I think McGary looks very good but Michigan isn't getting him the ball enough. Everyone wants to create off the dribble or pick n roll then dish it to him but why not just feed him in the post when you have the advantage (e.g. Duke)? I know he typically hasn't been a post up player but I think he can be and when your shooters are being guarded closely, why not dump it into him at either the high or low post? I agree that Horgord and Morgan have been a bit disappointing.
I will agree that GRIII is not being aggressive enough. He looks the same as last year - not bad but not the growth we hoped for.

That's got to be a record, right?

There is also a chance that they think Glasgow might matchup well with Nix and that MIchigan puts Bryant in at LG and slides Glasgow over to C given the matchups against a very physical D-line.

"If Kiffin is on the level"
I had to repeat that over and over in my head...

Maybe they just get to know Brian Kelly better? :-)
ND doesn't strike me as a high-pressure pitch to commit so it's likely something else.

Wow, that's a great deal for the Wings IMO. Nyquist looked very good in the playoffs against the Blackhawks. Still has a great deal to learn but solid potential there.

About 20 years ago, I had a 69 Mustang convertible, medium blue with white top (sorry, no pics). Loved it and wish I had kept it.
|18 weeks 5 days ago||FWIW, that is my recollection||
FWIW, that is my recollection as well. Walker was #1 and Terrell #2 with Fargus #1 (or #2 to UCLA's Foster on one list) while Henson was the #2 or #3 QB.
|19 weeks 5 days ago||Or more recently the A-Train||
Or more recently the A-Train who just happens to be from LA and sits at #2 all time on the UM rushing list. Seems like Fred Jackson has experienced sucess getting RBs out of LA. Wish I could hear Fred after seeing Fournette's film.

Doubt it's Air Force. We brought up Kovacs and AF had plenty of big plays. I could see NEB or OSU.
|20 weeks 5 days ago||Yes, I do see where his other||
Yes, I do see where his other listing was "perimeter players" which was odd because Michigan was not listed. If you take GRIII into consideration and add Walton, Spike, Stauskus, Irvin and Levert, I don't see how Michigan doesn't make the top 10. I can see how Michigan doesn't make the list if you are only including 1s and 2s. Just seems annoying to me but I guess that's the worldwide leader for you. Thanks for your input.
Also seems odd where Josh Smith would be classified as a backcourt player for the Pistons. Weird IMO.
|20 weeks 5 days ago||Thanks but that is contrary||
Thanks but that is contrary to how I was raised with bball. Admittedly I am old so maybe thoughts have changed with more 3-guard offenses although the sources I searched all seemed to agree that backcourt = guards and frontcourt = forwards and center.
|20 weeks 5 days ago||WTF? When did "frontcourt"||
WTF? When did "frontcourt" become only the 4 and 5 players? I thought that term included the 3. That seems to be the standard everywhere I look.
|20 weeks 5 days ago||Obviously biased but I would||
Obviously biased but I would rank UM's frontcourt over MSU's. McGary better than Payne, GRIII better than Dawson and Morgan/Irvin/Horford better than Costello/Gauna/Kaminski. What am I missing here. FWIW, I think MSU has the better backcourt.

Yeah, who was that QB that just graduated anyway? I know he never threw passes to Gallon, right?
|24 weeks 2 days ago||Yes, we don't lead the||
Yes, we don't lead the national in medical schollies like Bama. Plus Bama didn't have a coaching change. Plus we don't have newspaper articles about kids being pushed out for scholarship purposes. And we have signed about 15 less kids over a certain time period. Other than that, yeah the situations are totallly comparable.
|25 weeks 13 hours ago||I agree that someone will||
I agree that someone will likely give him 5 years at $5Mil plus. Just don't think it will be the Wings since they typically do not overspend on UFAs although they certainly did make a big play for Suter. I just think it's unlikely they get in a bidding war unless it's a real top end guy. Letang might qualify.
|25 weeks 18 hours ago||I believe he is a||
I believe he is a right-handed shot, correct? I guess you can make a case for him but he is also 29 and doesn't score much so depending on term, that may be a reach (e.g. if he wants a 5-year deal).
Letang seems like a good fit for the Wings but the word is that he wants at least $7Mil per on at least a 5-year deal after next year. I would guess that he will get that.
|25 weeks 19 hours ago||Also, Dats was the best||
Also, Dats was the best player on the ice in the Ducks series and the Ducks are definitely "thuggish." Dats can handle himself just fine.
|25 weeks 19 hours ago||I agree with acquiring a||
I agree with acquiring a D-man but only if it's a top-2 guy. You don't get those guys for $5Mil. The Wings have an opening if they can find an elite, $6 or 7 Mil guy but they have plenty of top 3-4 guys so they do not need to reach by paying a #4 guy $5Mil per year. Going after Suter was okay. Going after Mark Streit would not be.

I think he meant show-boating and being treated differently from other players, not DUIs and other behavioral issues. I have not seen Hoke have a problem with the former one.

BTW, the Canes are introducing new jerseys as well.
Appears to be NJ for the road and DET at home.
Disappointing they are removing the hurricane flags from the sweater as that was the part I liked the best.

True, but also remember than T. Howard is Westphal's coach. That may make a difference in the end.

So it's a mistake not giving long-term deals to complete unknowns but also a mistake giving 2-year deals to established players?
|27 weeks 4 days ago||I agree with some of your||
I agree with some of your criticism but you don't seem to mention Damien Brunner and that was a golden find. Also, whether or not it was pure luck or part of the plan, the lack of signings forced the Wings to play the kids and that maturation gives DET more promise going forward.

In fairness, with Coach Cal I think there is something more to the suspicion than just "gets good players."
|31 weeks 1 hour ago||I do believe that DB has done||
I do believe that DB has done a good job in this area. I will point out however that (without looking at the past numbers so correct me if I am wrong) Bill Martin was the one that really turned things around for the AD taking it from borderline in the red to solidly in the black. Whatever people think of Martin's coaching hires (I think overall he was a very good AD), Martin was very successful in managing the AD's finances and paved the way for what DB has done. I think DB has faced less "hard decisions" but has done a pretty good job with what he has faced and it certainly appears that the Hoke hire has turned out as well or better than anyone could have expected.
