Hoping for Gant ...

That's a horrible statement to make.  Obviously by now you know that it is Wormley, but regardless of who it is, that's a terrible thing to say.  Hate to burst your bubble, but Gant will not redshirt this year.

Gant

If Gant is listed at 196 ... he's dropped at least 20 pounds since his HS basketball season.

Gant Played Well

Saw the replay of the game on TV ... Offensively: 1 Rush for 5 yds ... 1 Reception for 7 yds. Played Slot Back and TE.  Had several great blocks to spring the QBs.(Their 2 QB's rushed for almost 300 yds combined)

Defensively: 3 Solo Tackles, 3 Assists, 1 Broken up pass, 1 touchdown saving tackle, 0 missed tackles, did not get burned on any pass play.  Their defense played mostly man-to-man. Gant looked very good.

YOU have no clue

YOU have no clue guy..(PburgGoBlue).  They were recruiting Gant during his 8th grade year.  Grade points are not established until 9th grade ... correct?  It's my understanding that Gant  has a 3.2 grade point in College Prep Courses.  Since it seems you graduated from St Francis... the Team Physician, perhaps your best basketball player in school history and a former football player on one of your State Championship Teams were the buffers in recruiting Gant.  If Gant wanted to go to St. Francis, St Johns or Central Catholic ... he could have!

That play was the last play

That play was the last play of the FIRST HALF in which Gant caught the pass that was tipped twice.  We (Springfield) had our chance to beat Southview last year but didn't.  We lost to a good team.  It seems like you are bitter that you had Southview beat by 2 touchdowns in the 4th quarter but they came back to beat you last year.

Southview was reprimanded

Southview was reprimanded because the Head Coach went to pick up his daughter at a Jr. High School.  As the Coach was at the Jr. High, a football player walked by and the Coach asked him where he was going to school next year.  The player's father happens to be an administrator, teacher or coach at Northview.  Thus Northview reported the Southview Coach to OHSAA.  Though I'm not a big fan of Southview Coach ... this was very cheesy.  A little jealousy on Northview's part?

Are you kidding? St. Francis

Are you kidding? St. Francis (among others) tried recruiting Gant!

Actually he runs between 4.55

Actually he runs between 4.55 and 4.6 consistently.  Timed at OSU camp last year at 4.55.  According to his HS Track Coaches, reportedly ran 4.51 & 4.55 during track work outs (plus throws shot put almost 49 feet & discus almost 150).  Why no love for Gant? Have you seen him play besides looking at highlights?  The Michigan Coaches did their homework.  Why do you think an offer came before camp?  They are not going to offer just because who he is related to.  As an opposing father & coach and a fan of the Gants, I think I can speak for NW Ohio that we are extremely happy for Allen.

Gant not worthy???

I'm amazed by some of the negative comments concerning Allen Gant not worthy of an offer.  That means that you have never seen him play.  Do you actually think the coaching staff would waste a scholarship on a kid who could not play (regardless who is dad, cousin, uncle, etc. is)? According to his Dad (who laughed at me when I told him about some of these blogs) Allen is not ranked high in the National Recruiting Services because he only attended one camp and zero combines. Rivals ranks him as a receiver and not a safety.  Gant is a tremendous player and I would put him as one of the top 3 safeties in OH.  Go to www.msrohio.com and find Mr. McCallister's blog concerning Gant.

From observation and feedback

From observation and feedback from College Coaches that are in NW Ohio to recruit him ... he is wanted at many positions.  From a personal observation he can play both safety positions or short corner.  He reminds me of Garland Rivers.  At Gant's high school, they play man-to-man defense most of the time.  He is an excellent cover guy.  He is wanted as a receiver (Syracuse - Tyrone Wheatley is recruiting him).  I've seen him the past 2 years line up at TE in scrimmages against Toledo Whitmer's bookend DE's (OSU-bound Hayes & everybody's 2012 #1 player Wormley) and hold his own.  Gant is a very underrated player.

I understand your opinion ...

I understand your opinion ... but I totally disagree.  My son has played against him for 2 years also (I've watch him for 3).  He's the best athlete in the conference and one of the best in NW Ohio.  The shame of it is ... his football coach doesn't play him enough.  He's a great receiver and better defensive back.  I've seen him in the past return punts.  According to his info at the Ohio State camp last year (and per one of his coaches): 6' 1 1/2 ... 208lbs ... 4.55 ... bench press 285 7x. My opinion is that he is a heck of a hitter and football player and is underrated because of not enough playing time.
