|2 days 4 hours ago||We didn't have a coach.||
You know that's when that happened, right? One-sided is exactly what I would call DI football scholarships. It's decidely the other way though.
|2 days 4 hours ago||Yep.||
A recruit can do whatever the hell he wants. It's the biggest deciscion these kids have ever made. A few of their lives depend on it and many more lives are greatly altered by making the right one. Coaches are multimillionaires with highly glorified jobs and 85 scholarship athletes.
Plus, most of the signing day drama isn't dramatic for the coaches.
|2 days 4 hours ago||What are they selling these||
What are they selling these recruits on? Probably a pretty rare combination of athletics and academics. The kid took what he thought was a good faith aggrement that if he kept his nose clean and grades up, then he could go to Michigan.
I wouldn't like it. I'd get over it. HOWEVA, I also wouldn't be saying "Who care? HARBAUGH!" Just me?
|2 days 4 hours ago||Kid committed to UofM when he||
Kid committed to UofM when he got an offer. He stayed publicly committed through this last miserable season and when the coach he committed to got fired. A lot of the above posts seem kinda off.
I think context is important here and we don't have much. If it was anything other than "We're going to continue to recruit another QB in your class because we want 2 QBs in your class," then I don't like this. Being scared off (e.g. LAYING DOWN THE LAW) and calling 'take-backs' (We didn't offer. Hoke did.) are not a good look to me. I don't know what happened, but I'm not willing to say, "Who cares? We're hot now."
|2 days 4 hours ago||Do you know this?||
Just asking if you have other info that's not in this thread. I dont know what the converstaion was. I imagine it could've gone the same way the Brandon 'resignation' went.

why wasn't this in the thread?
|1 week 2 days ago||I agree.||
And lot less moving the ball around the perimeter needlessly. The offense moved more away from the pick-and-roll tonight, which the team wasn't great at this year, and relied on motion with a few other set plays. It obviously wasn't a huge success but did well enough. Doyle was really struggling with the sick and it will probably look better when he and Spike are healthy.

He hasn't played to your praise and gets shut down often.. Why don't you hold off a bit?
|2 weeks 1 day ago||He didn't play well. Was||
He didn't play well. Was lazy and got benched for it. WTF! Players off the bench made up ground. When LeVert got put in nothing.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||He played well last year. He||
He played well last year. He has not performed up to not unrealistic expectations. Please defend his play against OSU.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||How are you the mother of||
How are you the mother of Caris LeVert and Jon Horford? The only people telling Jon Horford that he is an NBA prospect are his family.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Lottery?||
That's not lottery and not guaranteed 1st round. Caris hasn't played well this year. Why so intent on his draft stock when he's not producing on the college level?
|2 weeks 1 day ago||.241||
You know that he's shooting below 25% from 3 in college this season and you think that will get better with an NBA line? He's not an NBA PF.. He just isn't.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Okay Mom.||
Wake UP! 29th on Chad Ford's big board with this:
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Matbaugh personal attack||
This guy is intolerant to criticism against LeVert. I don't really understand it, but he compared him to Barry Sanders, Brandon Graham, Denard, Trey and Nik. He's not right.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Really?||
Horford is not a good player. He would've gotten some minutes but Doyle is better. McGary was a beast and would've defintel helped.
You've previously stated that Jon Horford would be in the NBA. Anyone backing that up?
|2 weeks 5 days ago||You said they were just his||
You said they were just his bad games. I didn't. The comments were only from his play on offense. Why this comparison to Stauskas?
|2 weeks 5 days ago||That's 10 out of 15 games this||
That's actually from 10 out of 15 games this season (It got messed up when I pasted it from Word). 9 are bad. They were out of context, but in line with my criticism. Go ahead then and prove to me that my original post was so far off base and don't use last years stats.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Ad hominem and straw men will get you everywhere.||
I certainly was not any of those guys. Thanks though. Didn't miss anything.
This has gone on too long. Michigan won today. I'm happy.
EDIT: I guess I couldn't let it go because it's really what I've seen this season. Caris will be a fine basketball player and representative of my university. I'm not going to make your argument for you. Here are some selected quotes from UMhoops game recaps this season (each is a separate game and the last one is from game 1,):
|2 weeks 5 days ago||I realize that.||
That's fine. Did you compare them at the same point in the season? Nope. A:T for Nik was 2.32 (51:22) through 3 games into the conference schedule. Ast% I don't know.
Zak isn't getting the the open transition 3s this year for whatever reason. 35% is an eFG% of ~52%, which is still okay and should get better.
Re: Last year's front line. If we just compare the 5's:
Horford, Morgan, Bielfeldt: 11 ppg and 10.3 rpg
Doyle, Donnal, Bielfeldt: 15.4 ppg and 7.6 rpg
Translates? I don't care about the NBA.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||I agree.||
I just read your comment above mine. I don't go to the open threads very much anymore. Almost never because everyone is way too histrionic. So I don't know the criticism you're talking about. This was on the front page, and I felt it was overly complimentary. Maybe it was just to balance the other stuff you mentioned.
More to the point on Caris. He's a good player and has had some great games. He has potential, which makes him attractive to the NBA. Do you think he's a better player than Nik, Trey, or Hardaway? He can't find open guys in transition. He takes bad shots and dribbles into bad spots routinely. I gave some stats above. I don't think his overall numbers this year are representative with his only games where he scored 20+ were Hillsdale, UD, Nicholls State and NJIT (I was working during that one and didn't search hard for a replay).
You said that he doesn't have anybody around him. He has 2 PGs that shoot the three really well and can get into the lane (just don't ask them to make a lay-up this season). He has Zak, who is usually pretty deadly from behind the line. He has guys on the frontline that were a lot more highly recruited than Morgan and Horford. The rest of the team admittedly has flaws, but they're not getting called a 'King' on the front page.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||double post. apologies.||
|2 weeks 5 days ago||I may be in the minority.||
I haven't been that impressed with Caris this season. He's been too inconsistent and mediocre for a big chunk of the season. In the 6 games prior to PSU he was 22-66 from the field and his assist:turnover was just above 1 (18:17).

I guess maybe I was that someone who linked it the day beofre this post. Fantastic job on expanding on it. Most in that thread were willing to just say "MONEY" and move on.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||When was he going to the NBA?||
He's tall and he plays ball, but how's he supposed to get a nice, fat NBA contract?
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Josh Smith||
He was +21 in +/- over 26 minutes tonight against Lebron-less Cavs. Don-don-don-don don-don-don-dodn... He still sucks.

9 points in 41 minutes of the last three games reason enough?

Did you miss the part where he wasn't retained by Sark? He was kinda unemployed.
EDIT: I was too late. See above.

Auburn, Florida and LSU have also won recent MNC... The ACC, B1G and Pac12 have won how many in that time? 1... I don't like them either, but don't say what you just said without something to back it up.
