Another stain on the Michigan fotoball program. Another step downward. Hoke was intentionally misleading....scratch that. Let's be honest, Hoke lied. He should be reprimanded. And, with a new President coming in, he ought to be worried about more than that if this thing continues to blow up.

He is self-interested, not selfish. If we lose the negative connotation in describing his motives, the discussion becomes less muddied.

Completely agree. Let's just ignore all the years of training it takes to develop into a D1-caliber football player, and then all the ensuing years it takes to develop into a player that is capable of getting drafted. Its not only insulting to football players, its one of the most ignorant (you know little about the process of becomign a D1 football player) and dumbest (you just really are not that smart) things I read on this board.

I dont think we can read anything in that article about Mitch. My reading is that Jon feels he took a chance the past 4 years regarding getting the playing time he believes he needs and deserves, and didnt get it. Going forward, he is not taking any more chances. Staying in a guard-oriented system is, to him, too much of a risk after the past 4 years. For Horford, its about managing risk, no matter if he is competing with Mitch or a totem pole. Staying in Belein's 'system' is too much of a risk for him. He sees himself having one more shot at the NBA, and he has to maximize his opportunity to get there.
I personally think Mitch is gone.

So we can assume that you have been attacked with a knife (and in a video game doesnt count), which is the reason you can understand how one would react? In addition, seeing it acted out on TV or in a movie doesnt count either.
I guess all the victims are just wimps. Its too bad you werent there to save the day.

Did you cut and past this complaint and 'great idea' from multiple threads after last year's spring display, or from the threads after 2012's spring disiplay? Or perhaps from 2011? Or perhaps 2010?

You are assuming that the offense Nuss is implementing is 1) demonstrably diferent from the core offense Borges ran, and 2) fully installed, rather than only installed piecemeal. From what I have heard, Nuss only installs the next play after the previous one has been mastered. Thus, what we saw on Saturday should have been plays that the offense had a workable level of competence running.

I am actually with you on this. I like Hoke, but his 'use' of the English language bugs me as well. Saying this is not a statement about his coaching, its just a statement about the face of the program at an institution like UM. There is a bit of incongruity there.

The irony in your mention of the activity of pigeons in relation to statues is that it takes a pigeon brain to think that a statue of a coach somehow runs counter to the idea of team. So let's see, what does a coach coach? Yes, a team. The statue exemplifies the notion of an individual who is a team leader, not an individual apart from a team. Without a team, there is no coach. If you cannot see the nuance there, then I guess its that's the breaks when you are limited by a pigeon brain.

From the Big House to Crisler to Schembechler Hall, Michigan continues to impress with its improvements to existing structures.* Its difficult to imagine how each structure could have been better improved.
*Yes, I am strategically excluding the new structure that is the electronic billboard outside the Big House.

I agree, because we can surely assume that the plays in these videos are a dervied from a random sampling of all the plays in all the spring practices this year. As such, they allow us to draw conclusions about the strengths and weaknesses of the team. (I know you were not saying this, but we do need to keep in mind that these videos tell us basically nothing beyond physical characteristics of individual players.)

No it doesnt. It implies that the person assessing the feeling has issues with it, primarily that its more about its mass appeal than foundation in actual events.

Another individual derrogating another school's fanbase. When these posts are made by someone who was not actually at the game, who was not party to the atmosphere, hell, who is not a Clemson student, are just self-serving. They say more about the OP than Clemson's basketball fanbase. I hope this post made you feel superior. Now, its another question as to why you need to create a post like this to feel superior. Save that for your therapist.

Yeah, going to the NBA and making millions is sucking at life. What is it you do again?
|3 weeks 5 days ago||You hope he "eventually grows||
You hope he "eventually grows up"? Get over yourself. Did you ever have to sit back and watch as a universtiy and atheltic apparel industries made millions upon millions off your name - while you made, um, a scholarship with little money to even spend on that apparel? Did you have to deal with being dissassociated from that university because you wanted something amounting to justice and relative equality? When you had a supposedly upstanding, prominent figure associated with the basketball program offering you money? There is no clear right and wrong in Webber's story. He rightly feels he was wronged. And the university rightly feels wronged. It's a big mass of grey.
You cannot know Webber's full story, so stop telling him what to do, what is right and what is wrong (and pompously to "grow up") from your self-constructed white-bread pedastal.

I think the meme that Belein only or primarily recruits guys he thinks are going to stay for 3 to 4 years is bogus. He recruits guys to fill roles, and some guys may take more develpment to fill those roles. Yes, he recruits guys who are not NBA-calibur (again, he recruits to fill roles, not to prepare for the NBA) but this does not mean that he recruits based on the amount of time he thinks they will be around. Looking at a guy like McGary and other guys Belien has gone after, he recruits guys to fill roles, whether those roles will be filled for one year or four years.

1. Hit reply button.
2. Type "McGary is certainly gone."
But in all seriousness, I did explain my logic more in a post below.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Your whole logic throughout||
Your whole logic throughout this thread is that the NBA drafts on a college body of work. This is certainly not the case. All one has to do is look at the guys who have skipped college altogether and who were drafted after one season. If McGary shows he can play up to his potential during draft workouts, his body of college work is near meaningless. The question is whether he will be healthy around draft time. If he is, as reports seem to suggest, he's gone.
