"The face of the operation is Briatore (referred to exclusively in the film by his colleagues and angry, chanting detractors as "Flavio"), an anthropomorphic radish who spends most of his time at QPR plotting to fire all of the managers."

Do you sense any of this has changed since Nadella took over? For example, I know their Phone & Devices (zune, surface, WP OS, etc) divisions, have been consoladated into a single division. Also their stack ranking benchmarks (google it) have supposively been eliminated, which should help improve their culture, though cultural changes can take awhile. I think Amazon still uses stack ranking, and hear even worse things about their corporate culture (everyone hates working there).

Supposedly, they plan on doing continual updates (ie, you won't have to wait for SP1 6 months from now), so hopefully any remaining major bugs gets quickly ironed out.

I've never owned a Mac, but I think a lot of Windows folks tend to focus on the specs and ignore that customer satisfaction is almost universally much higher among Macbook owners than even most modern PC ultrabooks (with, perhaps, a few exceptions). Performance is still very good on Macbooks, even relative to high-end ultrabooks. Obviously, they make you pay a premium to live in the Apple ecosystem, but most Apple customers seem to be very happy to live in that ecosystem.

It's interesting that Harbaugh gave all 5th year's the opportunity to audition in the spring, as opposed to telling some of them they would not be given a 5th year scholarship before NLI signing day. I suppose the result was more or less the same as dropping some guys individually.

Yup, my bro had like a 3.99 and 35 ACT, and was either denied admission to UNC or put on their wait list (can't remember exactly). This was back in 1995ish. Pretty sure he was going UM regardless though.

I'm pretty sure head-to-head was the 1st tiebreaker back then, but Wisconsin and OSU tied at Camp Randall that year (thanks to OSU blocking a last second FG attempt...shakes fist..was Wisconsin fan growing up).

This is just part of what we get with Harbaugh. He's going to be an unreasonable dick sometimes, though I don't particularly care if he's only an ass to the Cowherd's of the world.

It's mentioned in one of the ESPN articles that the UM docs diagnosed Pipkins with arthritis in his knee. That's kinda a key point that makes it much more difficult to paint Harbaugh in a bad light.

Baker was much better than any running back Hoke or RR landed. Maybe Caper too.

I like Zingerman's Roadhouse, but they bury their brisket in sauce. It's more like braised brisket, instead of BBQ (though they do smoke it for hours).

Satchel's is decent, but their brisket is often dry. Blue Tractor is mediocre. There's a place in Saline that has great Yelp reviews, but I've never tried it (Saline Downtown Diner).
Driving to Detroit for Slow's might be your best option if you want really good brisket.

I did a cursory check before posting. If it was, it was buried under a different Hackett/Regent post, and this deserves a separate thread anyway. I was surprised it hadn't been posted already, so I'm not surprised if it's been discussed in a separate thread.

|7 weeks 4 days ago||I don't see where he said||
I don't see where he said that Harbaugh setup the camp for the benefit of a single player, but he is trying WAY too hard. Few Michigan fans will deny that Harbaugh is primarily doing these camps to scout players and connect with recruits, but there is a teaching element to the camps that is beneficial to the players. And they're being pretty transparent about their motives when they brand the Ann Arbor camp as "Exposure U".
But I guess since these camps benefit Michigan's recruiting, they're pure evil. That's some solid logic.

|9 weeks 1 day ago||Like you said, I doubt they||
Like you said, I doubt they boycott 2018, though they have good reason to.
They should start planning for the alternate 2022 cup immediately. I wrote earlier that I didn't think it would happen, but that was before I read that UEFA's head has already made this threat. I think it probably WILL happen. UEFA + the US boycotting Qatar = FIFAs dead, and why wouldn't they want to take this opportunity to kill FIFA and create a new organization that's much more favorable to their federations?
|9 weeks 1 day ago||A scenario that should play||
A scenario that should play out, but almost certainly will not, is the EPL and the other major European leagues saying they will not postpone their league for the 2022 WC. UEFA would then start organizing their own WC for the summer of 2022 (in either US or England). And due to the threat of the European leagues not paying athletes that play in Qatar, the big South American countries would be under serious pressure, and if they pulled out of Qatar, then FIFA is toast. Well, even if just UEFA pulls out they're toast, but it would be a slower death.
Obviously, that's a dream scenario that will never happen.
|9 weeks 1 day ago||They would make a TON more||
They would make a TON more money if the 2022 WC is hosted by the US or Austrailia. Qatar is going to be a disaster. Sponsers are going to bail, some top players may too, and attendance will suck. But a bunch of guys from places like Togo and T&T got PAID, so they get Qatar and the freaking embarrassment that those games will be.

That is the trump card they need to start threatening to play if they do not want to be ruled by a bunch of cleptocrats from a zillion rinky dink nations.

You missed one. Stony Lake Brewing should open in Saline this summer:
I know the owner of Stony Lake and one of the owners of Salt Springs. Good folks, and I suspect they'll both do quite well. Despite both being breweries, their businesses are going to be quite different, so they both should be able to survive in Saline.

$4M is about 3% of the AD's current revenue? 0% chance they pass on that kind of dough. OTOH, I'm highly skeptical of that number. $4M seems totally out of whack.

|11 weeks 3 days ago||Since the CFB title game is||
Since the CFB title game is now after the holiday season, weather and tourist attractions should not play a larger role than it does in the selection of Super Bowl locations. Most people will only fly in for the weekend, and there's now plenty of things for people to do in and around Detroit for 2 or 3 days. I would expect a midwest venue (Minny, Indy or Detroit) to get the game every 4 or 5 years, so I'd expect FF to host the title game in the next decade or so.

I've read Moz's autobiography. It is very entertaining and weird. Morrissey seemingly is intent on burning every last bridge that he has. He seems like a very nasty individual.
