And Nebraska appears to have…

And Nebraska appears to have put theirs on ours.  I too am a novice and am hoping that appearance isn't everything and a double top secret plan will save the day.

Me Too!

Thanks for the heads up!!  This would have been the worst Friday the 13th ever.

Decisive?

Maybe he should have been more decisive in choosing a college.

Fraser's Pub

Not downtown nor a ton of students there but legendary with a great atmosphere.

I have a Masters Degree . . .

IN SCIENCE!

See you there!!

Edit:  Guess I'm going twice.

See you there!!

Phone

Thankfully, I was able to refer to the MGoBlog app to fully appreciate this string.  (Although from the context it was kinda obvious.)  Now I can quit my job!!

Love Year 3

In his model, in Year 3, Michigan plays all 9 of the other teams that made up the Big 10 (when there were actually 10)!

The two are, afterall, mutually exclusive.

Veteran defensive tackle Damon Knox will not play for the Spartans in 2016 and has decided instead to pursue a career in law enforcement, the school announced on Friday afternoon.

In clam juice, no less

Get ready for some of that SEC medicine!

Likely N/A

Surely not relevant this year but in the late 70s: Education 598 - Student Participation, basically getting a two credit "A" for being in a student organization; and Psychology 481 - Psychology of International Relations, taught by a true believer communist (please excuse the politics) who had each student say something about mainland China while sitting outside ingesting various substances, oh, and we graded ourselves.

Ohio

Matta should drop out if he doesn't win Ohio.

History of England

While on the history theme, History of England (and its sister podcast History of Anglo Saxon England) is great.  Just the right balance of history and humor as well as a great way to pick up some new slang (e.g. the correct way to use "the rough end of the pineapple").

Color Palette

The Ukraine needs to tweak their Maize but, otherwise, an outstanding effort.

Ex

I guess my ex-wife who now lives in Vegas has far more influence than I ever imagined!

Official Visits

It was striking (while not surprising) that most said their favorite experience had to do with taking their official visits, meeting coaches, travelling, etc.  This puts me slightly (but only slightly) more at ease when notable recruits who cite Michigan as their favorite visit other schools.

1973 Triumph Spitfire Mark IV

A little cold driving it in a Michigan January but it couldn't be beat with the top down on a beautiful summer day!  Sadly, mine wasn't British Racing Green but you get the idea.

Cool Story Bro

Met him at my daughter's parent teacher elementary school conference when he played for the Lions.  Word was out that his daughter was in the class and it was the first such conference with 100% participation from dads.  Needless to say, this was before the night of the interceptions.

Voted!

By computer and phone.  JP up by approx. 750!

Wedding! That was the first game I missed since my freshman year in 1977 . . . due to my wedding to a fellow Wolverine!' She sadly insisted on the timing for too many reasons to list here. I had the tickets in my tuxedo pocket just in case things went south. Needless to say, the marriage was doomed from the start and ended a few years thereafter.
And . . .

Minnesota in 1977 and Purdue in 1979.   The above post did, afterall, reference the last 50 years and I remember those two games as being particluarly painful.

Woody Pontiac

Maybe not one of the "best" but certainly nostalgic for those of us who watched Michigan Replay in the 80s.

The Knowlege MGrowOld appears to be channeling The Knowledge and reporting on the future from the future.
No

I'm still adjusting to kickoffs at times other than 1:00.

Hey!  Is that someone on my lawn??  Excuse me, I have to go!!

Thanks - Great Analysis

I too am in the crowd who took Navarre to task for the team's performance.  After being a student during Leach's career and the success of the following years I innocently thought that during the Navarre years I was seeing the low point of Michigan football.  One thing I recall as standing out about Navarre was how many of his passes were batted down at the line.  Maybe I was just not very observant , but I didn't recall seeing this much, if ever, before and Navarre had what seemed like a couple/few every game.

Shit Band

In the later 70s, there was also the "Shit Band."  A small group of band members would go from section to section wearing their foul weather gear on even the sunniest days.  They would play a few notes in the direction of a part of the student section who would respond in unison with a resounding "SHIT"!   Da Da, Da Da, Da DA! . . . SHIT!   This would go back and forth three or four times and the band would move on to another section.  As noted above, there was much drinking, smoking and everything else going on in the student section at the time, but I really do think this happened.

Not anymore

There were games scheduled but Alabama backed out.

Mustard?

Maybe the traditional is not so much orange as it is a mustard yellow.  Regardless, certainly not neon.

7. Rick Leach to Jim Smith (1975-76)

Thanks!

Also just subscribed.  Thanks for the info OP!

I disagr . . . no . . . wait . . . agree!

As a relative old timer I was going to comment about the regular season being nothing more than to seed the teams playing for a national championship.  I understand that in today's sports world this has become the norm; however, I pine for the days when the Big Ten Championship was actually a thing and the focus of the season.  So much so that I recall referring to non-conference games as the preseason.

Then I read your second paragraph and agree completely.  There will be plenty of debate every year but the bowl games will be special (if less lucrative, which means not happening).

Finally, if something like the above ever happens I would be a big fan of our division and it could be called something more creative than East 3, perhaps the Big Ten of old.  And, swap Iowa State for Notre Dame just to piss them off.

This This
Hell you say!! You mean to tell me Michigan recruited one of the best classes in college basketball history without Nike or Adidas or Under Amour??!!
How long was this guy in college?

"Caleb Joshua Halley, who served as Chief Osceola from 2004-07 and graduated from the university in 2009."

Not to mention he was 34 at the time of the incident and probably didn't get the Chief O gig his freshman year.

Original Division

Twenty seems a little much; however, I would be thrilled to have an Original 10 Division and the Everybody Else Division.

Suit He wore a suit.
Not on the list

If I may be allowed to pick an event not on the list, watching my daughter graduate from Michigan on Saturday.  (Derby if that falls through)

Delta + Arcade

If my feeble mind isn't totally failing me, I think they were separate storefronts at the time with the Delta on the corner and the arcade next door.

Bad news

Detroit has a resident income tax as well as one for people who work in the city.   I believe its 2.5% for residents and half that for non-residents who work there.

Bursley My daughter is a freshman living in Bursley and they were ordered to the basement a while ago and still there. Although now there is a flood warning.
Dr. Strangelove

By the look on the faces of the audience, I think Dantonio just sprung from his wheelchair ala Dr. Strangelove.

Edit Meant to say the most underrated DRINK in the country. Apparently, my phone skills indicate that I am the most underrated drunk!
Pappy!

This fall's shipments began going out this week!

Bacardi Alexander

Rum and creme de cacao, probably the most underrated drunk in the country!

"Act"

They do more than "act" like criminals.  Ghoulston's only problem today is that he forgot he wasn't wearing a facemask and could be identified.

1978

For purely personal reasons.  It was my sophomore year and had lots of high school friends from MSU visit for the game.  Needless to say, I didn't get sober until Sunday night after they finally left.
