“The player development is the main thing I like (about Michigan),” Williams said. “You can see that they develop their players. They get them in the gym and they work them hard. And their hard work pays off.”

Stanford's concern should be pretty obvious. If you let players sell their likeness, then the best players are even more likely to play at the highest profile schools.
Stanford, and really the entire PAC 10, would be huge losers in this regard. ND, Michigan and OSU would be the top recruiting powers, instead of the SEC schools (though they'd still do fine).
Really, Delany should be a big proponent of allowing players to sell their likeness.

I thought the water bottle ban occured during the Martin era. Otherwise, I agree with your rant.

I wonder if this is just the Regents reaction to the freep lawsuit, which is shining some very public light on their rubber stamping ways.
The other angle, of course, is that this reveals some serious discontent among the regents with Brandon. The Regents rejecting fireworks for a halftime show is totally ridiculous and should be viewed as a huge slap in the face to Brandon. I'm not a fireworks fan, and am glad they rejected them for after TDs during the PSU game, but the frickin' REGENTS rejecting fireworks during a halftime show is not about fireworks. It's about Dave Brandon.

Denzel's turned out better than average for a recruit in that range. Matt Castello is the better 4-star sparty recruit to pick on.

It wouldn't surprise me if he runs a sub 4.5 40. He has a very long stride, so he's faster than he looks...and he already looks fast.

I thought Johansson played well though. Hard to say if the US is a better team with Jozy up there.

It only takes a few bad apples to really create a hostile environment in a large group. If your team doesn't have leaders that can keep the bad apples in check, then you're going to have problems. If your leaders are the bad apples, then everyone is going to be miserable, and you'll likely have mutinous behavior, etc.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||That's all true, but I'm not||
That's all true, but I'm not sure if any of Beilein's recruits would have gone to MSU if Michigan was still terrible. I'm guessing maybe Walton, but that's about it. Irvin isn't really Izzo's kinda player. GRIII would have been just as likely to go to an Indiana school once he exploded on the scene. McGary would've gone to Duke. All the other guys are outside of midwest or not big enough recruits for Izzo (or previously for Izzo).
|7 weeks 4 days ago||What's interesting too is||
What's interesting too is that Beilein has never won a head-to-head recruiting battle against Izzo (although there's probably a few Izzo wishes he lost), so their decline in recruiting is mostly independent of Michigan's success.

The only thing that seems clearer is the reason why Lewan hasn't settled yet. The prosecution has a very shaky case. Nobody is going to believe the uber-drunk victims and Dileo's account doesn't really align with anyone elses, and she there's a possibility she's using this as some sort of revenge (not saying she is, but if you're a juror, you have to take that possibility into account).
|7 weeks 6 days ago||Well, that makes it clear as||
Well, that makes it clear as mud. Each person seemingly has a different version of events. Not sure how they get a conviction out of this. It all seems to rest on Miss Dileo's version of events, and whether a jury would view it as credible.

They'll reward them for building their new stadium with a SB. Just like they did for the Lions.

MSU needs Valentine to carry their offense next year. I just don't see that working out. They'll probably end up on the right side of the bubble.

I don't think so. They only needed one of them. The fact that they took both shows that they really liked them.

I'm surprised scalpers are confident there's going to be a strong secondary market. I'm not so sure.

If he's 18, he shouldn't need his parents permission. Why the NCAA requires this, I have no idea.

I don't agree with that. It looks like it's off UW, but the angle wasn't quite as good...and they give it to UA, which is OK.

This is just what the media does - they fish for storylines. Most of them don't have a beef with Michigan. It's just their job to drum this shit up.
Just ignore it. The storyline will be over after the next game.
|17 weeks 4 days ago||I disagree. Stokes lowered||
I disagree. Stokes lowered his shoulder into Morgan's chest. Morgan had position and the ref was in perfect position to see it. That gets called 80-90% of the time, and refs aren't supposed to change how they call the game based on situation (althought they do). A make-up call would have been if he gently backed Morgan up and got called for the charge.

Scherzer is a smart guy that almost certainly understands the risks to a certain degree. He also knows how he's pitching going into the year and how healthy he currently is.
IMO, these are his odds:
CY repeat: 15%. $225 million contract.
"Ace" caliber season: 55%. $200 million contract.
Average season plagued by minor injuries: 20%. $90 million contract.
Major, but not career ending injury: 8%. $20 million.
Career ending injury: 2%. $2 million (someone will give him a chance).
Expected earnings = $163 million, "median" earnings is $200 million. Not shocking that he turned down $140 million, especially when he's already made $30+ million and (probably) doesn't really need the money - he can afford to take the risk.

Marquette is a real good situation. They're now in a major-ish conference and their school is committed to their b-ball program. Apparently, Smart is from the area, so it makes a lot of sense why he'd go there instead of UCLA.

Iowa & OSU were the 2 worst teams from the Big Ten in the tourney. Not surprised they both lost. UW, MSU and Michigan will all hold their own. Nebraska might do some damage. This won't be the best tournament for the Big Ten, but even after the 0-2 start, I doubt it will be a disaster.

Miles should have replaced Brown in that list, imo. The others I'm ok with.
I think Marshall will almost certainly win it, with Bennett an outside possibility.

I disagree. Crean's outburst could seriously undermine Meyer's ability to land a HCing position. An apology doesn't cut it in this case.

Pretty much guarentees a 2 seed for Michigan if they win out.

The only disagreement was from a bunch of Iowa fanboys who think Marble deserves the award because he got to double digits in every BT game.
I think most people would take Stauskas's ridiculous efficiency over double digits in every game on the conference's highest tempo team. Not to say Stauskas is head and shoulders above Marble, but I think he's pretty much wrapped this thing up.

..and Petteway had a 3 game stretch, starting with his 5 pt outing against UM, where he was a sub 1 ppp player.
If you were putting together a team of Big 10 players, who would be your first choice? Petteway is solidly behind Stauskas and Harris in that metric.
