This is so indicative of the…

This is so indicative of the state of the culture at OSU vs. Michigan.  Players want to stay, play, and win at OSU and they want to coast on 1 season of stats at Michigan to preserve their draft stock.

At some point we have to question not just the kids we recruit but the culture that coddles the players inside the program.

We will never beat OSU ever again until we want it more than them.  We haven't for the last 20 years.

Justin Fields will probably play every snap this season, yet he could have easily been a top 5 pick if he hired Drew Rosenhaus too.

That's correct.  They did the flu test (15 min results) and he tested positive for Flu A.  The question is...can he have both?  Covid test takes 48 hours for results.  I haven't seen it discussed anywhere if you can get the Flu AND Corona.

5 days if you stay in the city prosper is plenty...7-12 days if you want to explore the areas on the outskirts of Rome and/or head down the Amalfi Coast.  $5k will get you plenty in Rome for 5 days (really nice place to stay, all the food/drink you need, shopping, etc.) but it doesn't go as far in Amalfi.

Sneaky great place to visit down the coast is Naples...birth place of pizza.  Chaotic city, a little rough around the edges, but tons of fun, character and amazing food.  And you can check out the ruins at Pompeii/Mount Vesuvius close to Naples, which is a pretty crazy history lesson.  Or Capri, which is amazing island off the coast.

Do it!

Meandering around Rome is…

Meandering around Rome is definitely the way to go.  Make sure you have the main attractions in mind (Colosseum and Vatican are pretty far apart, on foot, for example), but the beauty of Rome is that there are ancient things to see around literally every corner.  I love the Pantheon and the area around there is great for walking, eating, coffee, spritz.  Make sure to see the Trevi Fountain because there are talks that Rome may eventually block the area from tourists altogether. Could be your last chance to see it.

Piazza Navona is beautiful.

Campo de Fiori is a fun place in the day time (flower market) and at night, a lively bar scene.

Make sure to check out Trastevere...the old city.  Beautiful, narrow old streets (Basilica d Santa Maria in a good landmark) and tons of places to eat.

It's my favorite city in the world.  You will not be disappointed!!

Me too.  My wife gives me a lot of flak when I spend the time watching and they don't win...like I should have been doing something more productive with the last 2.5 hours of my life.

And before you say anything, don't worry, I've already contacted the appropriate lawyer.

I wouldn't mind Lincoln…

I wouldn't mind Lincoln Riley at Michigan...

There's fandom and there's…

There's fandom and there's delusion...this is the latter.

Technically, we have seldom…

Technically, we have seldom won a big game as an underdog in the Harbaugh era (and really any time since 2006).  I wouldn't be so quick to write off the FPI in games against Penn State at night, Notre Dame and OSU.

I booked my 4 year old son…

I booked my 4 year old son in 12 weeks of swim class on Saturday mornings.  Watching the joy of him bomping around in the water, learning to do it on his own, makes for a much better use of time and brings me more joy than Michigan these days.

But as you said, it has been a huge part of my life almost all of my 35 years and I'm nearly incapable of completely detaching myself too.  Just have to remind myself that there are more important things and experiences...channel that passion into the most important things like family & friends, etc.

#25 is probably higher than…

#25 is probably higher than we deserve to be in football.  Hooray to playing school!

On a slightly unrelated note…

On a slightly unrelated note...can we talk about how overrated the Big 12 is?  Most projections have 8 Big 12 teams in the field, including a 16-14 Texas squad, Oklahoma with 10 conference losses so far, and TCU with 11 conference L's.  So many quality losses to be had in the Big 12.  smh

By that same math, the Big Ten should have at least 10 in the Tourney.

I'll have a problem with Texas making the tourney and Indiana missing it, assuming all else is equal to finish the season.

My prediction...Tennessee…

My prediction...Tennessee makes it 2 years in a row that a 1 seed loses to a 16 on the opening weekend of the tourney.  I call it the Rocky Top Horror Picture Show.

I respectfully disagree on

I respectfully disagree on the Florence > Rome sentiment.  In my opinion, Rome is the best city in the world (that I've visited).  There's this amazing and authentic vibrance in Rome, coupled with a New York-style of gruffness.  The city is bustling, but then you turn a corner, and you're on the quiet cobblestone street or in a tiny piazza walking by an ancient relic.  Stop for an espresso or a panini or a spritz and hop back into the action.

Rome is huge and you could spend weeks there without running out of things to do.  Florence just felt a bit too small for me, and with too many study-abroad students.  It felt more western than Italian, in my opinion.

That all said, Florence has something that Rome doesn't have...it's location in Tuscany.  Tuscany just offers so much...the food (inclu. truffles), the wine, the variety (Chianti, Siena, Lucca, Arezzo, Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Volterra, Pisa and the central coastal towns).

TMI I know...but just thought that Rome deserved a proper defense.  Also...in summary, Italy is the best.

It just means that Harbaugh is going to kill Gators on January 1st, just like Happy did!!

Reynolds and Mayfield

Reynolds and Mayfield absolutely deserved to be there.

Mayfield has better numbers than the last 2 Oklahoma QB's to WIN the Heisman.  And Reynolds was on another planet this year as well.

You can argue that what Derrick Henry did this year is the least impressive of the candidates, yet, he's probably going to win.

I'm hoping for McCaffrey now.

Wait, so I can't be a

Wait, so I can't be a Michigan fan AND a Lions fan?  My bad for wanting my favorite tight end in the NCAA to play for my hometown team.

If you're using the Ebron to

If you're using the Ebron to Lions math than absolutely.  I'd like to see Jake in Honolulu Blue.

I'm having my first kid soon, a boy, due Feb 4th.  NSD is Feb 3rd.

I'm most likely going to name him Gary Hardman if he arrives on 2/3, so hopefully that helps our chances.

I sure hope that David I sure hope that David Pollack doesn't stick around for much longer. He and Herbstreit seem to go at it from time to time, and I think Kirk will win out if he openly voices opposition to Pollack, to the ESPN suits. Pollack is a ridiculous homer, his opinions border on belligerent when someone else objects, and he really has no redeeming qualities. He's not likable or funny either. At least Dez is on the panel to counteract Pollack.

Haha, very nicely done.

Thanks for the heads up. Just Thanks for the heads up. Just booked a flight to Des Moines. Got a great deal and the honeymoon suite for a steal at the Hampton Inn.

Rooting priority is definitely:

1) Just win, Michigan!

2) Chaos everywhere else

3) Need OSU and Iowa to go undefeated, so our end-of-season wins look that much more impressive to the committee by comparison (think OSU's dismantling of Wisco in the B1G Champ last year)

A lot of big if's, but really makes for an exciting November.

So much less exciting than

It depends...give me your mesurables.  I need to know things like:

- How many throws do you complete to stangers across State St, during pre-game tailgates?

- What's your beer pong make %?

- Is your name Gary Nova?

- Do you eat steak and drink whole milk daily?

- Have you ever thrown a football with 110,000 people watching?

- How's your butt?

I think we were making

I think we were making similar comparisons during Chris Clark's recruitment.  He ended up everywhere other than Michigan.

Again, not apples to apples b/c there's obviously some real weird stuff going on with Clark, but this stat alone won't determine where Nauta plays next year.

Jabrill and Jourdan finish 1

Jabrill and Jourdan finish 1 and 2 in the Heisman votiing next year...Raback it.

I see those open receiver

I see those open receiver over-throws in my nightmares.  It's tough.  5 of them on the season, and if we connect on 1 or 2, we're definitely undefeated.

Growing up, watching the Michigan teams of the 90s and early 00s, I felt like we couldn't MISS a deep ball.  Every time it went up, you knew some hoss was going to come down with it or it was going to catch a receiver in-stride.

Now it's just...different.  We'll connect on a huge one against OSU and it'll be all gravy hopefully.

Yeah, I read it as First

Yeah, I read it as First Teeny All American.  Needs time to fill out his frame, NFL scouts.

Inevitable contrarian

Edit: Completely missed the point of the article the first time around.

This unnamed coach sounds like a sandbagging salesman - set the bar low, lower the goal, and then crush it for a big payday.
