Great experience, players…

Great experience, players were uniformly friendly and receptive to comments and encouraging words.  We got pics of my son (named Caden) with Corum and McNamara.  The latter’s reply to my son telling him, “My name is Cade too”, was “That’s a great name!”

Calvin class of ‘96, and married to a Hope grad (lol) whom I met at work, so I can say both Go Knights and go Pete Stuursma (who my oldest two had as their principal at EGRMS, total respect).  Good luck Coach Ross!

I'm a Michigan fan (obvi),…

I'm a Michigan fan (obvi), and a graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, thus Knight.  Plus Calvin doesn't have football, so the joke goes that we're undefeated since 1876!

I felt with all the talk about officiating that it would be fair to bring up times we benefited. It's impossible to be objective, because we love the team so much. I can appreciate the work of the moderators, so raise the threshold if it makes the job easier. I stand by the topic of my post, FWIW.
Opponent Watch and Brian's Monday column

exceed my expectations each and every week.  The only thing that could have made today's entry better would have been more Simpsons references!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

+1 for the reference

You beat me to it.

GR Press and WSJ

I still have both delivered to my home and office respectively.  Although the Press only comes three times a week.  The online version of the Press is a reproduction of the printed version, so I like that.  I find the WSJ website to be rubbish.

The Brothers K

Check this book out.

1996 Graduate of Calvin College University of Michigan fan nonetheless. Go Knights and Go Blue.
It's Friday I'm in Love

Except The Cure blows...

Play with passion I couldn't agree more. I've been saying for a couple of weeks that that is the missing ingredient for this team. They were never going to be great, but we wouldn't be sweating a Tourney appearance if they had more heart.
Laughing after missed layup When Irvin went to the bench and appeared to be chuckling after his pathetic missed layup, which was preceded by Walton's pathetic missed layup, I officially checked out on this team. In response to other question, I'd rather make NCAA and lose in first round than make NIT.
Protestants v Catholics

I ran track too, but not the 300 hurdles and couldn't tell you how we did against HCC.  I guess it wasn't as meaningful to me as bball.  Congrats on the great race!

Were you at the game I mentioned?  It was the loudest I've ever heard a gym.  Even though it was at your place, the bleachers were about evenly filled by both teams' fans.

played against Crawford his sophomore and junior years

I played for Kalamazoo Christian HS and we played Comstock on our non-conference schedule.  We beat them his sophomore year (my junior) and lost to them my senior year.  I've often commented that he's the best player I ever played against (and the only one to hold me scoreless, ouch!).

21 point comeback

My junior year at Kalamazoo Christian we were matched up against Hackett Catholic Central, our arch rival, in Jan. of 1991.  We were down 17 at halftime and by 21 midway through the thrid quarter.  Suddenly the tide turned and we got our press really working and hit some threes and ultimately sent the game to OT.  We won going away in OT as they had their spirits broken.  They had won round one on a buzzer-beater, so to win the second matchup (at their place, no less) was sweet.  We later beat them in the distric finals and advanced all the way to state quarterfinals.  Ah, the glory days!

"decent to very good"

I'd say your alma mater fell into the "very good" category!  Go East!

Beilein uber alles Great road win, team developing and improving. The criticism of Coach Beilein that occurs periodically on this blog mystifies me.
1993

The Fugitive came out in '93.

First shocked and then philosphical My oldest son and I were in the car on the way to a prior commitment during the final minutes of the game, so we had to listen on the radio. Right after it happened we both sat in stunned silence for a few seconds and then briefly vented. But after a minute I said to him, "well, you'll never forget this moment" and we both kind of laughed. I feel I've taken this one better than '94 Colorado and App St, but I'm still too emotionally invested in this whole thing. Anyway, thanks to OP and to the support group that this blog can be.
Could the altitude have contributed?

Could the higher altitude have contributed to the overthrows?

Sorry for double post, I guess I REALLY wanted an answer...

Could the altitude have contributed?

Could the higher altitude have contributed to the overthrows?

Could the higher altitude have contributed?

Was the higher altitude a contributer to the overthrows?

Redd's Apple Ale And as stated above, the Buick commercials
JB The next poster to ever criticize Beilein needs to be slapped, hard.
MMB I've always loved the connection of the band to the football team, pageantry and all that, but now that my ninth grade son is in the marching band I have a greater appreciation. Thanks for the clip of the drumline. Also, time to get your lemon on.
My then 13 year-old son went My then 13 year-old son went last summer. It was great and very well run. Beilein was there everyday.
Go Knights

Too bad that play wasn't against Hope.

Calvin Class of '96

Wait I thought Morris was starting.
Beilein once again shows superiority Switching to the 1-3-1 changed the course of that game. Careless turnover at the end made me nervous!
I hope come March this will viewed as a good loss I'll be rooting for ISU in the Big 12, but thought their fans were losers when then stormed the floor and that was before I learned what they were chanting about McGary. How will this board react if Borges isn't fired?!? I actually hope he's given one more year.
77-71 Wolverines 77-71 Wolverines
I do I do
Agreed I read the article in SI about last year's Auburn team and how the staff lost the players and was concerned we were in the same boat. I think today proved otherwise. They're still fighting to win games and improve.
This ranks as one Of my favorite wins. You can call it lucky or ugly, but they showed improvement and moxie. Hopefully we beat IA and pull off the upset in The Game!
