What size are you? I saw an ad on FB the other day for M gear on Poshmark and, well, yeah. If you're a bigger dude, this isn't the EXACT one linked (the Jumpman and M are inverted) but it might work for you.

Hah, he's not. I wasn't going to put another generation through that.

On a semi-related note, though, I updated my reddit account name (still linked to the same Google account) after I confirmed my move; now CFBRisk shows my old account name and clicking through shows the account's deleted? Just want to make sure I haven't utterly borked something.

Not bourbon, but I have an unopened bottle of Crown Royal XR Blue that was gifted to my (departed) step-dad that I'd be willing to sell to an interested buyer. This is an incredibly rare bottle. Strongly prefer local (southeast Michigan) pickup. I'm in Troy, but I do get to the Ann Arbor area from time to time, and expect that I'll be in Manchester at some point over the holiday.

I am absolutely in awe of this, and the mosaic on the wall as well. You have my unending respect for your mad LEGO skills.

"Why all the sports got…

"Why all the sports got cancelled"

My brother-in-law is a multi-sport official at the HS and college level (HS basketball and volleyball, college softball). He has five officiating friends who all came down with COVID-19 from a single high school basketball game right before the lockdown was announced, in the obvious hot spot of (checks notes) Concord, MI. Last I heard, at least one of the five was not expected to recover. Jackson County Health Department announced that anybody who was at that game and showed any symptoms were advised to immediately seek medical attention. If a one-legitimate-traffic-signal town of scarcely a thousand people can be the source of that kind of outbreak, it's a small miracle that everything got cancelled when it did.

Not sure that I agree with…

Not sure that I agree with your methodology on counting the 3PA as a 2PA due to the penalty. I would think that part of the calculus on electing a 3-point play would be the marginal benefit of a defensive penalty. If the defense takes a holding or PI call, you're now going for 3 from the 1 yard line, or in the case you referenced, from the 5 in the case of too many men, offsides, etc.

I don't know you from Adam,…

I don't know you from Adam, but you're in my thoughts. Families can be tough. My brother and I have been estranged from my dad for... crap, 30 years now? We've tried to reconnect with him a number of times over the years, with no luck. It bums me out that he doesn't know his grandkids, but it's out of our hands. As tough as your relationship with your dad has been, it sounds like you have one - and as has been noted numerous times above, the time to make things better. Maybe not right, but better. I hope you take every precious minute you have left with him.

Ernie Harwell did a reading …

Ernie Harwell did a reading (yes, THAT reading) at my wedding. I didn't know him, but wrote to him via both the Tigers and the Freep to ask if he'd consider doing a reading for a life-long Tigers fan. I nearly fell out of my chair at work when the phone rang and I answered to hear "Bill? This is Ernie Harwell" in that Georgia drawl.

CSB Michigan edition: Literally ran into Chris Webber by Angell Hall. Neither of us were looking where we were going, and we walked right into each other. Both of us were surprised to run into somebody around our own size (I'm 6'7").

Almost Lover by A Fine…

Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy. That song randomly came on in a restaurant at the perfect time in my life, and it's been my go-to ever since.

Co-sign

Agree with almost everything above. Our dog Bailey (Samoyed/Golden mix) was a year old when our son was born. She immediately adopted him, to the point where when we'd try to let him "cry it out" upstairs, she'd anxiously pace between looking up the stairs at the crying noise and nosing at us sitting on the couch to get us moving. She was (and is) incredibly patient with both him and his sister (born two years later). She has growled at them a couple of times and even nipped at him once, but that was when he was learning to walk, started toppling over and instinctively reached out to grab onto the nearest object. Unfortunately, that nearest object happened to be Bailey's long tail fur, so... yeah, not exactly her fault.

TL:DR? You know your dogs' temperament. If you're concerned about either of them, make sure you take it very slowly and carefully. Good luck!

Homesure

Adding to the non-astroturfed Homesure Lending recommendations. We finished up our refi with Matt and his team on Monday. The process absolutely could not have been easier, as the only papers that needed to be physically signed were brought TO OUR HOUSE by the title company. Matt negotiated through a slightly trickier-than-usual mortgage setup with ease (we had an additional lien that needed to be re-subordinated to the new mortgage) and the end result saved us nearly $600 per month over our old mortgage.

Primal always runs small

Definitely order a size up from your usual on these. I have the blue from last year in a 2XL and am strongly considering the Great Lakes jersey.

What's your source?

I didn't notice that detail in the story.

Though if that's the case I feel sorry for the prostitute, that guy looks like he'd have big fingers.

Nickname

Can his nickname be "Deck the Halls"? Please?

Ditto

Sometimes flipping between the Front Page and Forums sections would "help" it refresh, but no joy on MGoBlog HD (on iPad) today.

Awesome, and Primal sizing

Thanks for this! I ordered the blue official jersey last year, and it is absolutely the best bike jersey I own. Full zip front is fantastic, and the rubber grip liner on the bottom hem is invaluable. I'm strongly tempted to buy that Great Lakes jersey.

For those who may not have ordered from Primal before, the sizing does tend to run a bit snug/small. If you are even close to an "in-between" size, I'd recommend ordering a size up.

Now 58-29

As of 12:40pm EST. Love how the margin keeps opening up, now double Matta's.

Rejected

I was an end-of-the-bench guy on my high school basketball team - honestly, I was only there because I was 6'6", not because of any actual skill or, frankly, any real desire to be there - this would've been either 1990 or 1991. We played at Clarkston, which featured soon-to-be-Wolverine Dugan Fife. The Clarkston fans were an interesting bunch. During warmups, I had done the "come as close as you can without breaking the no-dunking-in-warmups rule" thing, like pretty much anybody would. As the game wore on and I continued to ride the pine, something odd happened. A chant broke out from the students, to the tune of the old Lennon song, "All we are saying / is give Bill a chance." I was completely baffled, and I think my coaches were, too. Late in the game, with us getting clobbered (to my recollection), I got in the game, and ended up briefly matched up against Fife. He put up a shot, which I blocked right back at him. He re-gathered and put up another shot, which I also blocked. I maintain to this day that the foul I got called for on that second shot was BS, but that feeling may just have been the adrenaline taking over. I got pulled from the game immediately thereafter, and soon departed the team.

In for one

My employer did Primal jerseys for an MS150 ride a couple of years ago, so sizing was a known quantity. Love that these are full-zip. Looking forward to breaking this out on the local bike trails and on the Michigander Bike Tour this year, thanks for the post!

Roll your own

I did my own winged bike helmet several years ago with detailing tape and a couple of cans of modeling spray paint. Spray down the front of the helmet (along with the visor if applicable) with yellow, wait for it to dry, then tape off the part that needs to remain yellow and overspray with dark blue. Finish with a clearcoat if you wish. The next version I do will be with an airbrush and I assume it'll look a lot more polished.

Reading strategy

The only book that I recall reading (or trying to) that for all practical purposes required two bookmarks. Exactly how this would work on an e-reader or audiobook, I have NO idea. I tried and failed to get through it a couple of times, then lent it out to someone who never gave it back. Best of luck!

EN and EX

Taken in context, I'd assume EN would be Empty Net and EX is Extra Attacker (via the pulled goalie).

Of course!

C'mon, once our photographer saw him, he got as many shots with him as he could. Ernie was fantastic... and patient, as things got underway a bit later than originally scheduled, and the Tigers had a game that night. (View picture to see the full-size images... sorry about the flash, these are physical pictures and I don't have my scanner handy.)

Wedding Invites

Good call on sending the invite. the worst-case scenario is no response or a polite decline. The best-case scenario for me was that I randomly invited Ernie Harwell to do a reading (Song of Solomon 2:11-12, of course) at my wedding, and he accepted. Everybody was amazed when he walked out.

True...

...though there were complaints leading up to the game that the efforts to thaw the field weren't completely successful. I imagine that if Michigan had any hope of hosting a game in late December or early January, they would cover the field immediately after the final home game to alleviate the snow removal/thawing issues that Minnesota faced.

Playing devil's advocate...

When the Metrodome roof caved in, one of the options explored was playing at Minnesota's TCF Stadium. It was abandoned, at least in part, because the field did not have any heating built in, and thus would be like playing on pavement. Anybody out there know whether Michigan Stadium's field is heated? I'm guessing not.

Restaurant recommendation

Highly, highly recommend The Green Goddess (http://www.greengoddessnola.com/ or @greengoddessFQ on Twitter). Supremely inventive eats and drinks, tucked into an off-the-beaten-path alley.

The Googles will reveal to you a special code phrase provided to Neil Gaiman for his followers as well. When I visited, it turned out to be a free appetizer.

"Grass man"

It's a ghillie suit.

And no, I don't have any idea why you'd wear one to the game (other than getting your mug on TV/scoreboard, obvs).

Piped-in music volume

"The volume level of piped-in music is too high."

I had to vote "Neutral" on this, because I both agree and disagree. When the stadium is loud, the volume level is fine. In pre-game, when the stadium is quieter, the volume is way too high.

Trade?

HH21: Is yours one of a pair? I'm looking to trade two singles for a pair. I have one in section 22, row 23 (awesome seat) and one in section 18, row 65.

Who...

Who is this "Pyror" fella and why should I care?

Flip the single?

Do you have a pair that you're selling a single of? I have two singles that I'm looking to flip for a pair. See the details in the spreadsheet, you might be able to get a better seat out of it.

Trade ND singles for a pair?

I have two ND singles that I'm looking to trade for a pair. Do you have a pair that you're planning on selling one? Avoid the uncomfortable feeling of having to sit next to the dude you took to the cleaners and probably upgrade your own seat in the process. My seats:

Section 22, Row 23: THIS IS YOUR SEAT. It rules.

Section 18, Row 65: You'll still rake in mad loot, but now you don't have to see the guy.

Contact info is in the ticket spreadsheet. Depending on the seats you have, I'm willing to kick in some $$ to make it happen.

In the roll books...

...he'd be listed as "Moss, Dinero" -- Mo' Money! It's almost a shame he didn't commit to OSU, there'd be a Bond-villain quality to that matchup.

Had to be done...

Linthicum

Glenn

You should only call him that when he's dug holes in the yard or chewed up a shoe. It's like using a kid's middle name. He'll know he's in trouble if you're calling him Glenn.

Head Like A Vole

I can't be the only one who read that headline and immediately started thinking up alternate lyrics to the NiN song, can I?

was, isn't.

Well, it was at time of posting. Even Brian RT'ed the ElevenWarriors mention of it. Damn me for not getting a screen capture!

OTOH...

...all the other sports' pages have their coaches.

OTOOH, a couple of responses to @ElevenWarriors' mention of this noted that the page was blank yesterday.

Carry on.

Drinking...

Currently finishing the bottom of the bottling bucket for my latest homebrew, a vanilla caramel cream ale.

SO. GOOD.

It's sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. Not an every-day drinker, but  it's going to be a nice change-of-pace beer for the next couple of months.

For those homebrewers among us, the recipe can be found at:

In other school-confusing news

Based on the Chart? Chart presented, I'm going to believe that "Yeesh. Aside from one terrible game against Minnesota, Tolzien has been robotically efficient" should be "Yeesh. Aside from one terrible game against Michigan State, Tolzien has been robotically efficient."

8. When the flag is displayed in a manner other than by being flown from a staff, it should be displayed flat, whether indoors or out. When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. When displayed in a window it should be displayed in the same way, that is with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street. When festoons, rosettes or drapings are desired, bunting of blue, white and red should be used, but never the flag.
