Good win… Michigan women go on to Oklahoma City. |

One of my sons picked up two U of M degrees.....Obama and Larry Page were the speakers. Politically, you can't do better than a sitting president and rumor has it that Larry Page didn't do too badly in the business world. The Obama thing was a pain...had to get there early for security, and then you had to wait for his highness to fly out of there after a few thousand hand shakes. |

I'll wait until the report comes out to pass judgement, but I simply don't understand the conduct of the PSU board of trustees who continue to govern the school wearing blinders and run a a major public university without the transparency of FOIA requirements, although that may soon change. http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2013/04/bill_expanding_universities_op.html |
| 1 week 4 days ago | Good for Alabama and Saban. |
Good for Alabama and Saban. Michigan is/was in a very differnt place in terms of its pool of students and academics. There is no shortage of OOS students looking for admission to Michigan, even with OOS tuition at about the highest level of any public U. In terms of value of the program, Michigan is #2 per Forbes, second only to Texas. http://www.forbes.com/pictures/emdm45lieh/2-michigan-wolverines/ Regardless, winning programs definitely help. I would bet that our Final Four appearance helps in significant ways to enahnce the brand as do 11-2/BCS football seasons. |
| 1 week 5 days ago | Dropping the Michigan game |
Dropping the Michigan game only makes sense if you are afraid of losing. It is a huge game with "game of the week" coverage, more so now that it has become a night game. "Chicken" is the correct word. |

I believe I still have most of them on my DirecTV DVR....not sure how I would upload and record the games onto another device.. |

Had Hoke and Mattison showed up two years earlier, I hate to think how good he could have become. In addition to teaching him how to play, they helped him grow up and make good decsions which played a huge part in his development as a player and as a person. Good luck to BWC. |

| 2 weeks 3 days ago | I would think a hockey helmet |
I would think a hockey helmet would compromise a pitchers ability to sneek a peek towards first base when a runner is on first. This is an occupational hazard of baseball.....fortunately it is very rare. I remember when Herb Score, a great pitcher for Cleveland, was hit in the eye by a hit from Gil McDougald. It ruined his career. People get hit by foul balls, baseball bats break and fly into the stands, players have injuries. At some point you have to accept a bit of risk as long as the risks are very low. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/12/sports/baseball/12score.html?_r=0 |

Very scary.....you simply can't protect the face of a pitcher and still provide visibility. Hits like this are rare, but very scary. |
| 3 weeks 1 day ago | NYC, Toronto and Montreal are |
NYC, Toronto and Montreal are all great venues to have a game, but from the perspective of a player coming from where most of the B1G schools are located, wouldn't you rather go someplace warm? Ditto for Denver, but what do you do for the week....take everyone to Vail for a day of skiing and hope that no one blows out a knee? I don't know about others, but if I and the family are going to a bowl game over the Christmas holidays, it is for more than just the game and often to get one more week of warm weather in before winter's hell breaks loose. |
| 3 weeks 3 days ago | The big issue lurking in the |
The big issue lurking in the background and which has the potential to completely change the landscape is the question of liability. We can discuss the topic ad infinitum, but when a university gets sued by a former football player exhibiting the problems some of the NFL players show later in life, and never played pro ball, that will be the game changer. How many universities will want to expose themselves to the potential liability that they could face? I'd bet not many. Playing sports has an inherent risk, including death and paralysis, but death is almost unheard of except when there is some underlying condition and paralysis is rare. I don't know the statistics, but I get the feeling that the number of NFL players with ALS-type problems which are maximally life-altering is very high. My hope is that someone comes up with equipment which will significantly mitigate he problem, but as this SI piece points out, it is not just the helmet that is the problem. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl/news/20121219/nfl-concussions-helmet/ |

I guess this is why Michigan is going with Adidas: University of Michigan currently enjoys the most lucrative adidas contract in college athletics, a deal worth $60 million. |
| 4 weeks 1 day ago | If you look at recruiting, |
If you look at recruiting, the SEC is getting much more of the better talent than is the B1G. Once you move past Michigan and Ohio, there is a very sharp falloff in the level of talent the other B1G schools are bringing on board. |

| 4 weeks 2 days ago | With Verizon FIOS, I am sure |
With Verizon FIOS, I am sure I either have enough bandwidth or can upgrade my service to get enough, but that's me. Most people don't have the greatest internet service. Could our national data networks handle a Superbowl with hundreds of millions of people tuning in at the same time, many with mjultiple HD sets? You can compress things down, but I would rather pay more for better quality. Any viewing model that compromises my viewing experience would not be acceptable, regardless of cost.

Duke and Rice are other bastions of education in the South, to say nothing about public U's in the ACC which have excellent academics and solid athletics. Vandy would be a great addition. In addition to its excellent academics, it is a beautiful school in a fun city with relatively easy access. With James Franklin at the helm,, their football program is starting to be worth noting. Ask the SEC schools whom they beat or almost beat last year.

| 4 weeks 5 days ago | What I don't understand is |
What I don't understand is why any president would pen his/her name to an agreement which runs until 2027 and binds the conference regardless of the prevailing landscape. The current TV model is already changing. Who knows what its value will be in five years, forget the end of the ACC's agreement. Can anyone see a way out of this with some interesting legal theory? Liquidated damages is one thing, this is quite another. |

| 5 weeks 1 day ago | There is risk everywhere. |
There is risk everywhere. You either assume it or you don't. I'm way more concerned about drunk drivers on game day than I am an act of terror, but if someone wants to commit a heinous act, particularly if they are willing to die in its commission, it is very hard to stop. Michigan Stadium is as vulnerable as any other facility where thousands congregate. How many food trucks come into the stadium? How far is the Big House from Ann Arbor Airport, to say nothing of the planes that fly around all day with banners trailing behind them? How dense are the crowds trying to get into the stadium shortly before a game starts? I worry way more about someone tearing an ACL. |

I wouldn't wear those if you paid me. As for our uniform provider, it is hard to forget the "highlighter" unis which seemed to lack numbers and names in football and bball this past year. |

| 6 weeks 4 days ago | Thank you seniors.Assuming |
Thank you seniors. Assuming that Burke and Hardaway go to the NBA, which seems likely, how many scholarships would be available next year? (I ask this question because I don't know how many seniors or on schollies). |
| 6 weeks 4 days ago | Burke really impressed me |
Burke really impressed me tonight...talk about taking a beating and being tough.....he personified both. I think his draft stock came out fine after tonight. I thought Beilein could have called a timeout near the end of the first half when Louisville started hitting threes, and I thought Louisville made better adjustments going into the second half, but I'm very happy Coach B is the captain of the ship. This program has come so far in such a short time. Two years ago, we were happy to get into the tournament; tonight we were in the championship game. Depending upon who stays, we could be a very good team again next year....it will be a while until another Trey Burke shows up, but so many wonderful memories. |

Didn't Smith block Clowney in a rather tender area a few plays earlier, causing clowney to go to the ground in a semi-fetal position? Here's proof: http://cjzero.com/gifs/ClowneyHelmetNuts.gif Smith got up a lot faster than Clowney. |
