If Nuss was unhappy with how controlling Saban was, when Saban's main focus is defense, I doubt he will be happy with how controlling JH especially given that JH coaches qbs and likes to call plays.

This is the worst shooting Beilein team I think I've ever seen. We are shooting about 30% combined in the last 3 games. And we can't defend worth shit

I agree that he isn't "terrible", but he is more one-dimensional than everyone, including the front office in SF thought when they decided to move forward with him and move Alex Smith.
I guess one-dimensional is the wrong way to describe him. It's more that his passing isn't as good as it first appeared. Much like RGIII in Washington, the threat of the zone read and the other things he was doing running the football early on caught teams off guard, and allowed for easier decisions in the passing game. Now that there is tape on him, NFL defenses have caught up and have forced him to make more plays as a traditional dropback passer. Which isn't his strong suit. I believe that is the reason for the apparent regression. I don't think he has actually gotten worse, I just think the defenses have caught up after getting tape of him.
SF other struggles come up front on their OLine which isn't nearly as good as it was 2 years ago. Frank Gore is aging and that run game has been putrid for the past several weeks. Which obviously hurts a struggling QB. And then there is the defense. Which hasn't been a major problem as they are only allowing 16.5 PPG in the last 4 but has taken a slight step back and they have lost 2 of the 5 best linebackers in football in my opinion with Navorro Bowmen and Patrick Willis being on injured reserve.

Colin Kaepernick isn't a good qb and their running game has struggled and can't take the pressure off of him.

Man the 49ers choosing to go with Kaepernick over keeping Alex Smith was a huge mistake. I know hindsight is 20/20 but that really turned out to be a bad move.

Boy Joey Galloway is being the opposite of a homer right now. Downright hating on OSU.

Honestly I wouldn't mind OSU getting in for the sake of the Big Ten's reputation. Then losing in a competitive game against Bama. It wouldn't really change OSU's bragging rights or anything. They will have a very successful season regardless but if they are able to show that the Big Ten has a pulse that will be good for us if we ever get back to prominence.

Those were my thoughts as well. Gore has just been so poor in fantasy this year and SF doesn't seem to get him the ball very much. Especially in the Red Zone where it has been Hyde getting carries. That said, if Gore can get one TD that probably outscores Watkins the way he has been playing.

|3 weeks 1 day ago||I'm not sure if he would have||
I'm not sure if he would have come. He had just turned down the Alabama job the season before coming to Michigan, and I think it was in that next year that shit really hit the fan at WVU in terms of his relationship with the AD and other powers of the University. We have to remember that although Michigan, especially at that time, was a big step up from WVU in terms of prestige, he was coaching at his alma mater and regularly in the hunt for BCS bowls and NC games. So I don't think he would have come then, because I think at the time he was still really happy at WVU.
As far as the Lloyd Carr retiring aspect of your question, that is not really that far fetched. From everything I heard, Lloyd wanted to retire as early as 2003. He was persuaded to stay on and then had the Hart, Henne, Long group and stayed for a few years. Then he was rumored to want to leave following the 2006 season (this may have been in JUB's book) and was again persuaded to stay until 2007 when those guys all graduated.
It is interesting to look back at coaches available in 2005 and who we could have had. Saban was in the NFL, Spurrier just came back to college in 2005. Les Miles was in his first year at LSU after Saban left. Urban Meyer went to Florida in 05. Brian Kelly was at CMU (though I have heard that he was never considered for either the Michigan job or the MSU job because he's a huge ass hole. Not sure if thats true but those are the rumblings I've heard). Basically the who's who of college football coaches were on the move in 2005. Interesting to think about which one's would have considered Michigan at the time, especially with a loaded roster and none of the smear of the last 7 years on the program at the time.

Also, based on your username I would guess that John Harbaugh is your preferred coach so you can add Jo?
Wont work so well with Jim or Les (or their last names).
Tell you what, I'll go ahead and start wishing for John Harbaugh for the sake of your username.

That was my first in person viewing of The Game! I picked a good one. Will also never forget the naked guy, with a Block M painted on his back, streaking from the South Endzone to the North Endzone. An image that was burned into my young mind.
One comment on the actual video: Why on earth is there so much space between the 2 and the 1 on the front of his jersey?
|3 weeks 3 days ago||I didn't misinterpret||
I didn't misinterpret anything. I was at student body walk-on tryouts twice while in undergrad at U of M while Lloyd Carr was the coach. So when he says this:
I'm reasonably certain Carr held no such tryouts, and I'm guessing Hoke immediately abandoned them per his and Brandon's "Purge All Remnants of the Rodriguez Era" edict.
So, no, I'm not being touchy. He is claiming "reasonable certainty" about something that is completely untrue, and he also "guessed" that Hoke and Brandon did away with them immediately. Again, somethign that isn't true. If he didn't want a "touchy" response he could have asked his question very simply by saying: "do student body open try-outs still exist?"
See how easy that was for me to ask without having to make claims that our former and current coaches didn't have them, when he obviously has no clue at all.
