelines which are still in use today. Talked with him on the phone quite a few times.

Really good guy. Really smart guy.

1957. Jim Orwig was captain. Played MSU. Sell out crowd. Lost 35 to 6.

After the 1969 game and historic victory over Ohio State,

Bo presented Bump with the game ball saying he never

could have done it without Bump's support.

Cayman Britt and Steve Grote…

Wayman Britt and Steve Grote. Johnny Orr's team. Mid 70's.

At half time of the 1969…

At half time of the 1969 game, Bo's first against OSU, the team of the decade, the score was 24 to 12 Michigan. Back then the banners from each Big Ten school were raised around the stadium. After the half, the crowd lowered the OSU flag to half staff; and, the entire stadium began the "Good Bye Woody song except it went; "Good Bye Woody! F you Woody! Good Bye Woody! We hate to see you go!" You could hear it over the television broadcast!

And it went on and on. After a bit it stopped, but another good play by M, and it started up again and louder. For the rest of the game! The whole second half!

Great game! Great day! Bo's best!

A Woody story;

Woody came…

A Woody story;

Woody came to speak in Plymouth years ago now. 2 prominent Plymouth businessman went to Woody's hotel room to pick him up for the ride to the event. Just as Woody was opening the door, one of the businessman offered the other a lifesaver he had just pulled from his pocket. The second businessman declined the offered lifesaver, and said, "I'll pass."

The first then offered a lifesaver to Woody, who quick as a whip responded, "I'll run."

Yes. Much less.

Yes. Much less.

FWIW apparently Swenson has not taken his OV yet.

Telling.

FWIW apparently Swenson has not taken his OV yet.

Telling.

When I was at Michigan in the 60's,

Ray was still there. We knew he was a legendary old coach, but we had no idea of his story. He was a remarkable character then, and his story underscores just how remarkable a guy he was.

Bob died

a few days after the Iowa game. It was his last game period.

M finished 2nd to MSU in '67;

but beat MSU in the duel meet at Yost when Dave "Baby Hughy" Porter pinned at HWT in the last match!

Mo went no huddle

with Grbac in his first season as head coach!

Hey, I trust the coaches to play the best guy; period.

The notion that Hoke would avoid playing anyone to sidestep media scutiny is bizarre to me. I hope that is not where we are at, because if it is, good luck to us all.

Morris did not take part in pre game warmups.

So he is hurt/injured. Bellomy was running #2 in warmups. Simple.

Is it an advantage to Michigan

by not disclosing Morgan's injury that involves ND having to needlessly spend time game planning believing that he will play? I think that's all it amounts to.

My dad died in 1982;

my  brother in 1991; my father-in-law in 1992; my mother in 2003. There has not been a day pass that I have not thought of each of them in some way. I have discovered that it is the same for others as I expect it will be for you too. It is a good thing because you only think of the good times; and in this way, their spirit lives on. I wish you the best.

Barwis was on

Good Morning America today setting up his new show which airs on Wednesday. Remarkable guy.

It's not just "pretty standard."

It happens every time. Presuming he pleads to a lesser charge (Impaired Driving), he will likely be placed on Probation where more rules will be in place during period of Probation. Courts take these Orders seriously. Rermember Stonum?

My memory and notion only

but it does not seem like M goes after these guys once they have decided otherwise and spent a year elsewhere.

Perhaps baggage accumulates and notions become preconceived and an unwarranted sense of entitlement comes with the kid. Best to let the ship pass and sail on inti the night.

Well, no matter state law,

it is still a violation of Federal law; the feds are just looking the other way for now.

This reminds me of Jamal Crawford

and ridiculous NCAA involvement in eligibility issues. Nuts! Just plain nuts.

6. Bonus Bonus; student ticket package for 6 games in 1966 was $12.

Because alcohol is worse

in almost every way (no letters please). Except for its legality, weed is quick, clean, and no after effects. Your liver won't fall out and your brain and memory will remain in tact. Weed does not mess with your training unless that's  all you do. On the other hand, alcohol really affects your conditioning. Simple.

If that doesn't warm the cockles of your

cotton pickin' maize and blue heart then watch the YouTube highlights!

it's always easier said then done,

but I'd like to think I would have done more than slam a couple lockers, especially if I had been a former victim of abuse.

In another way, it sends a good message

to recruits. High school football players want to actually play once they get to college. They don't want to sit around and marrinate for a couple years. On the job training definitely has to be preferable especially if they are "star" players.

By playing freshmen, M lets them know that they will play if they compete, work hard, and are meritworthy. Just the right message in my view.

In any event, the really good ones are not likely to stay for 5 years. The less than good ones may wind up transferring. May as well get it sorted out right from the git go.

I take it then

that you have the most favorable opinion about Jones of those that are left. Are you optimistic that M gets him?

Chinchilla fur soft…very funny!

BB; do you get the feeling that the M staff has sort of missed the boat on RB recruiting for 2014, or is it just a function of class size and available schollies? Are these recruits (the Enwere's and Mack's and that type) the sort that M would have been recruiting at the outset or are they just filling out the class?

So lets cut to the chase.

Who does KenPom see winning the Championship!? Sheesh, some how some way every game is within a point of his prediction.

Somewhere along last season I was amazed

to learn that the M offense was running something like 42 different formations. Worrisome given the limited practice time and time players have with the coaches. How many different blocking schemes was that? Then there were the questions by reporters to Hoke about "what is your identity."

I'm hoping that Nuss brings a laser like focus on what we need to do and who we are; and then just repetitions the hell out of it.

EDIT: oops.

Its very disappointing

that so many apparently think so little of Brady Hoke that he would need or even accept his boss telling him how to run his team. It follows that the same can be said re Brandon. Does everyone believe that Brandon would hire coaches that are so weak or of so little character that he would need to tell them how to manage their teams? This whole notion is so antithetical to the M that I know going back to Crisler.

I would suggest that Brady is plenty enough to do what he feels is right for his team, and would more than bristle at anyone who had the temerity to tell him what he had to do. If it came to that for him, I am confident he would simply wave goodbye. Either you want the man as your coach or you don't. Simple as that. I expect for both Brady certainly and Brandon too.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Brian to you and your family and the entire staff at MGoBlog.

He also was Ufer's

spotter for years.

Agreed on all points, SRK;

especially the rampant negativism and repeated calls for coaches to be fired. Gotta be hard for any of the young men who play at M, or want to, to see this kind of stuff.

Well Notre Dame this year

was not exactly a slam dunk. Maybe not 1 play, but Countess intercepted in end zone at end of game. Turn that around and maybe one more play and M loses.

Seems like the margin between very good seasons and very poor or mediocre seasons has been pretty small for quite a few years no matter how you slice it.

You have to like the perseverence of this group this year and yesterday for sure. No matter what had happened along the way, they kept at it. Pretty good.

EDIT; In 2006, you could say the hit out of bounds in the 4th quarter against Ohio was the one play and call that cost M that game. So I'd say our best that year was a trip to National Championship game, at least if "best" is meaning optimistic.

Also graduated from Perrysburg HS

with Jimbo Leyland and me!

Seems like it always goes back to Bo in some way.

You gotta be able to run the football, and you gotta be able to stop the run. If you can't do either, you're in big trouble. If you can't do one or the other, still trouble. Little did we know way back when we were pissed at Bo because his offense was boring.

Far from all the experts, but

everywhere I look mistakes and missed assignments are being made. Criticism of the OL, the QB, and the RB's is all warranted on offense. Little or no gain on 1st and 2nd downs results in 3rd and long and predictability and then failure. It happens over and over now. Crazy.

The defense is better, but sooner or later a freshmen DB is gonna get burned by being out of position or missing a tackle, or just finishing a play. Unfortunately very reminiscent of RR year 1. Yikes!

Does not seem to be getting any better. Double yikes! Doesn't make that bill for seat licenses for next year's tickets any easier to swallow.

Don't know why, but

you cannot advance a fumbled punt. Just the rule.

The M AD built itself

just like any private business builds itself. Although Radrick is owned by a public university, it is a private course run by the M AD and no you could not play it as a "taxpayer" even if you paid greens' fees. The tax dollars that go to M do not go to the AD or any part of it, and no rights arise or accrue to anyone who may be a taxpayer on that basis.

This "notion" that because I am a taxpayer and since M is a public institution I have a voice in how the AD is run at M is completely false. Your point ithat the M AD has benefitted from tax dollars is so indirectly obscure as to be almost non-existent. Yeah, tax dollars built the road to the stadium.....that's about it. Not surprised that you would draw conclusions about an "overall philosophy" from this....sheesh.

Well if you mean that

athletic competition is possible at Michigan because other schools AD rely directly on tax dollars taken from that school's General Fund, without which that school could not operate an AD or have a sports team, that's true. But if you are saying M's AD is somehow even indirectly dependent on tax dollars, that is just wrong.

For example, go out to Radrick Farms golf course (U owned and run by the AD) and tell them you are a taxpayer and demand that they allow you to play and see how far that gets you.
