Love this quote from an NBA GM in the MLive article:
"The player development program (at Michigan) is outstanding."
|2 days 16 hours ago||But your statement was "Going||
But your statement was "Going to need some top 10 draft picks to compete with osu on the recruiting front soon."
And my point is that draft slotting does not matter for college team performance and for recruiting, I would think that a Heisman invite carries just as much weight as placing someone as a top 10 draft pick. i.e. We are not at a recruiting disadvantage because Peppers ended as a Heisman finalist and likely a lower first round selection.

Why? Peppers had more of an impact on his team than did either of those guys. I suppose he got invited to NY just on hype? Some guys are just football players and Peppers is one of them. He is going to be a starter on some defense for a long time.
|2 days 17 hours ago||What? So pro scouts were||
What? So pro scouts were concerned about his speed and ability to cover the field? If they can't see from the film that the guy has plenty of speed then these guys are more in the dark than I thought. If anything, 4.46 was a somewhat disappointing time for Peppers.

Thank you. Now, look at the talent on Duke's team and look at the talent level on this Michigan team. No comparion and yet Michigan is still playing while Duke is going home. We can criticize his recruiting and honestly I have been disappointed with that aspect but give him some medium talent and he can mold it into a bunch of dangerous players.

There is plenty of dirt around the Duke program. If you don't think so then you probably think Saban and Bama are as clean as a whistle also.
I will give coach K credit for turning around a program and running a hard-nosed operation. He has adapted with the times and has been wildly successful. That does not mean that he has not been associated with some slime along the way. He's also a bit of a bully and overbearing with the "leadership" stuff.
Plenty of reason not to like him.

Also, many of those were off missed layups when our bigs helped and their guys crashed the boards. The disappointing part for me is that we didn't seem to get run-out opportunities.

I disagree in that OSU's defense was not that bad IMO. Yes, we scored a ton but that was only due to insane shooting. I thought for the most part OSU played at least average, if not better, defense. Cowboy hats off to them.

Well maybe they are half right because that game should have been removed from the books and L'Ville sent to Bolivia.

And the ones that were open were created by good ball movement and penetration. Mostly just shot light out in the 2nd half - and we needed all of it.

I love Beilen but I do sometimes get frustrated. He's a great offensive coach (both from an x and o standpoint and for development of players), definitely needs some help on the defensive end. His teams sometimes appear to play soft and I have been disappointed in his recruiting.
That said, maybe his recruiting isn't all that subpar. Each of MAAR, Wagner and Wilson (and maybe Robinson) have significantly exceeded expectations and pretty much achieved their best-case scenarios. So some of these 3/4 star "disappointments" may turn out to be very good players.
And if Michigan turns into an average defensive team (which we seem to be right now), then it's a very fun and exciting team to watch.

Well I think we are talking about an AD's performance so how negotiations are handled (publicly, fiscally, etc.) seem very relevant.

This was discussed on the board at length a few days ago.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Agree to a point. I learned||
Agree to a point. I learned how to drive in a pickup with a 3 speed on the column, first car was a manual 4 speed Z28 and also drove a GTI manual. Recently however I am in a 328i with the 8 speed auto and I must say I love the transmission. It's really the first auto I have driven (other than the "single speed" Tesla) in which I do not miss a manual somewhat. It just shifts effortlessly and always seems to find the right gear. I think these modern automatics are becoming quite good with less of a trade-off.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||I am willing to wait at least||
I am willing to wait at least two years, maybe more although I think for me it's likely to be only about 1 to 1.5 years. I bought something to carry me over until then so I am not in a huge rush. It was tough to avoid pulling the trigger on the Model S but ultimately, I think it will be the right decision for me.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||It's been almost 10 years||
It's been almost 10 years since I left A2 so this might be dated but Japanese Auto on Main St. was fantastic for both of my cars. Very honest, timely and knowledgable. I have not found someone as good in NC so far.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Um, how dare someone||
Um, how dare someone criticize our defense and toughness? Isn't that completely accurate and what we have been hearing (and observing) all year? That said, the coach also compliments several players and praises Beilen for the offense. I think we all agree that this team is a bit soft and frankly not that talented.

Thanks. These graphs are very helpful. To me it looks like UM's 2017 class is clearly (but not significantly) better than OSU's 2016 class (equal at the top but with better and more depth).

Huh, really surprised that no one wanted to take a charge on that one.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||Not sure this is true. Going||
Not sure this is true. Going way back to Nov/Dec, Sam was indicating that the staff was really high on Becton (when it appeared we were cooling on Banks slightly) but he would not be deciding until 2017. So the indication was Michigan was going to go hard after certain prospects and there might not be room for Becton but I wouldn't label him as a fall-back because the staff wanted him if they still had a spot.
Of course that assumes Sam's story was accurate but it seems reasonable considering Leatherwood, Willis and Wilson were all solid possibilities at that time. It doesn't mean that Becton is Plan B it just means Michigan is in on a banch of great players and they would not "save a spot" for him.
