Well MSU had no HOPE of winning that Bama game and the RESULTS don't look too good either. So I am not sure what he is selling.
|1 week 3 days ago||Yeah, that hit was really||
Yeah, that hit was really nasty - targeting the head, leaving the skates, leaves player bloody. Seems to check all the boxes for a lengthy suspension except that Motte returned to the ice (good news obviously).

Or a plan C option like Willie Henry...

Kind of a dumb punch by Martin. How many games did the OSU guys get? Also, no mention of the fact that there were two groups where it was 2 OSU guys on 1 UM guy? Wasn't exactly a fight but they were throwing rabbit punches in a 2 on 1.

Of course you are not (and I was not) thinking about potential undergrad transfers that would normallly have to sit out a year but can apply for hardship if close to home. No idea if there are any of those but that got Arnett to MSU without sitting a year.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||Wow, not sure that Brian has||
Wow, not sure that Brian has ever claimed to be an expert but he is a passionate hockey fan, follows the team and offers his opinions. Not sure he has ever claimed to be a former player. Just because he is writing as a fan does not mean he should stay silent on the subject.
Apparently you are too serious about hockey to even cheer for the team. Maybe it's time to take a step back.
I assume you think that all sportswriters should have played the game as appropriate levels - otherwise why are they fit to offer opinions?
You can disagree with Brian's opinion on these things - fine. But to then say "stick to football" to him and imply that he cannot write about his opinions on his own blog is lunacy.

True but that might change in Michigan lands Gary.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||For Henry: "If he does depart||
For Henry: "If he does depart move him to #1 in the departing category."
Not true for me. He would probably be #3 behind Wilson and Morgan. Wilson because of obvious hole without him and Morgan because of the LB depth problem. We would love it if we could say at worst the LB crew would be Morgan and Gedeon.
While Henry is good, we have the depth to weather that loss, especially if Gary arrives.

Are the basketball teams going to start hanging banners for making the NCAA tournament? At that point, it's basically a participation award. And yes, this is different from the Final Four in basketball because that requires winning 4 games in the tourney, not just being selected.

On the other hand, Glasgow was lower rated than all of the MSU players.
|6 weeks 13 hours ago||Well, as effective as he was,||
Well, as effective as he was, I don't think many people are going to be double-teaming him in the post any time soon. Most of him points came from dump offs and rebounds. But just to have another credible player at the 5 spot would be great.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||I think he is just||
I think he is just acknowledging the reality that that is a very competitive business and that, until the NCAA enforces rules against doing this, you are putting your school at a competitive disadvantage if you do not. I don't have to like it but I acknowledge that's a reality.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||And replay officials: please||
And replay officials: please grow a pair. We have entrusted you to overrule and correct the ridiculous targeting calls made by said officials (see above). You have one million TV replay angles and as much time as you need. Don't be idiots and blow this.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Also a pretty good hit rate||
Also a pretty good hit rate with the 500+ guys from 2012. You get 4-5 good players from that range, which is realistically all you are hoping for, actually maybe better than one could hope.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||Totally agree with you. I||
Totally agree with you. I think the exciting part is that only recently have we been getting/hope to get the top 10/top 5 type of guys like Peppers and Gary that are *almost* sure-fire good players. That is what OSU has been doing and UM has typically lacked. Those type of players can really make a difference.

Make sure not to talk to anyone at work about what you heard on CNN last night. That information was for you and you only. Do not share any information with anyone else. Ever. Yes, I said you.

I have no idea but it's possible that he was planning to wait to make a decision but a good visit makes that decision more difficult?
Yes, that's optimistic, admittedly.
|8 weeks 3 days ago||Also, Michigan will have much||
Also, Michigan will have much the same OL for 2016. So the best hope for major improvement is at RB.
|8 weeks 3 days ago||I agree (for what that's||
I agree (for what that's worth). I think highly of Davis but he is in a similar mold to others on the roster. Walker is the hope of a shifty but durable back. Maybe Davis can be that guy.
|8 weeks 3 days ago||I know many view LB may be||
I know many view LB may be the biggest need, but IMO (besides Gary), Walker is the biggest decision. Michigan needs a good to outstanding RB and Walker is the best shot for that. Not saying he is a sure thing difference maker but what are the other options?
If Bush goes to FSU, at least Michigan has a good chance with Jones and an outside shot at Jackson.
|8 weeks 3 days ago||No one is playing for a||
No one is playing for a national championship game yet (i.e. if they win they do not win the championship). They are playing to be in the championship game.
And lots of coaches do not PUSH kids to any school, they realize that many have positive things to offer and try to help their kids understand their options rather than try to influence the kid's decision.
I am not whining about anything here because there are times that probably benefits Michigan but there are plenty of coaches "in their right mind" that take a more "hands off" approach.

So it's clear that Michigan would have at LEAST one more NC by now, huh? I guess you think more highly of his coaching ability than most.

We saw the shirtless picture in the previous thread. You missed an opportunity to say "he can't weight to hop on the plane..."

Also, Henne was, according to the coaches, not the best option his freshman year. But the projected starter was injured so Henne stepped in and ran with the opportunity.
|13 weeks 11 hours ago||I agree that is too long.||
I agree that is too long. That's hoping he consistently scores at least 20 per year and plays a power game for 7 years. If so, good signing. Otherwise, could be a problem.

|16 weeks 2 days ago||My understanding is that if||
My understanding is that if you are not on the roster, you do not lose the year of eligibility. On a related note, I assume it's a similar reason why BYU players get 4 or 5 years to play despite going on a mission for 2 years.
