I don't listen to much sports talk radio at all just commenting to spread some of the Maize & Blue love here in the Triangle. I live and work in Cary. |

In fairness, with Coach Cal I think there is something more to the suspicion than just "gets good players." |
| 2 weeks 10 hours ago | I do believe that DB has done |
I do believe that DB has done a good job in this area. I will point out however that (without looking at the past numbers so correct me if I am wrong) Bill Martin was the one that really turned things around for the AD taking it from borderline in the red to solidly in the black. Whatever people think of Martin's coaching hires (I think overall he was a very good AD), Martin was very successful in managing the AD's finances and paved the way for what DB has done. I think DB has faced less "hard decisions" but has done a pretty good job with what he has faced and it certainly appears that the Hoke hire has turned out as well or better than anyone could have expected. |

Of course Michigan had a coaching transition so that distorts the numbers quite a bit. The fact that Alabama is still out in front is actually quite remarkable. |

And here comes thug hockey from the Ducks. Gee how surprising! Can't wait to see what Perry does in the 3rd. |

I agree. Burke is great but people should realliy look up a highlight tape for Isiah. It's simply jaw-dropping some of the ball handling and scoring plays he had earlier in his career. |
| 4 weeks 5 days ago | I agree. And I think the |
I agree. And I think the 2014 class (rather than 2013) is the way to go. UM has plenty of depth coming back but will likely lose 3 or 4 guys next year (including 2-3 in the frontcourt). It looks like we have a stretch 4 in Donnal but we really need two big guys between the 14 and 15 classes. I hope that Beilein can recruit the bigs like McGary. Maybe McGary's run has shown bigs that they can be successful in Beilein's system (of course, he seems to adapt his "system" to the talent availability so that shoud not be an issue anyway). Edit: I did forget about Doyle in 14. Still one more big in 14 would be nice. |

Who is this Johnson kid you keep mentioning? :-) |

Definitely orange. Like pylon cone orange. Edit: This was in response to MGoCombs. |

"Fitz is a baller." Now we know we will have at least two between Fitz and Ferns. Can someone please make him a card? |
| 5 weeks 2 days ago | Those predictions (along with |
Those predictions (along with McDowell) would pretty much finish the class, right? Also, with that quality (even though total numbers would be low) that class would certainly be Top 10 and quite likely Top 5, no? |
| 6 weeks 4 hours ago | Well the benefit to the |
Well the benefit to the player is that he DOES have a guaranteed scholarship for 2015 whereas preferred walk-ons do not. |

He backtracked a bit after saying that. |

IIRC Cowens was all about the hook shot. I don't think I have ever seen a McGary hook. Plus Mitch moves much better. |

Ty Hansbrough |
| 6 weeks 1 day ago | Agree with you. L'ville |
Agree with you. L'ville played great. That said the three you list above PLUS the fact that Hancock committed five fouls but he fourth was credited to the backup center. Hancock scored 5 points in the last 3 minutes after he should have fouled out. |

This x1000. 5 pts from him after his 5th foul. Ouch. |
| 6 weeks 6 days ago | I don't really see the |
I don't really see the downside here. Minor league contract, cheap, gives you a safety blanket and it's not like he is the worst option out there. He just was a bad choice if his contract kept the Tigers from signing someone else. |

Submitted my two applications at the end of last year. I am hoping they meet the 300 number soon. Would have been great to have the plate during the Final Four run. |
| 7 weeks 2 days ago | Fair enough but for a player |
Fair enough but for a player of the year candidate, it wasn't like Ty H was leaping out of the gym either. Just like McGary who moves well but doesn't leap out of the gym. And Ty H was a bullish-type of scorer in the same way that McGary shows once in a while. I think McGary's FT % is bound to go up next year - he has a nice stroke, he just needs more confidence and repetitions. The one thing I see was that Ty H tried to draw fouls desparately while McGary seems to go out of his way to avoid getting fouled. Probably a good decision given his FT %. |
| 7 weeks 2 days ago | To me the best recent |
To me the best recent comparable for McGary is Ty Hansbrough. Certainly Ty had a more polished offensive game in his later years but both guys play physical, are limited jumping-wise but just play the game the right way and hustle all of the time. And McGary may have more upside to his game (although he isn't there yet). |

Yeah I did a double and triple take on that. He clearly means Lawrence Taylor, not Thomas. |

Thanks for all of the updates guys. Really helpful. |
| 9 weeks 2 days ago | The impression that I had was |
The impression that I had was that if Ryan and Gordon were both going to play, Ryan would probably move down to WDE on passing downs. If so, then moving Beyer to SAM doesn't really help much. If one of Ryan or Gordon gets tired or hurt and Beyer were going to play, they would probably just leave Beyer at WDE and put either of Ryan/Gordon at SAM. So I am not sure moving him helps depth really. And then you are moving him to a position with two playmakers so he his even less chance of playing. Again, I am probably missing something here. |
| 9 weeks 2 days ago | Agreed and I don't really |
Agreed and I don't really understand the negative comment about him not gaining weight. Yes, ideally a guy gains weight but Beyer was decent against the run, less so rushing the QB. So do we really want him heavier? I think I want him around the same weight, shedding some fast and gaining a bit of muscle. That could make him more athletic and more of a factor, no? Unless people were anticipating a move to SDE? |

Thanks for the link. |
| 10 weeks 6 days ago | You can question every coach |
You can question every coach if you do that. Like how come IU cannot put away OSU at home and gets shut down. Crean can't coach offense and get his team ready to play? I am frustrated with the defense also but I think it is less about scheme and more about effort at this point. We played some pretty good D vs. MSU (minus the rebounding thing). Tonight we could not stop a dribble drives. |

Maybe more embarrasing is that I still have the #1 jersey I bought from the first Michigan game I attended as a kid when AC was playing. Unless Braylon stole it from my closet that is. |
| 11 weeks 5 days ago | Of course, if Duke were not |
Of course, if Duke were not almost universally hated by opposing fans, it would probably happen a bit less. Actually I am surprised this was a big deal. I watched the end of the game and the security guards seemed to "wall off" the fans from the players just fine. There must have been some insecure areas that didn't show on TV but it looked like they were doing fine to me. |
| 11 weeks 6 days ago | He also has never had a team |
He also has never had a team with this quality of athletes and probably never a team that played man defense as much. So past results may not apply that much. |
