Right! All we can do is bring in great players and hope the coaches coach them up. We are definitely bringing in the players. So let's just see what happens. We can be a great team again!

I'm 100% on board with your post. I dont understand all the nagativity either.
The BWW bowl selected us BEFORE Nebraska in the Gator. You can say what ever you want about playing on NYD against an SEC team, but we've been there several times in the past 15 years and honestly I'm ready for a change. If you're not in a BCS bowl, there really isn't a huge difference between the rest. And I want to WIN!!
Also, the Big Ten bowl schedule on NYD is horrible, with 4 games starting at 12pm or 1pm, Plus you're competing with the Rose Bowl and everything else on NYD. Playing on the 28th is fine with me. It's a Saturday night, and who cares that it's a little late. It's primetime for the entire West Coast and not THAT late for East, especially on a Saturday night.
I'm really excited for this game, and I hope the team is too! Because I want us to play well, win, and build some momentum headining into 2014!!

Can someone remind my of the Big Ten bowl selection order?
Something like this right?
Big #1 >>> Rose Bowl (MSU)
Big #2 >>> Orange Bowl (OSU as BCS at-large)
Big #3 >>> Capital One Bowl (Wisconsin)
Big #4 >>> Outback Bowl (Iowa)
Big #5 >>> BWW Bowl (Michigan)
Big #6 >>> Gator (Nebraska)
Big #7 >>> Texas? (Minnesota)
Am I missing anything?

I really hope that the team is more excited than most of you are. If they have that attitude we are going to get the crap kicked out of us.
|14 hours 41 min ago||You know that Michigan also||
You know that Michigan also recruits on the west coast right? It's not THAT late. And it's a Saturday night!!
|14 hours 43 min ago||You forgot that it is a||
You forgot that it is a January 1st game that is one of 6 others that day. I'm pretty sure 4 big ten bowls all start at the same exact time. I'll take a Saturday night game, even if it starts an hour or two later than I would have liked.

I don't know about and asterisk, but it must suck to go 24-1 and have no MNCs, B1G titles, or bowl wins (yet) to show for it.

Sports are definitely weird. If Ohio State and MSU played again on a neutral site next week, OSU may still be favored. But that's how it works. Bama may be the "better" team than Auburn. But Auburn beat them and that's all that matters. The best measure we have is head-to-head, even if one team is at home. It will be FSU-Auburn in the MNC. I am 100000000000000000% positive of that, and honestly I can't argue with the BCS on this one.

So I think we're saying the same thing then. We both love Michigan and that love is not determined by the success of the athletics teams.
Where we disagree is how we feel about these these positive / hollow "platitudes" as you described them. I tend to find them helpful because they help give perspective. You think they are hollow, and they do nothing for you. I'm really glad you came in here to rain on our parade and tell all of us that it does help that we are silly for feeling that way.
|1 day 19 hours ago||Wait, so every year that we||
Wait, so every year that we don't with the Big Ten is unacceptable and therefore a failure?
How many season has Michigan played football? 134 right? And how many Big Ten titles do we have?
I never realized how big of a failure our program was...
|1 day 20 hours ago||I know it was against a bad||
I know it was against a bad opponent, but the team did have a great look today both in terms of performance and in terms of demeanor. Hopefully that bodes we for the Arizona game. If we can pull if that upset (over what will be the #1 team on Monday), the schedule sets up for a 7-8 game winning streak leading up to a road game at Wisconsin. Here's hoping!!

I can't believe the lack of perspective some people have. What the OP is trying to say is that the greatness of the University of Michigan is about more than the football team!! Or any one thing. I don't get how that is so hard to understand.
|1 day 20 hours ago||I guess it means that||
I guess it means that Michigan sports (ie football and basketball) determine how you feel about the university as a whole. You asked, and based on your comment that is what I think.

Nope! I'll never stop dreaming! EVAR!

Like most things recruiting, I'll just take a wait and see approach with this. All I care about is getting his LOI on Signing Day. What happens between now and then, I'm not going to worry about.

My wife really likes Riesling too, as well as Pinot Gris. We drink King Estate mostly, which is a vinyard near our place in Eugene, OR.
I think they're alright, but as I started getting into more bitter beers (IPAs mostly) I noticed that those types of wines started tasting really sweet to me. I don't drink wine all that often, but I think may pallette has started moving more toward reds and dry whites. At the end of the day though, I'm just a really big fan of alcohol in general!

Deschutes "Jubelale" and 10 Barrel "Pray for Snow" are my choices for the night. Both out of Bend, Oregon.
We live in Eugene, and we got around 8 inches of snow today, which is very rare for the Willamette Valley. I braved the elements to pick up a few sixers, and I'm currently watching the MAC Championship. Not a bad night!

Also, its incredible how the power has shifted in the conference over just a few short years. Next year, the South is looking like the stronger division with ASU, UCLA, USC, and even Arizona.
In the North, Stanford loses a ton of starters. Oregon will be good again, but after them there is not much depth. Assuming Stanford takes a step back, who is the second best team in the North? Maybe Washington? WSU? OSU? Lots of meh there.

I wonder how much of Alabama's class would just flip to Texas though. I know they say kids commit to the school, not the coach, but in all honestly those kids are committed to the University of Saban. Would be extremely interesting.

Funchess did have at least one drop in the Ohio State game that I can remember. The announcers even brought up the Iowa game because of that drop. There was also a play where Funchess didnt turn to look for the ball early enough after Gardner was pressured. I'm not placing blame on Funchess, but he is not who I would turn to for that conversion. Gallon would be my first choice, followed by Gardner running, and then probably Dileo.
But the reason I think that a jump ball type pass would have resulted in more criticism is because it is a low percentage play. Ask Oregon what they think about fade routes and jump balls on 4th down. I live in Eugene, and they have been going nuts out here about a few 4th down conversion attempts that failed because the QB threw a fade route out of the endzone, not even giving his team a chance.
I guess my point is that if we had throw the jump ball and it worked, everyone would be thrilled and think its a great call. Just like the call we made would have been great if it had been converted. But if we had thrown the jump ball to Funchess and he dropped it, people would be saying we should have known better than to go to Funchess. And if Gardner had over / under thrown it we would either be screaming at Gardner or saying that Borges put him in a position to fail with a low % playcall. It's just the nature of hindsight after a heartbreaking loss on the last play.

Listen, prior to his TD, how many passes had Funchess dropped the past few weeks?

You keep saying moral victories are worth ZERO. But what is your point?
|1 week 19 hours ago||This exactly! Maybe the call||
This exactly! Maybe the call wasn't great and maybe we should have changed it after the timeout. Maybe we did? Ever think if that? Maybe the original call was a different play out if the same formation.
