It seems much more of an expert judgement proccess than a scientific one.

I wonder how many of the folks that so strongly dislike Brandon are season ticketholders? It seems football ticket prices and gameday experience are what fuel most of the haters.
As an alum from further away, my single ticket game day experience already costs hundreds of dollars between air-fare and hotel, the actual ticket price has been and continues to be a small portion of the total cost of my game day experience, so I bear almost none of what others see as troubling. I on the other hand like to brag about anything good about Michigan, so I do appreciate improvement in no -revenue sports (and for tge record, attended track and gymnastics meets as well as football, basketball and hockey games when I was a student).
From my vantage point, I think Brandon is a significantly better AD than Martin - the way he handled the first football coaching search is in my mind much worse than anything Brandon has ever done.
|1 week 6 days ago||Martin, Molk, Van Bergen and Hemmingway had nothing to do with||
Also, Rich's recruits after 4 years. Lets see how hoke does this year when he's had roughly the same amount of opportubity to recruit(and actually less, as he had significantly less opportunity in the transition year)
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Don't think he was much larger||
She was a 5'9" gaurd, he was a 5'9" d-back.

1. Changing the name represents the pussification of America
What exactly are the arguments for keeping the name?
I haven't heard one argument that trumps:
|8 weeks 3 days ago||If we can beat ND and MSU away||
You really only see us winning 8?
|8 weeks 4 days ago||Recruiting actually is important||
Really wasn't trying to make this about RR or Carr, but I find it ridiculous to credit all of Hoke's 2011 season to RR's players. A new coach can't retain players if they aren't there in the first place. Look at what Carr at least partially contributed to 2011, vs what RR is contibuting to 2014.
- top 5 from RR in 2014
- top 5 from RR
|8 weeks 4 days ago||Carr's pkayers too||
I think, Molk, Martin, Van Bergen, Hemmingway, Koger, Hugye and Henninger may have had something to do with it too.
|8 weeks 5 days ago||Wasn't Magnuson also hurt most of last year?||
I' hopeful that a healthy Magnuson, playing in position will show significant improvement.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||Guess my reply was kinda dickish then||
Should it have been obvious?
|9 weeks 6 days ago||I am sure you meant to post that on the Faux News website?||
Not Mgoblog, cause I believe there is a no politics rule?
|12 weeks 3 days ago||Appreciate all the effort you are putting in Brandon||
Would be great if an offer list was added to the useful stuff with links to all of the profiles you've been doing.
|14 weeks 1 day ago||Do you really tzhink he's watching it to learn the basics?||
You can't be serious. The offensive coordinator for Alabama is now the offensive coordinator for Michigan. Where better to see the specifics (not the basics) of what Nuss wants his offense to do? Do you really see no value in sitting down with your offensive linemen and making points to them from film of what is likely to be the closest thing you'll find to what they will be doing next yesr? If so, doesn't it make sense to watch that film yourself first to pick out the examples that are best for teaching?
It boggles my mind that with all of the legitimate reasons to be concerned about the o-line, this has somehow become one.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||Thank you||
Why are people freaked out that Funk watched Alabama tape? I'd be freaked out if he didn't.
|14 weeks 3 days ago||Re-read your reply #2||
Then explain to me how Much better you are than me at repsecting dissenting opinions.
Then, read your entire post and wonder who is taking who's post to personally.
My dissenting opinion - which you are obviosly free to disagree with, is that on offense, the biggest issue has not been player development, it has been an offensive coordinator who did not know how to get the most out of his players.
Frank Clark was a three star who we picked up on signing day, not some super highly rated recruit. Dymonte was a true freshman. Pupkins was another guy who probably would have done well with a redshirt
The "failures" in terms of player development are so glaring because for this team to succeed, these players have to succeed. They are generally not being forced to beat out upperclassmen who are better, because particularly on the o-line and d-line, there are no upperclassmen (better or not).
|14 weeks 3 days ago||I thought he played better in the end of the year||
He certainly cut way down on turnovers,.
|14 weeks 3 days ago||Maybe we should reserve judgement on Heitzman?||
The guy just converted to tight end, maybe he will surprise. Doesn't he deserve a cance before we decide that he's not gonna be any good?
|14 weeks 3 days ago||Great insight (s)||
Because at TE
None of our other players have improved either
Why the hell am I even reading a Michigan sports blog. The football team sucks and it will always suck. There is less than zero chance that bringing in a new offensive coordinator who has been successful everywhere he's coached could possibly succeed here. That Mattison, totally washed up, 2011 was definately a fluke. None of our players are possibly going to improve over last year.
Oh, and I forgot to mention the recruiting. We've already seen that Cole and Canteen just suck and that Peppers guy - way over-rated.
I gotta go find a good Indiana football blog that I can spend time on.
|18 weeks 6 min ago||He did spend 6 years as a sports statistician||
Granted focusing on baseball, but I think the fact that he's been highly successful at doing projections and statistical analysis for topics as baseball and politics might earn him the benefit of the doubt on being more qualified than most.
|18 weeks 9 hours ago||Where does hecall him the best tourney coach in the country||
Both is data and Chait's agree that Izzo is quite successful in the tourney.
|18 weeks 11 hours ago||Or - Jonathon Chait goes on crazy rant that makes little sense||
Silver gave MSU a 6 percent chance of winning the tournament and his model doesn't have an Izzo factor. How did Chait take Silver down?
|19 weeks 2 days ago||I'm confused||
The only way to argue that he should have won it twice is to argue that making most with least should be the criteria in 2011 and doing best should be criteria in 2014. If you are ok with that, it seems harder to argue that he was robbed if the criteria are applied in the opposite way.
|19 weeks 3 days ago||But your points weren't part of his argument||
If he'd argued that:
It would be a much better argument. I'm not arguing that he isn't deserving of consideration, I'm just suggesting that the argument put forth was pretty lame. Yours, probably written in at most, a couple of minutes, was much better.
|19 weeks 3 days ago||Robbed once||
If he wins this year, why was he robbed in 2011? If he loses this year, he was either robbed in 2011 because different criteria were used in 2011 and 2014, or he was robbed this year because different criteria were used, He wasn't robbed both years.
|19 weeks 3 days ago||So, if I understand the argument||
The adversity that Miles overcame was doing a crappy job of recruitng, a big part of his job. The adversity that Beilein overcame was losing his best player to injury.
Therefore the coach that screwed up one part of his job, but overcame it to finish fourth did a better job than the coach who did all parts of his job well, overcame a significant injury to a key player and then won the conference by a wide margin.
Seems like a solid argument to me.
|20 weeks 6 days ago||Loved his comment re: my job||
Is to put the o-line in the position to succeed.
|21 weeks 1 day ago||Can't wait to hear why this is a bad thing||
Had to push Gardner to come back to soon because Shane is a flop? Oh no, Shane won't get enough reps now? How is Nuss possibly going to find time to coach three qb's? (S)
|21 weeks 1 day ago||Nothing against Brian||
But I think I'll trust Mattison's instincts on this one.
|21 weeks 1 day ago||I don't understand||
It seems like you are saying that change in reaction to rhings not working is reactionary and therefore bad? Is it better to not react?
