but someone needs to insert a Gob Bluth chicken dance gif or video here asap. [EDIT: JCV16 obliged above...nice work] |
| 9 hours 18 min ago | I'm giddy for the days when |
I'm giddy for the days when we get more excited for the defense to be on the field than the offense. It felt that way in 1997 and in 2006, and it's a great position to be in. I see it on the horizon. |

| 2 weeks 2 days ago | I can't imagine any staff not |
I can't imagine any staff not paying some attention ot the recruiting services. There are thousands of football prospects each year to sift through. At the very least, I'd expect all staffs to do a sanity check at the big recruiting sites to make sure nobody slipped through the cracks. And, why not? It's a very cheap resource whose benefits, even if only used minimally, must far outweigh the costs for any school. |

The alumni association sent out this link for people looking to find their optimal watching spot. Hope this helps, as it's clear where this thread is headed. |
| 6 weeks 4 days ago | ^^^ This ^^^ |
Come on people...almost to the end of like 100 comments before the first CONFIDENT! I am shocked myself at how confident I am in this game given how I felt about this team's chances when the tourney started. |

I find it hard to believe they would make this announcement today. Not that I think it won't happen, but can't imagine this official. |
| 8 weeks 2 days ago | GRIII (and THJ) |
What's their rush? I know neither is definitely leaving, and I'd guess less than 50% chance for both, but why would they? Both of their families are clearly very well off (thank you daddies), and college has to be more fun than the NBA if you take the money out of the equation. These guys should stick around, have fun, get a degree and develop into lottery picks. The threat of a career-ending injury just isn't the same motivation as it is in football. |
| 12 weeks 1 day ago | This argument makes no sense. |
This argument makes no sense. It would be one thing if the investment were somehow dependent on the person's response, but whether an actor or an athlete, sexual orientation, marital status or other personal details are completely inconsequential when it comes to their performance on the job. This is why it is illegal to ask those questions. |
| 12 weeks 3 days ago | The "Fresh Five" moniker was |
The "Fresh Five" moniker was thrown around a lot more in 1994 with the Ward, Taylor, Baston, Mitchell, Conlon recruiting class. Back then, given that two of the Fab Fivers were still around, it was much more appropriate. Now it's nothing but a lack of creativity on the part of the author. [EDIT: Sorry T...should have kept reading the thread before posting] |

Never applied anywhere else. Grandfather, great uncles, mother, 2 uncles, aunt, brother, and 2 cousins preceded me. Never even contemplated applying anywhere else. Oh, and I'm from CA. |

They look really good, but if I hadn't been told they were "throwbacks" I'd have no idea. |
| 15 weeks 4 days ago | We have this conversation |
We have this conversation every year. If this guy really is a commit, just because "I Like Burgers" hasn't heard of him doesn't make him "random." If the coaches offered him, the coaches wanted him. If the coaches wanted him, they likely have their reasons. It's not like we have to pass on Dashawn Hand because we got a 3-star CB. |

Cool that your daughter is doing this project, but you aren't exactly sampling a very wide spectrum of opinions here. |

We have got to challenge shots more and for the love of @#$%, BOX OUT!!! |
| 17 weeks 2 days ago | Keep in mind this is only for |
Keep in mind this is only for the Super Bowl teams. We could do this next year, and SF and BAL will have very similar rosters but likely won't be in the Super Bowl. Unless you do this league wide, or at least for all playoff teams, it doesn't seem prudent to jump to any real conclusions. |

I don't know how Joe Pesci wasn't cast. I'd always assumed (for many many years) that when the movie about JoPa got made, Pesci would be the guy. |

I think you should throw in the U.S. News rankings for our Engineering and Business schools too. That would really make us shine. |
| 22 weeks 1 day ago | I read this earlier today and |
I read this earlier today and could only think this is the first of what is going to be a major story evolving in 2013. I hate to say it, but there is no way steroids aren't rampant in CFB. The incentive to succeed and gain access to that NFL $$ is just too great, and with weak testing protocols, there just has to be more use than it currently seems. I think we should all get ready for an MLB style crackdown in the next year or two. |
| 22 weeks 1 day ago | Doesn't matter...either he is |
Doesn't matter...either he is over-rated or, if he does live up to the hype, he's a one and done. The third option is both--over-rated and leaving after freshman year anyway (i.e., Nerlens Noel). |
| 22 weeks 3 days ago | The teams are hard to |
The teams are hard to compare. Our current team is incredibly talented and expertly coached. Execution and shooting have been as good as can be expected. We have a bunch of extraordinarily talented players contributing to a more superior team product. The Fab 5 won on brute force, athleticism and intimidation. I don't remember the same kind of sophisticated offenses being executed the way Beilein has our current guys running. I could be wrong, but this is seems to be the main distinction between the two teams as far as I'm concerned. |
| 23 weeks 7 hours ago | 22 commits now 6 potential EE |
22 commits now 6 potential EE (3 count as part of 2012) = Class effectively currently sits at 19 Miller gone = Class effectively at 18 Lewan possibly gone = class effectively at 17 Major attrition not required. Only barrier is the 85 total scholly limit. |

So the takeaway is that we are almost $100 million (19%) better than Ohio. Sounds low to me. |
| 23 weeks 5 days ago | Interesting idea, and |
Interesting idea, and definitely a metric worth including in a more comprehensive evaluation, but I think you undervalue Ws. Being that I graduated in 1998 (i.e., with the 1997 NC team), I've always been a defender of teams who just know how to close out games. While dominating a game definitely gives insight into a team's strength, I don't think domination is any more valuable than having the skills, coaching, etc. to come back from a deficit to win a game that most teams would lose (see UM-Iowa, 1997). Clearly these are two opposite approaches to winning, but in the end, it's the W/L record that counts most. |

Congrats to Mr. Lewan! I bet there is a very short list of Michigan two-time first-teamers. I think he should go for it, though my hope is rapdly dwindling. |
| 24 weeks 1 day ago | Are you kidding? The guy is |
Are you kidding? The guy is averaging 17 pts and 7 dimes per game as the MVP of the #3 team in the country who happens to be undefeated with an average margin of victory somewhere in the 20s. Let's put on our nerd hats for a moment and assume that statistically speaking, the top 5% (or even 1%) of collegiate PGs represent the "Elite." Who is in that group ahead of Trey Burke? |
