Keep Bits and Pieces

Continuing the Defensive UFR will be a good exercise for the year. You should dump the offensive one, but I would suggest at least tracking the shot chart if it is not too much effort. I'd be curious to see the trends during the year. Pairing the shot chart with some explained advanced metrics and key plays should provide guidance for people watching basketball and looking for something different information-wise.

Also, I'm glad to see you remembered scacchoops.com. I have noticed some issues with their possession statistic during games lately, though.

Space, Bitches, Space... Space, Bitches, Space...
Tempo Free Site I follow this for Tempo Free stats.
Remember It's college football. Almost anything can happen from week to week considering NW beat Iowa and Minnesota beat Illinois in Champaign. Enjoy the ride is all I can really say at this point.
DARKO!!! DARKO!!!
Sadly, I still think she was

Sadly, I still think she was better this year than the UM/IU game from last year...

And by better, I poked by eyes and ears out by the 3rd quarter instead of the 2nd.

Yes, it was an individual

Yes, it was an individual question that would have gotten lost in the afternoon thread. But, I should have been more understanding of a drunk MGoBlog board after a win...

sorry to all. Posted the

sorry to all. Posted the Mallet question to another thread (even though I think it belongs there...).

Arkansas is the perfect team to expose the young defensive seconday of Alabama. The Crimson Tide will still excel, but it's a good matchup for the Razorbacks.

Now, for UCLA beating Texas...I can't explain that...

Te'o is a good athlete, but

Te'o is a good athlete, but he overcommits to everything. A counter based team like Stanford will eat him alive until he learns discipline.

um, no. He's a NT. He's

um, no. He's a NT. He's always been a DL, and the OL is quite fine for the next few years. Pay Attention.

I was reading through the comments and I said the exact same thing to my drunken self right before I read your comment. Kudos to you, my friend.

Seriously, did you just

Seriously, did you just respond to your own comment. I admit, there are stupid people that are loving on a 2nd string vs a first string, but give the kid credit for taking a game that was in question and putting it away without assuming that the people supporting him are negative to the starting QB.

I count 18

Looking at the Depth Chart, I count 18 available scholarships available if one is allocated each to Grady, Leach, and Kovacs and Woolfolk gets another year.

If a scholarship is not provided to each of the walk-ons (Grady, Leach, Kovacs), then I count 21 available.

DC Bars

I've not noticed any true M Bars in DC.

I currently live in Centreville which is a bit West of the city, and there is a Velocity 5 there that I would not mind creating a pro-UM atmosphere. It was empty this past Saturday, and I'm sure a little business would make them happy as well.

Mini Juice Now at Illinois

In true Zooker fashion, this Sheelhaan (sp?) kid at Illinois is like a Juice Williams with a shorter skill set. On 1st and 10 he throws into double coverage right into the hands of a Missouri Safety.

Looks like that MSU turnover people are calling for is happening in St Louis right now...

EDIT: Scheelhaas is the name

LET'S GO BLUE!!

LET'S GO BLUE!!

Joe, What's your opinion of the first half?

weeeeelllllll, we gotta run the ball but Youngstown is playing pretty good and I'm not totally sure where I am anymore or if this Young something team is playing...Wait, gotta go.

except Iowa is tearing up

except Iowa is tearing up Eastern Illinois and Illinois actually has a lead against Missouri.

Sparty No Contagious

I didn't know that a SPARTY NO! was contagious...

Ill v Mizzou

Illinois slowly moving the ball against Missouri. Although, they still can't throw the ball.

The Huskers are invading

I see it didn't take long for the Cornhusker fans to find, in the least, the mgoblog board.

Welcome! :)

excellent analysis

Very, very interesting way to look at offensive trends over years. I'd like to see something similar done for the defense in yards against per play as well? I am wondering if we could see similar trends.

agreed, but the knee jerk agreed, but the knee jerk reaction is just too entertaining :)
so mad. I reserve the right so mad. I reserve the right to piss and moan about referees for at least 6 months after this...
I don't think that is a I don't think that is a number that you really want to know...
I want to know what Red told I want to know what Red told these kids after the 3rd Period. I have a feeling he sacrificed a GA to something...
50 saves, are you kidding 50 saves, are you kidding me?!?
Thank you.
I'm an Albion Grad
Thank you. I'm an Albion Grad as well, and I was confused where the hockey team came from. Although, I have to admit, no one I've met has ever confused Albion with Adrian. I guess I'm just lucky.
According to the NCAA, if a According to the NCAA, if a major violation occurs within 5 years of the punishment of another one, then the repeat offender provision can be instituted.
ESPN At least ESPN got it right with their headline: "NCAA finds Michigan was not in compliance" http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4938956
international investigation? My favorite is the typo that there is an "international investigation" going on instead of an internal one. Looks like the News was in a rush to get this one online.
Rich Rod Cover Letter If you take a look at the full reports and the Rich Rod cover letter, you will see that everything is construed as a major violation unless the committee determines it is a secondary violation. NOAcover_022210_Michigan_RRodriguez.pdf Page 3 > Paragraph 3
You should understand that all of the allegations charged in the notice of allegations are considered to be potential major violations of NCAA legislation, unless designated as secondary violations..."
Over I'm feeling three for some reason.
Actually... Actually, I think this qualifies more as an OMG PANTLESS recruit.
Ah, Brighton Ah, how I don't miss my hometown sometimes. Although, it is not surprising. There always seems to be a overabundance of knee-jerk reactions that occur in Brighton from time to time. In fact, if anyone remembers the show 30 days, there is an somewhat embarrassing portrayal of Brighton (and Howell) at the 35 minute point of the episode. The video is long so I won't embed, but here is a link: http://www.videosift.com/video/30-Days-As-A-Muslim-44mins
Completely agree with the Double Post, ignore this one.
Completely agree with the Completely agree with the tackling comment. Good CF, perfect form tackles, and pretty good instincts. He is a little stiff and I noticed that on run support he does get sucked into the middle a bit. Solid reaction to make the tackles, but a better back could burn the corner and trap him. Still, his potential looks better than any other deep safety M have on the roster right now.
Oops, I guess life has Oops, I guess life has changed since I went to school. My apologies. Disregard my ignorance.
The state of Michigan is one The state of Michigan is one of the few states that requires ACT for its scores. Most other states require the SAT instead. That said, who knows if he will qualify based on SAT scores either.
I vote lame. I vote lame.
Gotta love the distribution Gotta love the distribution tonight. Mich A/TO: 2.8 A/FGM: 78.6% Granted, they haven't made many shots, but the ones that are made have been set up nicely.
Drunk college kids in hamster Drunk college kids in hamster balls is always entertaining.
how are those 3s treating you how are those 3s treating you now. There is a time and a place for it, and a good three will lead to a better eFG% which has been shown to be a truer measure of a team's shooting performance. It's all about selection, and the past two or three have been spot on.
New drinking game rule Every time Novak is referred to as the following take a drink: Feisty Gamer Gritty etc
Ugly Offense It is an ugly offensive game. Both team Off Efficiency are under 90 at the half. MSU = 80.6 and UM = 89.4 State turning the ball over on 35% of possessions. Michigan eFG% of 32.3. It'll be interesting to see if Michigan can get a few more shots to fall and if MSU can break the 1-3-1 a bit better.
I imagine it has something to I imagine it has something to do with two things: Michigan State's size MSU's quickness in getting out after a missed FT. They score a lot by pushing after a miss.
Double Standard However, I never thought Harris should have been ejected last year, so I do not think Lucas should be ejected for his.
This is the best I've seen This is the best I've seen the 1-3-1 all year. It's actually extending state out and that is where it's effective. It looks Mich has gotten away with a few calls so far. EDIT: n/m. Right as I wrote that, the And 1 in the lane... Boooo!
Down an Official An official walked off to the locker room hurt. Looked like it tweaked at random. Who knows what's going to happen with the officiating now...
