So if these trips are…

So if these trips are planned so far in advance, and deposits are non-refundable, then the parents had to know there was a chance it was going to come to this before the playoffs started. They should have figured this out before districts and made their decision then and withdrawn from the tournament. Let the kids who worked all season to play for a championship play for it.

Do think Winston sits that…

Do think Winston sits that whole time if the lead goes up 6 instead of down 6? Autobenching isn't the real issue, automatic, rigid autobenching is the problem. How different does the game look in the second half if Michigan builds the lead to 15-18 (or more once Winston went out)? Instead, Michigan backed off and let MSU get back in the game, grab momentum at half time, and attack in the second half. And don't even start on autobenching Iggy and Livers at the same time.

Second-half minutes might generally be more valuable than first-half minutes, but you have to have a feel for when go for the kill and when to tread water. Saturday felt like a kill moment.

Web Host Nexus likely hosts the website, so they are in charge of the Drupal configuration. HUEL just designs the content.
Keeping your sister's account

Keeping your sister's account loggd in should work, but in case it doesn't you can go into your Xfinity account and tell it not to auto-login. Then it should prompt you to log in every time you want to use a TV provider, and you'll be able to log in with your sister's account.

I don't think staying logged in to your sister's account will work, because Xfinity detects the network you are on and will use that as authentication unless you tell it not to.

Not the point The point you can take from that is that it wasn't that Michigan was dominated, like the media says. Between the 3 point shooting, the and-1s that rolled out and even-worse-than-normal free throw shooting, there were enough points left or there to be right with Nova the whole way. Michigan didn't lose because DiVincenzo went off, they lost because they couldn't shoot well enough to keep up. I also think the defense started to lay in the second half because the offense was so bogged down. Would have been a different game if we just shoot to our season norms.

Buying Titles You're okay with T. Boone Pickens bankrolling Oklahoma State to multiple championships? What is to stop boosters from buying the high school All-American team each year to pull in to recruiting classes?
Speaking of the redesign and

Speaking of the redesign and nuking posts, will there be a feature to leave some sort of remnant of the nuked post so that we are aware when it happens? Not keeping the original content or anything, but at least some placeholder so we know a post was nuked and poor OP doesn't think he's getting attacked for an innocent post.

I've actually worked through

I've actually worked through that type of scenario before myself. The biggest issue with your idea is that you have all 130 Div 1 teams in it, and that isn't realistic or smart. To have 13 conferences, either a MAC team is getting into the playoff every year to be slaughtered by Alabama, or you are reshuffling every conference so that there are only a couple of good teams in each conference.

What I've played with before is separating FBS/Div 1 into two groups similar to the P5/G5 system. I go back and forth between 6 or 8 conferences and I think 6 makes more sense. Tell me there are more than 60 teams with any real chance to win the playoff? Anyway, the other schools would be in their own division and have their own playoff.

6 conferences, 10 teams; round-robin scheduling with a couple of OOC games before. 8 team playoff (6 champions, 2 wild-card) and presto: everyone has a clear path to the playoff.

Can you empty something that

Can you empty something that doesn't have anything in it in the first place?

It's for both: if you spend 2

It's for both: if you spend 2 years of high school in Detroit, they'll pay for 2-3 years of community college or trade school. If you spend 4 years of high school there, you'll get 4 years at one of the universities listed.

Actually, his numbers are a

Actually, his numbers are a bit off there. Albion is $21,000 per semester, so $42,000 a year for tuition. Add in another $12,000 or more for room and board and you're spending $54,000+ for the privelege of spending a year in Albion.

Or you positive points. I don't know.

From what I recall, they were

From what I recall, they were all for having Jack on the show, and made Jim promise to bring him on next time (at least on the air). I thought they were even both on one time; LeBetard loved it.

I think LeBetard just gets distracted by shiny objects and moves on from all of his "we are going to have this guest on every week" all the time. They usually last 2, maybe 3 weeks.

How can you know who Dan

How can you know who Dan LeBetard is without knowing who Stugotz is?

It seems like it would be

It seems like it would be more beneficial to show off to Wisconsin and Ohio State that we do, in fact, have a passing game they have to prepare for than to hide it. Also, it seems like it would be better to rep the passing game in the real world before trying it against a tough defense.

I'd love to see a game go somewhat like last year's UCF game; throw early, throw often and keep throwing even when up big. Peters needs reps, the line needs reps, the receivers need reps. Go get em!

So if Michigan beats

So if Michigan beats Wisconsin, loses to OSU and wins their bowl game and finishes 10-3 again, is this season a failure to you because of how they looked getting there? Other than swapping results of the Wisconsin (or Florida) game with a surprisingly-improved MSU, that would meet your preseason expectations.

I've never understood how

I've never understood how that would work. There isn't time for Harbaugh to veto a play and have someone come up with another play, get it approved and called into the game without a delay of game penalty. Especially when he's caught up in the all of the action going on. I think that's more of a "the buck stops here" answer from Harbaugh when questioned about playcalling.

It means he gets to hand-pick

It means he gets to hand-pick whichever 5* players he wants and someone buys them for him, just like a wedding registry.

Hoke's 2014 team included

Hoke's 2014 team included those same "draft picks" and went 5-7. Maybe Harbaugh should get some credit for taking all of those players, most of whom were not getting drafted under Brady Hoke, and turning them into draft picks?

Hoke went 11-2, 8-5, 7-6 and 5-7. Harbaugh is 10-3, 10-3 and 4-2 so far (projecting to 8-4 or 9-3). How is that not "mitigating talent deficiencies" better than Hoke? Michigan's switch between styles (twice) and bad coaching hires racked up a talent deficiency that was going to have to be paid for eventually. They're paying for it this year, and doing it while still winning 8+ games. If things don't get better from here, then maybe the comparison to Hoke is okay, but for now it's not even close.

Have you watched the last two

Have you watched the last two games? We've already had all of that stuff, plus stupid delay of game penalties and ignoring wide-open receivers. Why would it be worse if Peters does it than when O'Korn does it?

Well, at least we'll be

Well, at least we'll be wearing the road whites (right?! Please say yes) and they'll be in home black jerseys.  Not a huge advantage, but I always remember hating wearing dark jerseys on hot sunny days.

You might want to go back and

You might want to go back and read the UFR from that game... you may not be remembering it correctly.

Oddly however, Brian even called out how much better Speight was when facing some pressure and having to move around; he became much more accurate passing the ball. Seems like the opposite of this year, when apparently we can only expect him to complete a pass when the offensive line keeps everyone at least 5 yards away from him. Is some of this mental? Does he have some kind of PTSD from the injury last year?

Statistically, a HBP is

Statistically, a HBP is exactly the same as a BB; they just get counted in different categories. The credit for the batter is the same: no at-bat, but an uptick in OBP. They just keep separate counts of walks and HBPs, proably so that people can get more statistical credit for taking the beating.

Chipper implied Western

Chipper implied Western Michigan was the only in-state competition for a 5* OT, but that the competetion ended when PJ Fleck moved to Minnesota (the burn is that MSU is less of an option for him than WMU).

What fate did OSU see? As is

What fate did OSU see? As is currently, OSU got hit harder than Ole Miss. OSU had 2 years of a postseason ban, lost scholarships, and Tressel received a show-cause (which is how they got Fickell and then Meyer). They just lucked into Meyer being available.

You all realize that you

You all realize that you aren't "cord-cutting" if you're replacing your DirecTV/Dish service with Vue/Sling, right? You're just replacing the big fat cord with a skinnier cord and still paying for channels you don't watch all the time (but fewer of them). One step at a time, I guess.

Actually, you can do this,

Actually, you can do this, but it can be a PITA to set up. You have to go into your Comcast account, and there is a setting for turning off the automatic login. Seems like it take a few minutes to actually kick in or something, especially if you get to the settings page from being automatically logged in and blocked for a streaming app. But eventually it does work, and I haven't had a problem since.

The only thing that is annoying is using the XFinitiy app to watch TV; most of the shows (at least anything live) require you to be on your "home" internet, so the app is pretty useless for me.

The Big Ten rule you are

The Big Ten rule you are thinking of is the oversigning rule, not the backdating rule. The Big Ten allows you to carry up to 88 players in the offseason, as long as you can clearly document how that number will be back down to 85 before fall camp.

The only rule that affects backdating EE's is that you have to stay within the 25 per year rule. We won't be able to backdate any EE's next year.

My favorite part of the

My favorite part of the aricle:

"It's a classic type of house, because he has a lot of swag in him but he just doesn't show it." - Daniel Wright, Alabama commit

and then the rest of the article talks about Saban's 9,000 sq. ft house, fleet of golf carts, giant TV, diamonds all over the place, etc. If that's a classic house, what does it look like when Saban starts to show his swag?

That's why they're pissed;

That's why they're pissed; they got caught and Alabama just hangs it out there for all to see.

Swenson was asking to rely on

Swenson wasn't asking to rely on old tape. He wanted them to wait and review his senior tape (to be forthcoming at that point).

My guess would be that he knew he was recovering from surgery, was afraid that his camp performance would be sub-par, and bet that he would be up to form by fall. He lost that bet and his tape from the fall was sub-par so his scholarship got pulled.

If you're gonna put all your chips on one number of the roulette wheel, you can't get mad if you lose all your chips.

I think he's referring to

I think he's referring to Speight being #7 on the pre-bowl list, not #1 or #2.

That isn't correct, as far as

That isn't correct, as far as I remember it. The rule is that if Alabama were to have a penalty, Clemson gets to choose to have the 10 second runoff if they want, but they don't have to.

EDIT: nevermind, read it wrong. The penalty would have accomplished what you wanted (forced a kick for overtime).

For those wondering,

For those wondering, apparently his buyout drops $1.6 million as of January 1, so that's why it's this late (it is effective January 2).

I'd assume he is replacing

I'd assume he is replacing Fickell, who took over at Cincinnati.

The question isn't whether or

The question isn't whether or not the coaching staff was aware of who the officiating crew was (I'm sure they were informed which crew would be working the game), it comes down to whether or not Harbaugh and company should be expected to run background checks on all officials before each game. I highly doubt they pay much attention to who the officials are, they probably trust the B1G to assign competent, unbiased officials each week.

Apparently we need to hire more staffers to run background checks on all officials, since the B1G can't do anything right.

Here's the funny thing: ABC

Here's the funny thing: ABC has that stupid hover-camera at the game, literally able to take directly-overheard video of every play. They used it on the opening kickoff to the effect that I couldn't tell who ended up with the ball. You're telling me nobody in the production van thought to position the camera directly over the line of scrimmage on that play? They have to have video from directly overhead that could end this discussion once and for all.

Tell me again how Urban

Tell me again how Urban "coached to win" this game? Or last week's game? He has superior athletes that make plays time and time again for him. He basically called one of two running plays or a short pass all day long. He wasn't aggresive at all. 4th and 6 inches calls aren't aggresive, they're common sense.

I think the fake punt was an option for the punter (like we had Blake do last year against MSU or somebody), not a gutsy call; Urban was furious at it.

The only explosive play of the game was Barrett's 40 yard run, and that was pretty obviously all on him, not a play call.

And don't get me started on "aggresive" Dantonio. His aggresive playcalls are usually pretty stupid. Until this year, he has just had a combination of luck and a great defense to bail him out.

Of course Smith leads in YAC.

Of course Smith leads in YAC. He runs directly into contact while everyone else runs through the holes provided to them.

OSU absolutely could be left

OSU absolutely could be left out if they don't make the title game. The committee has repeatedly stated that in-season rankings are used as practice exercises and are an attempt to rank the teams with only facts known at the time. When the season ends, they will add in the criteria of conference champions; they don't project conference championships in season.

Basically the playoff boils down to this: Alabama is in. Clemson/Louisville is in. The B1G champion is in. That leaves the P12 champion, the 1-loss B1G non-champion, potentially Louisville if they aren't the ACC champion, and *maybe* Oklahoma again if they end up winning the B12 (though highly doubtful).

There are lot of scenarios where a 1 loss Louisville takes the spot over 1 loss OSU (or Michigan). I don't think it happens because of OSU's reputation, but it isn't that crazy either. What if the final spot is between Louisville (only loss to #2 Clemson after Clemson wins the ACC) and 1 loss OSU (only loss to 3 loss PSU, which loses to Wisconsin in the B1G title game)? I think OSU is in, but maybe not.

No depth? How much more depth

No depth? How much more depth can you have than a backup who started for a season and a half at a Divison 1 school? Most years our backup is going to be an underclassman who has never done anything but hand off the ball when we're leading by 40 points.

Except that on the long

Except that on the long bombs, Herbie and Fowler kept point out how other guys were open in the mid-range, and Speight kept going for the home run. Is that on the play call or the quarterback?

I don't think you understand

I don't think you understand how the current TV model works.

Purdue and Illinois could

Purdue and Illinois could play on the set of the news broadcast and it wouldn't make the news.

Exactly, and the committee

Exactly, and the committee has long held that they care more about who you beat than who you lose to.  Just about everyone is going to lose a game this season; the committee has shown that they will overlook a loss if the rest of your resume is strong; Texas A&M's is stronger than Washington at the moment, even with the loss to the #1 team in the country.

Think of it this way: if Texas A&M's schedule had fallen differently so that they hadn't played Alabama yet, and instead beat up on South Carolina that weekend with Alabama still upcoming, would you be upset about them being #4? They would have one more meaningless win and be undefeated.  Would they be a better team?

What?  How has the committee

What?  How has the committee "jammed" itself? They have made it plainly clear from day 1 that they construct these "rankings" each week based on the data on-hand at the time, not how they predict the season will end. If Alabama loses this week, they will drop below Clemson and Michigan.  They'll probably stay in the top 4, but A&M will drop as well.

They've already shown that this whole in-season ranking thing is pointless because it doesn't take into consideration a main foundation of their final rankings: conference championships. Two years ago, TCU was in the final 4 until the final rankings when they were dropped for no other reason than they didn't have a conference championship and OSU did.

Let the season play out before we declare the whole thing a sham. The rankings are meaningless at this point, and they aren't handled like the AP or coaches do theirs.

That dude comes flying in

That dude comes flying in from the right to try to tackle Jabrill but gets sidestepped and comes up with nothing but air. And Bush landing on him.

It will be interesting to

It will be interesting to read the UFR and get Brian's take.  While Speight hit his targets, it still feels like he hits them a step slow, and his ball takes too long to get there.  There were a number of throws where our guys had to stop, slow, or adjust to the ball in a way that prevented YAC. That kind of stuff can kill drives against a good defense where you need to get all the yards to can when you get the opportunity. The Butt near-touchdown is an example of that; if he hits Butt in stride, he walks into the endzone.  Instead he had to make a tough catch on the 1.

Speight did make a number of great throws into small windows, it just seems like he is still a second late reading his progressions and reacting.
