They just now finished counting all of the plusses for the D.
|4 days 5 hours ago||Yes, as did Alabama's||
Yes, as did Alabama's defense. I guess Saban doesn't have talent either.
|4 days 22 hours ago||Disagree if you look at||
Disagree if you look at Rudock last year. He was definitely a weapon by the end of the year and IMO at worst a wash with OSU's QB. Unforunately for Michigan, OSU didn't need great QB play last year against UM and Michigan needed hero ball from its QB.
Certainly OSU has the advantage this year. I think the point above is that Speight is developing but Harbaugh has only had him for one season prior. I take a more muted approach. My guess is that going forward, Michigan QBs will be at least on equal terms to OSU's QBs. Michigan's will likely be better throwers and OSU's likely better runners with each likely to be above average in their given schemes.
|4 days 22 hours ago||Agree in part. From a||
Agree in part. From a feelingsball perspective, I think all but Hill are justified. Gedeon IMO deserves one as he not only has been solid but has also made some spectacular plays. Hill to me is just a decent safety on a very good defense. IMO McCray, Hill and Thomas have not done enough to warrant stars. But I agree with everyone else on D.
|5 days 3 hours ago||Not sure I agree. I think if||
Not sure I agree. I think if Michigan is top 5 each year, it means Michigan is getting approximately (if slightly less) the level of talent of anyone and "enough talent to compete for a championship" each year. Harbaugh (and staff) have definitely shown they can beat teams with similar talent levels. Plus Harbaugh is always going to take some blocky catchy guys and they are typically not rated as highly as Meyer's "athletes." That doesn't mean they will not be just as effective in Harbaugh's scheme. I think if Michigan is "in the conversation" for the best class each year, we will be doing great.
|5 days 22 hours ago||Simple answer: The upside of||
Simple answer: The upside of Michigan possibly getting in (assuming a narrow loss) outweighs the possible downside of OSU getting in (risk of that I feel is lower given an OSU home game) so I would agree to your hypothetical scenario.
Longer answer: I feel this Michigan team has a chance to win it all and I want to maximize that chance. Plus Michigan is much more likely to make it losing a close road game to OSU. OSU is not very likely to make it if OSU loses at home to Michigan (even if a close game).

Yes, and I feel (without looking) that Michigan has forced a reasonable number of interceptions. It's just that not many fumbles are coming our way.
Edit: after looking it appears that the D has 6 interceptions (which seems pretty good IMO) and recovered 4 fumbles (which is lower but still appears to be decent). Michigan has only lost two fumbles and only thrown 2 interceptions. So the tally for 6 games is 10 TOs forced and only 4 TOs committed.

And from what I understand, Singleton, Black and Ruiz are really heavy leans (possibly DPJ as well).
|1 week 5 days ago||He has dropped but is still||
He has dropped but is still at #108 overall. That is still a very strong rating. I think his year is going well but he was only so-so in summer camps, hence the drop. Still I think he deserves to be higher than #8.
|2 weeks 50 min ago||Also interesting to me is||
Also interesting to me is that Speight's pocket presence (usually an attribute for experienced Qbs) is solid whereas his accuracy (rumored to be his strength) is what has faltered a bit. Not what I would have expected. Also, he seems to throw relatively accurately on the run (again, not what I expected).

On rewatch Wisc had LBers running almost full speed towards the line at snap count a ton of times. the OL actually did a great job picking those up for the most part. I was impressed but wondering why that was even necessary. It was easily noticed.
|3 weeks 4 hours ago||Well your post implies that||
Well your post implies that he decommitted just because his mom said no and it seems like you are criticizing him. While that's possible and I understand that his mom may favor UGA, it's not the only possibility and it's a reasonable position for a mom to take anyway. While he didn't have to publicize the details of the BBQ letter, he is also 17 and I don't think he intended to throw Michigan under the bus. If Michigan made a mistake (even if I don't think it's really any big deal) then we live with it.
|3 weeks 5 hours ago||I feel like you are making a||
I feel like you are making a bunch of assumptions here. Maybe he just changed his minds or had second thoughts. He said he was still considering Michigan. Yes, the reason was kind of lame but maybe it was handled correctly behind the scenes, we don't know. Harbaugh is still recruiting him so...
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Well that's probably being a||
Well that's probably being a bit harsh. Seems to me that he is getting direct information from coaches or observers but maybe sometimes the info is either slightly dated or just from one person's perspective. I just wanted to add a note of caution to some thinking that everything is always proven to be 100% accurate or right.
Still, this is valuable information and much appreciated by me and many others. Glad he is posting this and it's a real service to the board.

Generally agree but let's keep in mind that earlier in the week the OP had definitively indicated that Mone would not play (in no uncertain terms). So I am wondering what changed.

Hmmm. I wonder why. Maybe because Ole Miss throws the ball 50 times a game...

Hang in there and best wishes to your family.
I am likely to lose my mother in law to cancer within the next 6 months and have lost my father and sister in the last 3 years. It sucks.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Yes, probably. I expect/am||
Yes, probably. I expect/am hoping for a win but a close, tough win. If Michigan wins by more than 10, it raises my expectations. If Michigan loses, then it probably lowers my expectations a bit.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||Agreed and when you consider||
Agreed and when you consider that LSU, USC, and other top jobs are or will be open, Penn State is likely down the list a bit for top coaches anyway. Not a good year to be looking for a coach.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Well Dananio (1) was a coach||
Well Dananio (1) was a coach at OSU, and (2) shares a mutual hatred of Michigan with OSU so no big surprise he can pull a recruit or two. Hoke was a former head coach in Ohio so he pulled a few but not many head to head big battles. Harbaugh probably is not as well liked in Ohio. So it may take him a bit longer to build relationships in Ohio. Assistants could help here but he has mostly pulled NFL or west coast guys (with the exception of Brown). I think Michigan needs to do better in Ohio but targeting places like NJ, FL and even AL seems to be paying off nicely.

Wow, as always seriously great work there. These are outstanding!
|5 weeks 6 days ago||Um, are you aware that||
Um, are you aware that Colorado won the national championship in the 90-91 season, right? So I doubt that the Hail Mary was the program's best moment (although maybe the most widely recognized).
Despite that, thanks to the OP for the link.

Yes, but consider that the same Clemson team put up 550 yards against Alabama in the title game. So not a good showing but not off the charts bad either.

I hope that it's an ugly, tight game that Sparty loses on a blocked punt.
|6 weeks 2 days ago||Well there's also the other||
Well there's also the other evidence of Partridge being a major positive factor in the recruitment of Drew Singleton, Gary, I think maybe Bush and others. So I take this as a blip.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||I honestly cannot say either||
I honestly cannot say either way. Normally I would shy away from playing some of these guys but given Harbaugh, nothing surprises me much. I do find it interesting that many of us expected (before fall camp) that Evans might redshirt and now that looks like a no-brainer to let him play. On that basis I am inclined to go with Harbaugh's judgment on this given how much he sees these guys in action. Also, we don't know if the player wants to play in any event. If a guy is good enough to play and wants to play, why not play him?
For as much as it might seem wasted playing Davis at RB in game 1, if you leave say Evans out there in the fourth quarter and he suffers an injury, have you really helped your team's future?

Fournettee got hurt on the prior play so he had to leave. It looked like he would return on the next play. Unfortunately (for LSU), they through a pick on that play. Game over.
