Hope the buckeyes show up and give us a game worthy of the hype. I'm a little worried they'll buckle when we start pushing them around and their coach starts feeling sorry for himself over there on the sideline. But that would be okay, too.
We’ll need 27 possessions of just over a minute each, so rutger will go 3 and out every possession and so will we: 3 complete passes by Brandon Peters, 3 first downs, followed by a field goal on first down. Because nothing says what we need to say quite as eloquently as the first-down field goal. Quinn Nordin goes 27 for 27 to get us to the appropriate 81 points.
Nice of you to offer all that advice. One correction:
you cant get the purple line from Belmont on a Saturday. There will be signs for it but it won’t come. It only runs in Evanston (Howard and north) except during weekday rush hour. From Chicago you take the Red Line to Howard and transfer across the platform to the Purple. Easy.
I suspect you might be underestimating how prevalent domestic violence is, and how many recruits are close to women who have been abused, and have seen the men get away with it and the women live in fear because the people who have the power to bring enough pressure to stop it—people like Urban Meyer—do fucking nothing at all.
It's one level of evil that it takes so long to catch and punish men like Sandusky/Paterno, Nasser, and Smith/Meyer. But what kills me is the abundant evidence that they were not worried about getting caught. The abuse went on and on because no one ever stood up and told them they'd be fired if it happened again. Zach Smith's behavior demonstrates clearly how little Meyer did to protect his wife and establish a culture of respect for women among the men he's charged with leading.
How is this a “really hard situation”? Shelley was in a position of great power over Zach, great power to protect his victim. She and Urban should have both told him in 2009 that if he ever touched her again he’d be immediately fired and never coach again. Isn’t that what you would have done—if not firing him the first time because he was clearly a bad influence on the players?
If the wife sends those picture to her husband’s boss’s wife, she’s asking for help. If she doesn’t want him fired because she wants the money, she at least wants the head coach to threaten her husband, right?
So I ran past Northwestern’s practice field today and they were going full pads, full contact, offense vs defense. Their first game is Thursday the 30th, but that’s only two days before ours.
The best outcome would be for the NCAA to threaten them with not allowing them to compete until they fix the AD, and then the school quickly complying so that no innocent student-athletes get punished for what the school did in the past.
Couldn't the NCAA say to the MSU athletic department, "Until you blow this up and start over with a serious intent to protect student athletes, we're not going to let you compete in revenue sports"? Doesn't the NCAA have a way to punish the AD, not just the gymnastics program and its athletes? Doesn't the school need NCAA approval to compete?
I think we should be higher ranked but it’s hard to know because THERES NO VIDEO! Where is the practice video, coach? You’re killing me over here. I expect Full Submarine in August and then when we come out against ND everybody’s going to be like where did THAT team come from?
Edit: what's really needed, obviously, is someone close to him reaching out to help this guy. We are all broken in one way or another, but without the pressure that comes with the high stakes of this guy's life. I hope he finds a good path.
You're. Sorry you're stuck with me. It's you're, not your. First rule of running down someone else's education is to read your rant carefully and correct for junior high grammar errors. Just stop digging, click the little x up in the corner of your browser window, and move on to something else.
Just want to point out that the allowable blood alcohol level is 4 times as high in the US as in Sweden, where people don't drink and drive and they have a lot less death and destruction on the roads. There they just ask the scientists what's safe and do that; here we start there and then multiply by 4 as a concession to the food and beverage lobby. If you're driving, it's not actually safe to drink at all, no matter how practiced you are at it.
Yes the real victims are the girls, not the fathers. But it’s hard for me to imagine being the 14-year-old gymnast and painfully easy to imagine being her father.
Well the speed limits on highways are there for your safety and mine, because you’re less like to die or kill someone if your crash happens at 60 than at 80. Remember Science? Remember how we used to rely on it to make public policy that is rational and cost effective? We could effectively enforce the speed limit if we installed speed cameras at every mile, spent 100 times more on highway patrol, or shifted all our policing resources over to speed limit enforcement. Which do you prefer?
What do we get if we win? What we get is that we win. That is all we ever play for. To win and not to lose. In a championship game, bowl game, no conference game. At practice, in class, at work. At trick or treating, at checkers, at cancer, at love. Just win.
I can see shoplifting in high school as just something stupid a kid might do. But in college, when you’re on the football team at Notre Dame, and walking around with a gun. That is some punk-ass behavior. Not someone who has bought into being a student athlete, responsible parent, valuable member of a community. And three guys doing it together sounds like it’s a game to them; how is that a funny game at that age and in that position? On the other hand, maybe these guys started off more broken than this even, and Kelly has already helped them get it together somewhat.
Nah. I would expect that you don’t get to bring that kind of shit with you to a place like Michigan or Notre Dame, and that after a few months in the football program you’re ready to move beyond games like that.
The film can be time stamped with the exact time of every frame, and the 3D positional data time stamped as well. For critical calls, replay can say exactly which frame of video the runner is down, and then you can use the rfid positioning system to precisely locate the ball at the same exact moment in time.
No big deal. A lot of people grow up cheering for Michigan but can't get admitted to the university. He wanted to go to college, went to MSU, graduated, congratulations, move on.
[Edit: or wanted to study something that Michigan doesn't offer, like "Beef Cattle Teaching and Research." Shouldn't have assumed he applied and didn't get in.]
Also we use the quality of education and prestige of the degree in football recruiting. That's a harder sell when the kid has no intention of getting a degree, which I guess is more common among top basketball recruits. It might be more of a negative because they have to work hard to qualify academically with no longterm benefit.

Thank you
Hey, thanks for posting that. That was awesome!

Umm it’s rutger
They must of course stop short of the goal line to feed the wild thing.
I think this covers the bases:

Thank you for your service.
Guilty conscience. That hypocrisy shit can get corrosive.
Who?

Hypocrite. Liar.
I think Zach Smith probably understands his role as fall guy for Meyer.

“ Nothing he has to say will provide any real insight”
Well, I suppose he could tell the whole truth about recruiting practices under Meyer at Florida and OSU.

Why are they so far ahead?
Your user name immediately made me think of the #metoo movement and how it’s about to overwhelm OSYouToo. Buckle the fuck up.

Soft defense and Wimbush will definitely start at quarterback. Well that makes me feel good.
G'bye!

That thing wasn't totally busted. You just needed to keep pumping and keep pumping.
